  • The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of clothing cues(sleeve and skirt width, length) on female impressions. The experimental materials developed for this study are a set of stimuli and response scales. The stimuli are 16 pictures manipulated with sleeve and skirt width · length variations by computer drawing. The experimental design consists of 3 factorial design: (1) sleeve shapes(plain, upper expanded, below expanded, all expanded) (2) skirt width (wide, narrow) (3) skirt length(long, short) The 7-point semantic differential response scale designed for visual evaluation of female' s impression formation on sleeve shape and skirt width · length is 27 bipolar adjectives. The results of this study are as follows: 1. When we analize the impressions of female figure by sleeve shape and width · length of skirt, it becomes clear that maturity, modernity, attention, elegance and tenderness are proved to be important. Among these five factors, maturity, modernity and attention are identified as more important ones. 2. Sleeve shape have an effect on all factors except maturity and the effects of sleeve on the four factors are not striking. ' Width of skirt are most influential to the maturity and attention, but it does not have any effect on modernity. However two factor, that is width of skirt and sleeve have an effects on modernity, attention and tenderness. ' The length of skirt has an effects on the tenderness, elegance and modernity, but it dose not have any effect on attention. But width and length of skirt have an effects on attention, tenderness and modernity The length of skirt and sleeve have an effect on tenderness.

  • The flameless combustion has been considered as one of the promising combustion technology for high thermal efficiency, reducing NOx and CO emissions. In this paper, the effect of air and fuel injection condition on formation of flameless combustion was analyzed using three dimensional numerical simulation. The results show that the high temperature region and the average temperature was decreased due to increase of recirculation ratio when air velocity is increased. The average temperature was also affected by entrainment length. Generally mixing effect was enhanced at low entrainment length and dilution was dominated at high entrainment length. This entrainment length was greatly affected by air and fuel injection velocity and distance between air and fuel. It is also found that the recirculation ratio and dilution effect were generally increased by entrainment length and the recirculation ratio, mixing and dilution effect are the significant factor for design of flameless combustion system.

  • The effect of certain factors such as sex of calf, status of buffalo, season of calving, parity and sire on lactation length and total lactation yield was studied in 391 Nili-Ravi buffaloes. The average lactation length was $301.73{\pm}1.87$ (mean $\pm$ SE) days with a range of 181 to 505 days whereas the average lactation yield was $2031.08{\pm}19.16kg$ and ranged from 1023 to 6535 kg for 984 lactations. The differences in the means of lactation length and lactation yield due to the sex of calf were significant (p<0.05). The status of buffaloes had a significant (p<0.05) effect on lactation length but its effect on lactation yield was non-significant. The season of calving had no effect on lactation length but it influenced the lactation yield significantly. The milk yield was highest ($2150.81{\pm}43.52kg$) in buffaloes which calved in spring and lowest ($1959.92{\pm}30.83kg$) in autumn. The effect of parity on both traits under study was significant (p<0.01). The maximum and minimum lactation lengths of $309.82{\pm}3.96$ and $284.16{\pm}7.17$ days were observed in the first and sixth lactations, respectively. The milk yield was maximum ($2150.38{\pm}58.79kg$) in the seventh lactation and minimum (1818.31 60.04 kg) in the sixth lactation. The influence of sire was significant on lactation length (p<0.05) and milk yield (p<0.01).

  • The formula to calculate a variation of optical path length of single crystal by the electric field was derived by this study. The formula was applied to $Bi_{12}SiO_{20}$ single crystal. The results are as follows. In case of the applied electric field in the body diagonal direction and the passing light along the same direction, the variation of optical path length had the largest value. The symmetry of the space distribution of optical path length satisfied $E3C_2\;8C_3$, the set of elements of the symmetry of $Bi_{12}SiO_{20}$ single crystal. The property which gave the largest influence to the variation of optical path length is the strain of length by the Inverse piezoelectric effect. The second influence, is the variation of the refractive index by the electro-optic effect. The variation of optical path length by the inverse piezoelectric effect and by the electro-optic effect have a reverse sign each other.

