Simple predictive heat leakage estimation of static non-vacuum insulated cryogenic vessel

  • The diminishing of heat leak into cryogenic vessels can prolong the storage time of cryogenic liquid. With the storage of cryogenic liquid reducing, the heat leak decreases, while the actual storage time increases. Regarding to the theoretical analysis, the obtained results seems to be constructive for the cryogenic insulation system applications. This study presents a predictive assessment of heat leak occurring in non-vacuum tanks with a single layer of insulation. A Radial steady-state heat transfer, based on heat conduction equation, is taken into consideration. Graphical results show the thermal performance of the insulation used, they also allow us to choose the appropriate insulation thickness according to the shape and diameter of the storage tank.

  • Activation energy asymptotics (AEA) for Linan#s premixed-flame regime is revisited in this paper. First, the detailed AEA procedure for the premixed-flame regime is demonstrated, so that the practitioners of AEA could easily apply the method to their own problems. In addition, the controversies surrounding the premixed-flame regime, namely the closure controversy and fast-time instability paradox, are explained. Finally, the limitation of AEA, mainly arising from the wrong prediction of fuel leakage through the reaction zone, is examined and the Zel#dovich-Linan kinetics is introduced as an alternative to meet the needs of modern combustion analysis, where the detailed chemical structure of flame is demanded.

  • 전자기적으로 지지되는 임펠러를 가진 원심 혈액 펌프는 기존의 심장 펌프에 비해 많은 장점을 가지고 있지만, BVAD의 틈새에서 발생하는 유체 동역학적인 문제는 여전히 규명이 되지 않은 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 BVAD의 틈새에서 발생하는 혈액외상(blood trauma)의 예측에 대한 연구에 중점을 두고 있다. 일반적으로 원심 혈액 펌프의 설계를 위해 전자기적으로 지지되는 원심 혈액 펌프의 디스크 틈새에서 발생하는 혈액의 손상을 평가하는 방법으로 CFD를 이용한 방법이 널리 이용되고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 초기 원심 혈액 펌프의 설계 단계에서 펌프의 특성을 평가하기 위하여, 축 방향 틈새의 영향과 회전수 변화에 따른 누수경로의 전단 응력의 크기 평가를 CFD를 사용하여 해석하여 보았다.

  • 본 논문에서는 오손된 EPDM 배전용 현수애자에서 측정한 누설 전류의 파형을 분석하여 정확한 섬락 시기를 예측하기 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 이를 위하여 일정 시간 단위로 측정한 누설 전류들을 포락 한 후 레벨 교차율을 적용해 cdf 형태로 변환하였다. 획득된 cdf들은 서로 다른 기울기(각도)를 가지므로 애자의 섬락 시기를 예측하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 그러나 cdf들 간의 기울기 차는 매우 작아서 서로 구분되기 어려우므로 이를 해결하기 위하여 새로운 가중치를 정의하여 사용하였다. 실험 결과 제안한 방법은 배전용 현수애자의 섬락 시기를 적절히 예측할 수 있었다.

  • In the last five years, 45 people died and 104 were wounded because of carbon monoxide poisoning accident. CO poisoning accident is higher than any other gas accident in the rate of deaths/incidents. Most of these CO poisoning accidents were caused by defective exhaust tube in the old gas boiler and multi-use facility. In this study, the spread of CO gas released from leakage hole of exhaust tube was analyzed by computational flow modeling and concentration measuring test. CO gas leaked form exhaust tube in a building was highest concentrated near the ceiling and formed the circular currents along the walls. Through these experiments and simulation, the reasonable installation location of CO alarm was made certain and suggested.

  • This research compared several unsteady friction models for transient analysis of pipeline system. Unsteady friction is an important factor for accurate simulation of hydraulic transient. Steady friction, quasi-steady friction, Zielke's model and two versions of Brunone model were compared with measurement data of identical pipeline conditions. This study showed that the existing simple steady friction model can be useful for the safer design of pipeline system due to its overestimation of waterhammer, but introduction of more elaborate models are required for advanced analysis such as inverse transient analysis of friction or leakage and the preliminary analysis of water quality prediction of water distribution system.

  • The heat of hydration of cement the causes the internal temperature rise at early age, particulary in massive concrete structures such as a mat-slab of nuclear reactor building or a dam or a large footing. As the result of the temperature rise and restraint of foundation, the thermal stress enough to induce concrete cracks can occur. Therefore, the prediction of the thermal stress is very important in the design and construction stages in order to control the cracks developed in massive concrete structures. And, more creep and shrinkage take place at elevated temperatures in young concrete, Thus the effect of creep and shrinkage must be considered for checking the safety and servicebility(crack, durability and leakage).

21 cm signal from highly clustered Population III and Population II objects at high redshift

  • We present a prediction for 21cm differential brightness temperature (dTb) from a set of strongly clustered sources of Population III and II objects at high redshift, from a suite of numerical simulations of their formation and radiative processes. These objects are located inside a highly biased density environment ("Rarepeak"), which is a rare, high-density peak which extends to ~7 comoving Mpcs. We study the impact on the resulting 21 cm signal from their ultraviolet and X-ray properties. The boost of emission (dTb>0) by high-density environment, moderate leakage of X-ray photons, and strong absorption due to Lyman-alpha pumping contrive to make Rarepeak a discernible, spatially-extended (sky angle~10') object around z~15, which is found to be detectable as a single object by Square Kilometre Array (SKA) with integration time of ~[600-2000] hours. We also examine detectability of many such peaks through SKA precursors.

  • This paper deals with the coupled electromagnetic-mechanical field analysis for short-circuit electromagnetic force of the dry-type transformer. The short-circuit currents are calculated using external circuit in accordance with short-circuit test equipment. According to short-circuit current, the generated magnetic leakage flux density in dry-type transformer model is calculated by finite element method. The radially-directed electromagnetic forces in windings are calculated using electromagnetic field analysis and then axially-directed electromagnetic forces in windings are calculated using electromagnetic-mechanical field analysis. The calculated axially-directed electromagnetic forces in high voltage winding are compared to those of measured ones and showed good agreement with experimental results.

  • During esophagectomy and esophagogastrostomy, the prediction of anastomotic leakage relies on the operating surgeon's tactile or visual diagnosis. Therefore, anastomotic leaks are relatively unpredictable, and new intraoperative evaluation methods or tools are essential. A fluorescence imaging system enables visualization over a wide region of interest, and provides intuitive information on perfusion intraoperatively. Surgeons can choose the best anastomotic site of the gastric tube based on fluorescence images in real time during surgery. This technology provides better surgical outcomes when used with an optimal injection dose and timing of indocyanine green.
