Quality Indicators of ICT-Related Support for Blended-Learning in Traditional Universities

  • Campus-based universities have provided face-to-face instruction traditionally. But recently, it is becoming a trend that they provide blended learning which combines e-learning and f2f instruction. Therefore, traditional university has been installing the ICT related convenience for the faculty and students to use easily to their classes. The purpose of this study is to develop quality indicators of ICT-related support for proper blended learning in traditional campus-based universities. This indicators are used for measuring the quality of ICT-related services at university level for quality education. To this end, first, we reviewed literature about quality indicators of university evaluation and e-learning. Second,we did case study. We selected and analyzed one university for a case, And we identified what elements are perceived important to faculty for more efficient use of technology to their class. Third, we summarized all this data and established the quality indicators framework of ICT-related components for blended learning in campus-based universities. Then, these indicators were revised after the expert evaluation. And then 10 experts and practitioners scored importance rating. Finally, we sum them up to 17 indicators and 48 sub-indicators in three phases (input, process, output). Among them, e-learning related organization or body, usability of Learning Management System, and quality assessment system got the highest scores. These indicators are supposed to contribute to measure the quality of ICT-related environment for blended learning and to provide informations about what is required for efficient blended learning in the campus-based universities.

  • In this paper, we designed and proposed framework of extended user model to support student tailored learning in ubiquitous environment. For the purpose, existents model that is domain model, user model, adaptation model and interaction model connected to LMS(Learning Management System) and LCMS(Learning Contents Management System). Students information management process that is extended user model is in between LMS and adaptive learning system. And the process connected u-LMS to use u-learning. u-LMS and u-LCMS could support the learning contents through exchange the contents according to connect and request from the students.

Towards Designing Human Interactions for Learning Support System using Virtual Reality Technology

  • We have been designing human interactions for some learning support system or education system. The design is based on a symbol grounding model. The model is applicable to many learning domains using virtual reality technology. The design policy is simple and compact. In order to realize the policy we use/reuse some devices from the viewpoint of virtual reality. This paper introduces basic ideas and explains several example cases based on the idea.

A Preliminary Study on Clinical Decision Support System based on Classification Learning of Electronic Medical Records

  • We employed a hierarchical document classification method to classify a massive collection of electronic medical records(EMR) written in both Korean and English. Our experimental system has been learned from 5,000 records of EMR text data and predicted a newly given set of EMR text data over 68% correctly. We expect the accuracy rate can be improved greatly provided a dictionary of medical terms or a suitable medical thesaurus. The classification system might play a key role in some clinical decision support systems and various interpretation systems for clinical data.

  • USN, all things are given to the computing and networking capabilities and by enabling the best service through awareness of environment and situation is a technology to improve the convenience and safety of human life. In this paper, we develop learning support system based on embedded system using USN technology which collect learner's learning environment based on real time and makes the best learning environment. In addition, simulations of these systems to improve the learners' learning efficiency was identified.

  • This study verified the effect of the level of learning organization on satisfaction of learning organization support project and the moderating effect of charismatic leadership. The level of learning organization positively affected satisfaction of learning organization support project. Especially, personal mastery affected creating&spreading knowledge and financial performance, system thingking affected building learning infra, shared vision affected learning culture&activity, teamwork and financial performance. Also, charismatic leadership partially moderated the effect of learning organization. This study provided implications to manage successful learning organization by analyzing causal relationship between learning theory and practical corporate performance.

  • Learning Contents Management System(LCMS) manages the contents and the process of teaming by incorporating the both in a flexible system to help learners to be able to utilize them efficiently. The e-Learning comprises all types of educations based on electronic technologies as well as the Web. The existing e-Learning system is a simple information system providing Web based contents, therefore, it cannot support flexibility for both learners and teachers. The core part of the e-Learning system should be a remote education system which creates bilateral response between the learners and teachers, by providing substantial contents based on the LCMS. In this paper, a new e-Learning system is constructed with reusable modules generated by Component-Based software Development(CBD). Furthermore, creates new contents groups and enables to develop learning courses utilizing the Learning Objects. And also, observing the SCORM standard, lecture contents are designed and prepared to support learners Learners are supported to produce profiles which enables themselves to manage, measure, and evaluate their own capabilities, so that they can develop themselves properly in accordance with their levels, build prototypes for self development. Also a system that comprises all these individual components is suggested.

  • Despite their tilde application of some traditional project management techniques like the Program Evaluation and Review Technique, they lack of learning, one of important factors in many disciplines today due to a static view far prefect progression. This study proposes a framework for estimation by learning based on a Linear Bayesian approach. As a project progresses, we sequentially observe the durations of completed activities. By reflecting this newly available information to update the distribution of remaining activity durations and thus project duration, we can implement a decision support system that updates e.g. the expected project completion time as well as the probabilities of completing the project within talc due date and by a certain date. By Implementing such customized systems, project manager can be aware of changing project status more effectively and better revise resource allocation plans.

  • Research Purpose : Based on artificial intelligence, this study considers learners' characteristics, learning content, and individual learning, and analyzes the collected learning data to develop a model that supports customized learning for individual learners. Research content and method : In order to achieve the research purpose, the literature was analyzed to investigate the structure of customized learning support, learning data analysis, and learning activities, and based on the investigated data, the area and detailed components of the customized learning support model were derived. did. A draft model was constructed through literature analysis, and the first expert Delphi survey was conducted on the draft model with five experts. The model was revised by reflecting the results of the first Delphi, and the validity of the revised model was verified through the second expert Delphi. The model was elaborated through expert Delphi, and the final model was constructed through this. Conclusion and Recommendation : Through research, customized learning support area, class management system area, and learning analysis data area were formed, and detailed elements were derived for each area. The results of this study provide basic data that can be used as a reference for constructing a customized learning support system based on artificial intelligence, taking into account the university's class environment.

Face Recognition System with SVDD-based Incremental Learning Scheme (SVDD기반의 점진적 학습기능을 갖는 얼굴인식 시스템)

  • In face recognition, learning speed of face is very important since the system should be trained again whenever the size of dataset increases. In existing methods, training time increases rapidly with the increase of data, which leads to the difficulty of training with a large dataset. To overcome this problem, we propose SVDD (Support Vector Domain Description)-based learning method that can learn a dataset of face rapidly and incrementally. In experimental results, we show that the training speed of the proposed method is much faster than those of other methods. Moreover, it is shown that our face recognition system can improve the accuracy gradually by learning faces incrementally at real environments with illumination changes.