  • This study compared and analyzed the interaction visual effect of skirt silhouettes and skirt length by body mass index. This study provides basic data for women in their 20s and 30s to choose suitable skirts for their image. Twelve skirts were made, consisting of two categories of body mass index, three types of skirt silhouette and two levels of skirt length. Men and women in their 20s and 30s evaluated the visual effects of the experimental skirts using a questionnaire. The interaction effect of the visual effect following the skirt's length and silhouette by body mass index were analyzed by three-way ANOVA. Overall, a shorter the body and lower body length resulted in better vertical effects in normal weight. In terms of horizontal effects, such as lower body thickness and full-body shape, the 40 cm skirt, 50 cm tight, and A-line skirt were generally shown as better images. Skirt length helped supplement body type rather than silhouette in the overweight section. When the length was 40 cm, three skirts showed a more positive image. This study provide results for women in their 20s and 30s to choose skirts that are suitable for their image.

  • It is attempted, in this study, to analyze the movement of the fluidity of polar magnetic fluid and to relate Newtonian fluid with the Inlet Length of infinity plates when distance between parallel plates is L. A numerical analysis is performed for the variation of inlet length when magnetic effect parameter and polar effect parameter which give special advantages to magnetic fluid are increased. From the result of numerical analysis, we confirmed that the inlet length shortens as the flux around the center axis is accelerated and the flux around the surface of a wall is controlled as the magnetic effect parameter and the polar effect parameter are increased.

  • In evaluating the ultimate strength of a section for a reinforced concrete flexural member, the effect of member length is not usually considered, even though the strength tends to decrease with increase of member length. In this paper the influence of specimen length on flexural compressive strength of concrete was evaluated. For this purpose, a series of C-shaped specimens subjected to axial compression and bending moment were tested using four different length-to-depth ratios (from 1,2,3 and 4) of specimens with compressive strength of 590 kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Results indicate that for the region of h/c <3.0 the reduction in flexural compressive strength with increase of length-to-depth ratios was apparent. A model equation was depth of an equivalent rectangular stress block was larger than that by ACI. It was also founded that the effect of specimen length on ultimate strain was negligible. Finally more general model equation is also suggested.

  • This study evaluated the effect of restraint of pressure induced bending(PIB) on crack mouth opening displacement(CMOD) for circumferential through-wall crack in pipe by using both elastic and elastic-plastic finite element analyses. The analyses results showed the restraint of PIB was decreased crack opening for a given crack length and tensile stress, and the effect was considerable for large crack and short restraint length. Also, the restraint effect on CMOD was independent on the variation in pipe diameter and decreased with increasing pipe thickness, and it depended on not total restraint length but short restraint length for non-symmetrically restrained. Additionally, the effect of restraint of PIB was more significant in the elastic-plastic analysis results compared with in the elastic analysis results.

  • The size effect on axial compressive strength in notched concrete specimens was experimentally investigated. Based on the concept of the fracture mechanics and size effect law, theoretical studies for axial compressive failure of concrete were reviewed, and two failure modes of concrete specimens under compression were discussed. In this study, experiments of axial compressive failure, which is one of the two failure modes, was carried out by using cylindrical specimens. Adequate notch length was taken from the experimental result of strength variation based on the notch length. And, by taking various sizes of specimens the size effect on axial compressive strength of concrete was investigated. Also, model equations were suggested by modified size effect law (MSEL). The test results show that size effect appears conspicuously for all series of specimens. Additionally, the effect of initial notch length on axial compressive strength was also apparent.

  • In this paper, we classified the wavelength reservation mechanisms of optical burst switching (OBS), and investigated the path length priority effect of the offset time/delayed reservation (OT/DR)-based scheme like the just-enough-time (JET) protocol. And, we showed that the fiber delay line (FDL)-based scheme can avoid the path length priority effect in multiple hop network environments. Also, we proposed a novel FDL/DR with hop-by-hop priority increasing (HPI) scheme which can improve the end-to-end throughput by increasing the priority of bursts hop-by-hop using the input FDLs at each node. The simulation results showed that the proposed FDL/DR with HPI scheme could avoid the path length priority effect and enhance the end-to-end throughput in multiple hop network environments.
