졸-겔법에 의한 강유전체 박막의 제작 (Preperation of PZT ferroelectric thin films by sol-gel processing)

  • Crack-free and homogeneous compact and epitaxial lead zirconate titanate(PZT) ferroelectric thin films with perovsikte structure have been prepared by sol-eel method. Tetrabutyl titanate, lead acetate and zirconium nitrate are used as raw materials. Glacial acetic acid is used as a catalyst. Ethylene glycol monoethyl ether is used as a solvent. The annealing temperatures of th thin films are 600~900$^{\circ}C$. The values of the remanent polarization Pr, and the coercive field $E_c$, of the PZT ceramic thin films are 46, 35 ${\mu}C/cm^2$ respectively.

  • On the precipitatiopn and ripening reaction of the precipitates from a lead nitrate and an oxalic acid dissolved in ethanol, a new crystalline phase was obtained, whose X-ray diffraction data have not previously been reported. The crystal system was determined to be monoclinic. The unit-cell parameters were refined to a =10.613(2)$\AA$, b =7.947(2))$\AA$, c =6.189(1)$\AA$, and $\beta$=104.48(2)$^{\circ}$.

국내 무기안료 제조 및 취급 공정에서의 공기 중 크롬산연 노출 평가 (Evaluation of Workers' Exposures to Airborne Lead chromate in the Producing and Using Industries)

  • Lead chromate is made by sodium dichromate and lead acetate, and has being used widely in the part of pigment, paints, inks, plastics and so on. Even though lead chromate has health hazards which like both lead and chromium, there are a few study about pigment workplaces using lead chromate in Korea. The purpose of this study is to evaluate workers' exposure levels and airborne lead and chromium concentration in the pigment workplaces using lead chromate. There are 20 workers in the total 5 workplaces. 10 workers(50%) have been exposed to lead and 3 workers(15%) have been exposed to chromium, which exceeded the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists(ACGIH) Threshold Limit Value (Pb: $0.05\;mg/m^3$, Cr: $0.012\;mg/m^3$) and Korean Ministry of Labor's Standard. Geometric mean (GM) of airborne lead was highest in pigment ($0.0421\;mg/m^3$), paint ($0.0020\;mg/m^3$) and PVC coloring ($0.0007\;mg/m^3$), respectively(p<0.05). The result of airborne chromium concentration was paint ($0.0033\;mg/m^3$), paint ($0.0004\;mg/m^3$) and PVC coloring ($0.0003\;mg/m^3$). Also the lead and chromium concentration in the manual process is each 30 times and 10 times higher than the value in automatic process(p<0.01). In the classified process by detail, the concentration of airborne lead was $0.0638\;mg/m^3$ in grinding & packaging, mixture & after-measuring ($0.0436\;mg/m^3$), filtration & drying ($0.0402\;mg/m^3$), lead nitrate & dissolution($0.0129\;mg/m^3$), pigment commitment & mixture ($0.0013\;mg/m^3$) and dispersion & grinding ($0.0010\;mg/m^3$) (p<0.05). Moreover the concentration of a sample in weighting & packaging was $0.0023\;mg/m^3$. The concentration of lead in workers' blood was pigment (15.12 ug/dl), paint (4.74 ug/dl) and PVC coloring (2.50 ug/dl), and some samples have exceeded biological exposure limit. In conclusion, the depending on their work industry and process, workers have been exposed to the high lead chromate.

Bacillus sp. SK3l의 생물흡착제 흡착특성 및 생산 (Adsorption Properties and Production of Biosorbent from Bacillus sp. SK31)

  • 흡착제 생산균주를 선별하기 위하여 토양시료에서 분리한 홉착제 생산균주중 가장 뛰어난 흡착물질을 생산하는 균주, SK3l을 선별하였으며 분리균주 SK3l은 Bacilus속으로 동정되었다. Bacillus sp. SK3l에 의하여 생산된 흡착물질(생물흡착제 SK3l)은 ethanol 침전과 cetylpyridinium(CPC)침전을 통하여 정제하여 아연과 납 이온에 대한 흡착특성을 조사하였다. 생물흡착제 SK3l의 아연과 납 이온의 흡착량은 각각 52 mg/g과 112 mg/g이었다. Bacillus sp. SK3l 균주가 흡착제를 생산하기위한 flask수준에서의 배양조건들이 조사되었다. 흡착제 생산을 위한 최적 pH와 최적온도는 각각 7.5와 $30^{\circ}C$로 나타났다. 흡착제 생산시 주요한 탄소원과 질소원은 glucose와 ammonium nitrate이었다. 최적화된 배지에서의 흡착제 생산은 기초배지에서 보다 약 3배 증가하였다. Jar fermentor배양에서 배양 60시간에서 가장 많은 흡착제를 생산하였으며, 흡착제의 생산량은 9.2 g/$\ell$이었다.

습식화학법으로 제조된 티탄산 납의 형상 (Morphology of Lead Titanate Prepared by Wet Chemical Methods)

  • 졸겔 및 공침법으로 제조된 티탄산 납 분말의 형태를 하소온도와 하소시간의 함수로 조사하였다. 질산 납과 사염화 티탄의 혼합용액을 사용하여 40-43℃ 및 9.0-9.7 pH에서 PbTiO3 전구체를 제조하였으며, 350-1000℃에서 1-10시간동안 공기중에서 이들을 히소시켰다. 하소온도와 시간의 증가에 따라 입자의 크기가 증가하고 응집이 심화되었다. 졸겔법으로 제조된 분말을 700℃에서 히소시킬 때, 초기에 형성된 침상형 혹은 각주 형의 입자들은 하소가 진행됨에 따라 다면체형으로 변한뒤, 모서리가 둥근 다면체형 입자로 성장하였다. 공침법으로 제조된 분말은 결정화 과정중에 형태가 변화되지 않았다.

