XML Gateway Design and Implementation for Legacy Databases (Legacy 데이터베이스를 위한 XML Gateway 설계 및 구현)

  • Method of designing and implementing the XML Gateway is proposed for supporting the data movement between the Legacy databases. XML technologies, Oracle XML Utility, and JDeveloper are used for this purpose. The data in Legacy database are extracted by XSQL pages, parsed, transformed by XSL, and finally saved by XMLHttprequest object of XSQL servlet. With the help of the implemented system, an assigned operator does not have to handle the database with the SQL*Plus tools. In addition, the data movement is easily carried out by using the familiar Web interface offered by system.

  • This paper describes a methodology for translation of concurrent software expressed in operating system (OS) calls to Ada. Concurrency is expressed in some legacy software by OS calls that perform concurrent process/task control. Examples considered in this paper are calls in programs in C to Unix and calls in programs in CMS-2 to the Executive Service Routines of ATES or SDEX-20 other software re/reverse engineering research has focused on translating the OS calls in a legacy software to calls to another OS. In this approach, the understanding of software has required knowledge of the underlying OS, which is usually very complicated and informally documented. The research in this paper has focused on translating the OS calls in a legacy software into the equivalent protocols using the Ada facilities. In translation to Ada, these calls are represented by Ada equivalent code that follow the scheme of a message-based kernel oriented architecture. To facilitate translation, it utilizes templates placed in library for data structures, tasks, procedures, and messages. This methodology is a new approach to modeling OS in Ada in software re/reverse engineering. There is no need of knowledge of the underlying OS for software understanding in this approach, since the dependency on the OS in the legacy software is removed. It is portable and interoperable on Ada run-time environments. This approach can handle the OS calls in different legacy software systems.

  • Physical One-way Transfer, one of network Separating Network Technologies, shut off intrusion possibilities by removing data transfer line from external network to internal network. Physical One-way Transfer technology can not support legacy services based duplex transmission. Legacy services operating need agent for extra service with the support. But, Agent development have problems with adding cost and open internal protocols. In this papers, We analyzed legacy services between Control network and OA network in working SCADA systems, and based on the results obtained from the analysis, categorized the legacy services into three forms. We propose an agent generation method of the three service categories for Physical One-Way Transfer System. In addition, we design an automatic generation tool using the proposed method.

  • As the population of the Internet inneases, so does that of mobile Internet. Currently, the use area of mobile Internet is rather limited due to the low speed of transmission and lack of applications. However, it is evident that the speed will be improved and more applications will be developed. In this paper, we propose: i) to use WAP in SCM, ii) to interconnect WAP and XML/EDI system, iii) to interconnect WAP, XML/EDI, Legacy system in SCM. We implemented a prototype which can show the interconnection among WAP, XML/EDI, and Legacy system. We hope the concept could be used in real applications in the near future.

  • The company protects the information of legacy system to satisfy all member in company. Integrating between applications is increasing recently because of e-Business activation. The e-Business activation also make between extra companies and intra companies integrated. This paper suggest on implementing the ERP using Phased Approach Method and the EAI(Enterprise Application Integration) with legacy system. This paper also suggest the standard method which would be used in implementing the EAI in another company and reduce the mistake during the EAI project. Therefore, it would be the one system between complicated systems through application integration, it would be also make shop floors visualized. This research would help users and service suppliers getting more advantages of e-Business system.

  • This study addresses the issue of the continuity in Indonesia's party system with respect to Islam, authoritarian legacy and income, using the urban-based individual face-to-face survey data. The existing studies focus on the historical continuity of the Indonesian party system between the 1955 and 1999 democratic elections. Yet, this study deals with the continuity and discontinuity between the pre-transitional 1997 election and the transitional 1999 election. It finds that the effect of Islam is largely independent of the democratic transition: Islam-oriented voters under the authoritarian rule tend to remain in the Islamic camp even during and after the democratic transition, while most of the secular voters prior to the democratic transition continue to shun any Islamic parties during the democratization. The effect of authoritarian legacy is also found to be meaningful, even if not as sticky as Islam. Finally, the variable of income is significant. Contrary to the popular belief, the PDIP is not a party of the urban poor but the PPP is the urban poor's favorite choice. This implies the linkage between poverty and political Islam.

  • This paper suggests a technique, TELOR(Technique of Object Extraction Based on Legacy System Interface for Improvement of Object Reusability) for reuse and reengineering by analyzing the Legacy System interface to distill the meaningful information from them and disassemble them into object units which are to be integrated into the next generation systems. The TELOR method consists of a 4 steps procedure: 1) the interface use case analysis step, 2) the interface object dividing step, 3) the object structure modeling step, and 4) the object model integration step. In step 1, the interface structure and information about the interaction between the user and the Legacy System are obtained. In step 2, the interface information is divided into semantic fields. In step 3, studies and models the structural and collaborative relationship among interface objects. Finally, in step 4, object model integration step, integrates the models and improves the integrated model at a higher level. The objects integration model created through TELOR provides a more efficient understanding of the Legacy System and how to apply it to next generation systems.

  • 기존 Telnet, FTP 도구를 통하여 사용자가 직접 Legacy 서버에 접속하여 작업을 하면서 내부정보에 접근하는 현황을 개선하여 사용자와 Legacy 서버 사이에 Gateway 형태의 일체형 S/W와 H/W Appliance 장비를 두어 Legacy 서버에 대한 접근제어, Packet Logging, Packet Filtering을 통하여 내부 중요정보에 대한 접근 통제, 내부정보 유출 차단, 감사 추적의 보안기능을 제공하는 시스템을 개발하였다.

Study on Construction Method of Hybrid Web-based Smart Learning Systems (하이브리드 웹 기반의 스마트 러닝 시스템 구축 방안 연구)

  • This paper proposes a method of constructing of hybrid web-based smart learning system to operable in a variety of mobile devices. To do this, the proposed system is developed a learning system with standardized and enhanced functions. In the proposed method, API specifications based on the standard functionality of smart learning system are created. And then, by building the API provider on a legacy system an organic linkage between the legacy system and the smart learning system is guaranteed. A standard API method is applied to data integration between the PC-based learning system and the smart learning system. The smart learning system interacts with legacy learning systems though Json/XML data forms via the https protocol. As a result, the legacy system using the proposed method dose not require major modifications and changes for a smart learning service.

  • 급변하는 비즈니스 환경과 기업 경쟁의 가속화 그리고 Dynamic eBusiness 시대의 제품 및 서비스의 빠른 변화 및 Mass Customization의 경향은 기업들에게 비즈니스 민첩성을 크게 요구하고 있다. 이런 변화에 민첩하게 대응하기 위해서는 RTE 기반의 IT 인프라가 준비되어 있어야 하며, 이런 인프라의 중심에 웹 서비스가 존재하고 있다. 이에 따라 삼성 SDS에서는 차세대 RTE 아키텍처로서 웹 서비스를 적용 중에 있다. 개념적이고 이론적인 수준에서 언급되는 웹 서비스 적용 방법/기술/장단점이 아닌, 웹 서비스를 레거시 시스템 (Legacy System)에 적용한 경험을 바탕으로 현 기업들이 당면하는 실질적인 문제를 웹 서비스가 어느 정도 해결하여 줄 수 있는지, 레거시 시스템을 웹 서비스 기반의 시스템으로 전환하고자 할 때 고려할 점과 단계별 접근 방안에 대해 소개하고자 한다.
