Characteristics of the Cyclic Hardening in Low Cycle Environmental Fatigue Test of CF8M Stainless Steel (CF8M 스테인리스 강 저주기 환경피로 실험의 주기적 변형률 경화 특성)

  • Low-cycle environmental fatigue tests of cast austenitic stainless steel CF8M at the condition of fatigue strain rate 0.04%/sec were conducted at the pressure and temperature, 15MPa, $315^{\circ}C$ of a operating pressurized water reactor. The used test rig was limited to install an extensometer at the gauge length of the cylindrical fatigue specimen inside the small autoclave. So the magnet type LVDT's were used to measure the fatigue displacement at the specimen shoulders inside the high temperature and high pressure water autoclave. However, the displacement and strain measured at the specimen shoulders is different from the one at the gauge length for the geometry and the cyclic strain hardening effect. FEM calculated the displacement and the strain of the gauge length from the data measured at the shoulders. Tensile test properties in elastic and plastic behavior of CF8M material were used in the FEM analysis. A series of low cycle fatigue tests simulating the cyclic strain hardening effect verified that the FEM calculation was well agreed with the simulated tests. The process and method developed in this study would be so useful to produce reliable environmental fatigue curves of CF8M stainless steel in pressurized water reactors.

Displacement of the fatigue specimen gauge length calculated by FEM (finite element method) used to modify the measured displacement and fatigue life at the shoulders. A series of low cycle fatigue life tests in air and PWR conditions simulating the cyclic strain hardening effect verified that the FEM modified fatigue life was well agreed with the simulating test results. The process and method developed in this study for the environmental fatigue test inside the small sized autoclave would be so useful to produce reliable environmental fatigue curves of CF8M stainless steel in pressurized water reactors.

Egg Production and Egg Shape of Early Egg Laying Group Induced by Artificial Light in Korean Ring-Necked Pheasant (인공점등에 의한 조기 산란유도 꿩집단의 산란능력과 난형)

  • To investigate the response of egg production to the artificial light to induce early egg laying. and the changes of egg weight and egg shape during the egg laying cycle, 30 Korean ring-necked pullets and their 1,284 eggs layed under artificial light control were used in this study. The first egg was ohserved at the age of 31 wk, after 4 wk of stimulating light(16 hour light: 8 hour dark). Egg production rate during seven 2-wk periods from the begining of the first egg was 43.7% and a clear peak egg production(61.7%) was shown at the 4th 2-wk period. The effects of egg production period and pullet on the egg weight, egg length, egg width and egg shape index(width/length) were significant(P<0.01). In the egg production cycle. egg weight, egg length and egg width increased steadly with time. but the value of egg shape index increased up to the 3rd 2-wk period and then decreased. Repeatabilities from intraclass correlation for the egg weight, egg length. egg width and egg shape index were 0.61. 0.53, 0.49 and 0.48, respectively.

  • This paper considers the influence of suction-line heat exchangers on the efficiency of a refrigeration cycle using hydrocarbon refrigerants such as R290, R600a and R1270. These suction-line heat exchangers can, in some cases, yield improved system performance while in other cases they degrade system performance. A steady state mathematical model is used to analyze the performance characteristics of refrigeration cycle with suction-line heat exchanger. The influence of operating conditions, such as the mass flowrate of hydrocarbon refrigerants, inner diameter tube and length of suction-line heat exchanger, to the performance of the cycle is also analyzed in the paper. Results showed that the mass flowrate of hydrocarbon refrigerants, inner diameter tube and length of suction-line heat exchanger, and effectiveness have an effect on the cooling capacity, compressor work and RCI(Relative Capacity Index) of this system. With a thorough grasp of these effect, it is necessary to design the compression refrigeration cycle of hydrocarbon refrigerants using suction-line heat exchanger.

Cycle Wear Functional Design Preference and Demands Based on Gender -Focusing on Cycle Wear Top- (성별에 따른 사이클웨어의 기능적 디자인 선호도와 수요 특성 -사이클웨어 상의를 중심으로-)

  • This study is to understand the problems of cycle wear. Interviews and surveys were done to target male and female cyclists in order to understand the wearing conditions and satisfaction of cycle wearers. A total of 443 surveys were used to analyze demographic information, inconvenience and design preference. The average age of male respondents was 34.45 and females was 33.39. The majority were in their 20s and 30s. As for the bicycle riding time, 41.9% of females cycled in the morning and 39.5% cycled in the evening. For men, 44.7% of males cycled in the evening and 33.3% cycled in the morning. The number of cycle wear owned by female respondents were higher than men. Quick water-absorbent and drying properties were considered as important functionality in cycle wear for 87.8% of males and females. When wearing cycle wear, it was found that females felt more discomfort than males in terms of jersey top length. The study results indicated that cycle wear wearing conditions were different according to gender.

