  • In this study, deep learning and k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) models were used to estimate the sorptivity and freeze-thaw resistance of self-compacting mortars (SCMs) having binary and ternary blends of mineral admixtures. Twenty-five environment-friendly SCMs were designed as binary and ternary blends of fly ash (FA) and silica fume (SF) except for control mixture with only Portland cement (PC). The capillary water absorption and freeze-thaw resistance tests were conducted for 91 days. It was found that the use of SF with FA as ternary blends reduced sorptivity coefficient values compared to the use of FA as binary blends while the presence of FA with SF improved freeze-thaw resistance of SCMs with ternary blends. The input variables used the models for the estimation of sorptivity were defined as PC content, SF content, FA content, sand content, HRWRA, water/cementitious materials (W/C) and freeze-thaw cycles. The input variables used the models for the estimation of sorptivity were selected as PC content, SF content, FA content, sand content, HRWRA, W/C and predefined intervals of the sample in water. The deep learning and k-NN models estimated the durability factor of SCM with 94.43% and 92.55% accuracy and the sorptivity of SCM was estimated with 97.87% and 86.14% accuracy, respectively. This study found that deep learning model estimated the sorptivity and durability factor of SCMs having binary and ternary blends of mineral admixtures higher accuracy than k-NN model.

  • In this study, we predicted the presence of fog with a one-hour delay using the XGBoost DART machine learning algorithm for Andong, which had the highest occurrence of fog among inland stations from 2016 to 2020. We used six datasets: meteorological data, agricultural observation data, additional derived data, and their expanded data. The weather phenomenon numbers obtained through naked-eye observations and the visibility distances measured by visibility meters were classified as fog [1] or no-fog [0]. We set up twelve machine learning modeling experiments and used data from 2021 for model validation. We mainly evaluated model performance using recall and AUC-ROC, considering the harmful effects of fog on society and local communities. The combination of oversampled meteorological data features and the target induced by weather phenomenon numbers showed the best performance. This result highlights the importance of naked-eye observations in predicting fog using machine learning algorithms.

  • In software fault prediction, a multi classification model that predicts the fault severity category of a module can be much more useful than a binary classification model that simply predicts the presence or absence of faults. A small number of severity-based fault prediction models have been proposed, but no classifier using deep learning techniques has been proposed. In this paper, we construct MLP models with 3 or 5 hidden layers, and they have a structure with a fixed or variable number of hidden layer nodes. As a result of the model evaluation experiment, MLP-based deep learning models shows significantly better performance in both Accuracy and AUC than MLPs, which showed the best performance among models that did not use deep learning. In particular, the model structure with 3 hidden layers, 32 batch size, and 64 nodes shows the best performance.

  • ECG(electrocardiogram) is a test used to measure the rate and regularity of heartbeats, as well as the size and position of the chambers, the presence of any damage to the heart, and the cause of all heart diseases can be found. Because the ECG signal obtained using the ECG-KIT includes noise in the ECG signal, noise must be removed from the ECG signal to apply to the deep learning. In this paper, the noise of the ECG signal was removed using the digital IIR Butterworth low-pass filter. When the performance evaluation of the three activation functions, sigmoid(), ReLU(), and tanh() functions, was compared using the deep learning model of LSTM, it was confirmed that the activation function with the smallest error was the tanh() function. Also, When the performance evaluation and elapsed time were compared for LSTM and GRU models, it was confirmed that the GRU model was superior to the LSTM model.

  • When conducting metaverse-based logistics education, educational, entertainment, and sense of reality were presented as preceding factors as factors that content should have, and the effect on learner satisfaction by mediating learner participation was verified. The results and implications are as follows. First, educational, entertainment, and presence were found to be important factors that can improve learners' participation. Since it is a content provided as part of university education, it can be expected that the educational value will be the highest, but entertainment has been identified as the most influential variable. Therefore, in order for metaverse-based logistics education to induce learners' participation, it is necessary to plan contents that students can enjoy and enjoy. Second, it was found that learner participation has a positive effect on learning satisfaction. Although it is a virtual world, if it is real and you can interact with other learners, you will be satisfied with your learning. Therefore, it is necessary to develop contents that can induce learners' participation in order to continuously provide learning satisfaction when providing metaverse-based logistics education.

  • Backgrounds/Aims: We aimed to build a machine learning tool to help predict low-grade intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) in order to avoid unnecessary surgical resection. IPMNs are precursors to pancreatic cancer. Surgical resection remains the only recognized treatment for IPMNs yet carries some risks of morbidity and potential mortality. Existing clinical guidelines are imperfect in distinguishing low-risk cysts from high-risk cysts that warrant resection. Methods: We built a linear support vector machine (SVM) learning model using a prospectively maintained surgical database of patients with resected IPMNs. Input variables included 18 demographic, clinical, and imaging characteristics. The outcome variable was the presence of low-grade or high-grade IPMN based on post-operative pathology results. Data were divided into a training/validation set and a testing set at a ratio of 4:1. Receiver operating characteristics analysis was used to assess classification performance. Results: A total of 575 patients with resected IPMNs were identified. Of them, 53.4% had low-grade disease on final pathology. After classifier training and testing, a linear SVM-based model (IPMN-LEARN) was applied on the validation set. It achieved an accuracy of 77.4%, with a positive predictive value of 83%, a specificity of 72%, and a sensitivity of 83% in predicting low-grade disease in patients with IPMN. The model predicted low-grade lesions with an area under the curve of 0.82. Conclusions: A linear SVM learning model can identify low-grade IPMNs with good sensitivity and specificity. It may be used as a complement to existing guidelines to identify patients who could avoid unnecessary surgical resection.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the basic materials needed to plan the NCS Learning Module to be used effectively in practical courses. In this study, teachers and students' satisfaction surveys were collected about the NCS (National Competency Standards) learning module, career and field practice, practical environment used in the construction subject course. This study was conducted on public high schools in Chungcheong province (including Daejeon), which is operating practice course using the NCS learning module. The research questions are as follows; First, how was the satisfaction of teachers and students in the practical subject class using NCS learning module? Second, what is the degree of satisfaction of teacher's career and field practice guidance, student's career decision and field practice after the practical course using NCS learning module? Third, the satisfaction level of the developed NCS learning module and practical subject class using the same was determined by setting whether the number of training of NCS-related teachers or the presence or absence of on-the-job training of students were affected? The results of the study are as follows; As a result of comparing the teachers' and students' satisfaction, the students showed satisfaction in all items, whereas the teachers showed 'content level', 'interest', 'necessary knowledge', 'skill acquisition', 'Improvement of practical skills (level of skill performance)', 'scale of experimental practice', and 'items of experimental practice equipment' were dissatisfied. It was found that the number of NCS related teachers' training (or absence) or the presence of students on the field had an effect on the satisfaction of the developed NCS learning module and the practical course using it. In order to fully utilize the developed NCS learning module in the practical course, it is required to develop and construct the teaching material of the teacher who can serve as an intermediary for conceptualization and understanding of job skills. It is necessary to increase the number of education and training specialists to positively reflect the demands of the education field.

  • Objective: To compare the effects of bone suppression imaging using deep learning (BSp-DL) based on a generative adversarial network (GAN) and bone subtraction imaging using a dual energy technique (BSt-DE) on radiologists' performance for pulmonary nodule detection on chest radiographs (CXRs). Materials and Methods: A total of 111 adults, including 49 patients with 83 pulmonary nodules, who underwent both CXR using the dual energy technique and chest CT, were enrolled. Using CT as a reference, two independent radiologists evaluated CXR images for the presence or absence of pulmonary nodules in three reading sessions (standard CXR, BSt-DE CXR, and BSp-DL CXR). Person-wise and nodule-wise performances were assessed using receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) and alternative free-response ROC (AFROC) curve analyses, respectively. Subgroup analyses based on nodule size, location, and the presence of overlapping bones were performed. Results: BSt-DE with an area under the AFROC curve (AUAFROC) of 0.996 and 0.976 for readers 1 and 2, respectively, and BSp-DL with AUAFROC of 0.981 and 0.958, respectively, showed better nodule-wise performance than standard CXR (AUAFROC of 0.907 and 0.808, respectively; p ≤ 0.005). In the person-wise analysis, BSp-DL with an area under the ROC curve (AUROC) of 0.984 and 0.931 for readers 1 and 2, respectively, showed better performance than standard CXR (AUROC of 0.915 and 0.798, respectively; p ≤ 0.011) and comparable performance to BSt-DE (AUROC of 0.988 and 0.974; p ≥ 0.064). BSt-DE and BSp-DL were superior to standard CXR for detecting nodules overlapping with bones (p < 0.017) or in the upper/middle lung zone (p < 0.017). BSt-DE was superior (p < 0.017) to BSp-DL in detecting peripheral and sub-centimeter nodules. Conclusion: BSp-DL (GAN-based bone suppression) showed comparable performance to BSt-DE and can improve radiologists' performance in detecting pulmonary nodules on CXRs. Nevertheless, for better delineation of small and peripheral nodules, further technical improvements are required.

  • This study investigates the effectiveness of foreign language learning through diverse treatments in virtual settings, particularly by differentiating virtual environments with three textual enhancement techniques. A 2 × 3 mixed-factorial design was used, treating virtual environments as within-subject factors and textual enhancement techniques as between-subject factors. Participants experienced two videos, each in different virtual learning environments with one of the random textual enhancement techniques. The results showed that the interaction between different virtual environments and textual enhancement techniques had a statistically significant impact on presence among groups. In examining main effects of virtual environments, significant differences were observed in flow and attitude toward pre-post learning. Also, main effects of textual enhancements notably influenced flow, intention to use, learning satisfaction, and learning confidence. This study highlights the potential of Metaverse in foreign language learning, suggesting that learner experiences and effects vary with different virtual environments.

  • Collaborative filtering method for personalization can suggest new items and information which a user hasn t expected. But there are some problems. Not only the steps for calculating similarity value between each user is complex but also it doesn t reflect user s interest dynamically when a user input a query. In this paper, classifying users by their interest makes calculating similarity simple. We propose the a1gorithm for readjusting user s interest dynamically using the profile and Bayesian learning. When a user input a keyword searching for a item, his new interest is readjusted. And the user s profile that consists of used key words and the presence frequency of key words is designed and used to reflect the recent interest of users. Our methods of adjusting user s interest using the profile and Bayesian learning can improve the real satisfaction of users through the experiment with data set, collected in University s library. It recommends a user items which he would be interested in.