Sexual Maturation and Artificial Spawning of the Hard Clam, Meretrix Iusoria (Bivalvia: Veneridae) on the West Coast of Korea

  • Reproductive cycle with the gonadal phases, first sexual maturity, artificial spawning amount by the size and spawning interval of the hard clam, Meretrix lusoria were investigated by histological observations and morphometric data by artificial spawning induction. Meretrix lusoria is dioecious and oviparous. The reproductive cycle of this species can be classified into five successive stages: early active stage (January to March), late active stage (February to May), ripe stage (April to August), partially spawned stage (June to September), and spent/inactive stage (September to February). The spawning period was from June to September, and the main spawning occurred between July and August when the seawater temperature exceeds over $20^{\circ}C$. Percentage of first sexual maturity of female and male clams ranging from 40.0 to 45.0 mm in shell length was over 50%, and all clams over 50.0 mm in shell length sexually matured. Female and male clams ranging from 40.0 to 45.0 mm in shell length are considered to be two years old. Therefore, we assume that the hard clams of both sexes begin reproduction from two years of age. The mean number of the spawned eggs increased with the increase of size (shell length) classes. In case of artificial spawning induction, the number of spawned eggs from the clams of a sized class was gradually decreased with the increase of the number of the spawning frequencies (the first, second, and third spawnings). In the experiments of artificial spawning induction during the spawning season, the interval of each spawning was estimated to be 15-18 days (average 17 days).

Technical Note : Development of Electric Riding Machine for Cycle Fitting (단신 : 사이클 피팅을 위한 전동 승차 조절기 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an electric riding machine for cycle fitting to control riding posture easily, to measure frame size quantitatively, and to overcome disadvantages of the traditional systems. The electric riding machine consisted of actuator, load controller, and display & control unit. The actuator unit by BLDC(BrushLess Direct Current) motor drives the saddle height up and down, the crank forward and backward, the handlebar up and down, and the handlebar forward and backward. The load controller unit controls loads by Eddy current controller with electromagnet and aluminum circular plate. The display & control unit consisted of frame size controller and display panel which shows top tube length(485~663mm), head tube length(85~243mm), seat tube length(481~671mm), and seat tube angle($62.7{\sim}76.4^{\circ}$). The range of frame size control for developed electric riding machine did not have difference compared to traditional commercial systems, but quantitative and precise control with 0.1 mm length and $0.1^{\circ}$ angle was possible through digital measurement. Unlike traditional commercial systems, frame size control was possible during riding through motor driven method, thus fitting duration decreased. It is necessary for further improvement to have feedback from users. It is believed that developed electric riding machine can help to develop domestic fitting system.

Training Sample of Artificial Neural Networks for Predicting Signalized Intersection Queue Length (신호교차로 대기행렬 예측을 위한 인공신경망의 학습자료 구성분석)

  • The Purpose of this study is to analyze wether the composition of training sample have a relation with the Predictive ability and the learning results of ANNs(Artificial Neural Networks) fur predicting one cycle ahead of the queue length(veh.) in a signalized intersection. In this study, ANNs\` training sample is classified into the assumption of two cases. The first is to utilize time-series(Per cycle) data of queue length which would be detected by one detector (loop or video) The second is to use time-space correlated data(such as: a upstream feed-in flow, a link travel time, a approach maximum stationary queue length, a departure volume) which would be detected by a integrative vehicle detection systems (loop detector, video detector, RFIDs) which would be installed between the upstream node(intersection) and downstream node. The major findings from this paper is In Daechi Intersection(GangNamGu, Seoul), in the case of ANNs\` training sample constructed by time-space correlated data between the upstream node(intersection) and downstream node, the pattern recognition ability of an interrupted traffic flow is better.

  • High temperature low cycle fatigue crack growth behavior is investigated over a range of two temperatures and various frequencies in SUS 304 stainless steel. It is found that low frequency and temperature can enhance time-dependent crack growth. With high temperature, low frequency and long crack length, ${\Delta}J_c/{\Delta}J_ f$, the ratio of creep J integral range to fatigue J integral range is increased and time-dependent crack growth is accelerated. Interaction between ${\Delta}J_f$ and ${\Delta}J_c$ is occured at high frequency and low temparature and ${\Delta}J_c$, creep J integral range is fracture mechanical parameter on transition from cycle-dependent to time dependent crack growth in creep temperature region.

  • A building structures was used the facility management phase through $planing\cdotdesign\cdotconstruction$. phase. building's length of life was shorter than its physical length of life, because of the lack of law and institution, the lack of related agencies' preparation and owner's preparation. Also, considering the construction life-cycle, the facility phase accounted for $70\%$ of whole official lift, therefore, it needed to be opposed to systemic facility management. Current facility management system practically managed the defect of facility and almost never communicated between the other phase. In the side of policy, domestic law, institution, and policy related to building structure focused built-up market. and then the management of existing facilities was not consolidated efficiently. The purpose of this study was to suggest the direction of facility management construction for managing, utilizing, and operating public facilities, moreover, to study the direction of current facility management system improvement corresponding to total computer integrated construction system under government agencies.