Synthesis and Characterization of Lead Zirconium Titanate Nanofibers by Electrospinnig

  • Lead zirconium titanate (PZT) is usually used as bulk and thin films. Due to high flexibility and piezoelectric, ferroelectric and pyroelectric properties, PZT fiber has attracted in a variety of fields such as sensor devices, non-electromechanical systems and non-volatile ferroelectric memory devices. And PZT fiber can be numerously synthesized and almost with the diameter of PZT fiber thicker than $10{\mu}m$. However, the electrospinnig method is cost effective and convenient. PZT obtained by electrospinning methodhas the diameter from sub-micro to nanometer. In this paper, the PZT/PVP nanofibers were synthesized with three precursors, lead nitrate, zirconium ethoxide and titanium isopropoxide. And the PZT nanofibers were fabricated after removal of PVP by annealing process at various temperature. The obtained PZT nanofibers were characterized by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for chemical properties, X-ray diffraction (XRD) for crystallinity and phase, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for morphologies. The diameter of PZT nanofibers were measured with SEM. From the SEM images, we confirmed that diameter of PZT nanofibers was hundreds of nanometers and decreased with increasing the annealing temperature. When the annealing temperature increased, the crystallinity of PZT nanofibers changed from pyrochlore to perovskite structure.

Copper and Lead Concentrations in Water, Sediments, and Tissues of Asian Clams (Corbicula sp.) in Bung Boraphet Reservoir in Northern Thailand (2008)

  • Bung Boraphet is the largest freshwater reservoir in Thailand. This study examined the accumulation of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in water, sediment and tissues of Asian clams (Corbicula sp.) within Bung Boraphet to assess the possible polluting effect of soil erosion and the dissolution of water soluble salts from the Nan River. Samples were collected from 12 study sites within Bung Boraphet between February and December 2008. The physicochemical parameters of the water including temperature, pH, turbidity, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, orthophosphates, biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, Cu, and Pb were measured. The water in Bung Boraphet was found to be medium clean according to the surface water quality standard of Thailand. The levels of Cu and Pb in the water were low but heavy metals were detected at higher levels in the sediment and tissues of Corbicula sp. In the near future, management practices and regulator approaches for Cu and Pb contamination will be needed to protect the water in Bung Boraphet.

Single-particle Characterization of Aerosol Particles Collected Nearby a Lead Smelter in China

  • China has been a top producer and exporter of refined lead products in the world since the year 2000. After the phasing-out of leaded gasoline in the late 1990s, non-ferrous metallurgy and coal combustion have been identified as potential major sources of aerosol lead in China. This paper presents the single particle analytical results of ambient aerosol particles collected near a lead smelter using a scanning electron microscopy- energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). Aerosol particle samples were collected over a 24-hour period, starting from 8 pm on 31 May 2002, using a high volume TSP sampler. For this near source sample, 73 particles among 377 particles analyzed (accounting for 19.4%) were lead-containing particles mixed with other species (S, Cl, K, Ca, and/or C), which probably appeared to be from a nearby lead smelter. Lead-containing particles of less than $2{\mu}m$ size in the near source sample were most frequently encountered with the relative abundances of 42%. SEM-EDX analysis of individual standard particles, such as PbO, PbS, $PbSO_4$, $PbCl_2$, and $PbCO_3$, was also performed to assist in the clear identification of lead-containing aerosol particles. Lead-containing particles were frequently associated with arsenic and zinc, indicating that the smelter had emitted those species during the non-ferrous metallurgical process. The frequently encountered particles following the lead-containing particles were mineral dust particles, such as aluminosilicates (denoted as AlSi), $SiO_2$, and $CaCO_3$. Nitrate- and sulfate-containing particles were encountered frequently in $2-4{\mu}m$ size range, and existed mostly in the forms of $Ca(NO_3,SO_4)/C$, $(Mg,Ca)SO_4/C$, and $AlSi+(NO_3,SO_4)$. Particles containing metals (e.g., Fe, Cu, and As) in this near source sample had relative abundances of approximately 10%. Although the airborne particles collected near the lead smelter contained elevated levels of lead, other types of particles, such as $CaCO_3$-containing, carbonaceous, metal-containing, nitrates, sulfates, and fly-ash particles, showed the unique signatures of samples influenced by emissions from the lead smelter.

국립민속박물관 소장 19~20세기 갓끈 재질 조사: 호박, 대모, 플라스틱, 유리를 중심으로 (Investigation of the 19th~20th century Hat String Materials at the National Folk Museum of Korea: Amber, Tortoise Shell, Plastics, Glass)

  • 갓끈은 조선시대 남성용 모자인 갓을 고정하는 실용적인 면과 함께 사용하는 재료의 다양화에 따라 신분을 나타내는 장식적인 구실도 하여, 금, 은, 옥, 마노, 호박, 명박, 산호, 청금석, 수정 등 다양한 고급 재료가 사용되어 왔다. 19세기 말 개항과 함께 근현대로 넘어오면서 갓끈의 재질이 어떻게 변천되었는지, 국립민속박물관 소장품 중 19~20세기 갓끈에 대해 재질을 조사하였다. 갓끈의 재질을 분석한 결과, 전통적인 재질로는 호박, 대모, 나무, 대나무가 사용되었으며, 상아, 유리(소다유리, 납유리, 알칼리혼합유리)와 19세기 이후 발명된 신소재인 플라스틱(셀룰로오스 나이트레이트, 페놀-포름알데히드, 폴리스티렌, 아크릴)이 갓끈 장식에 새롭게 사용되었다. 갓끈의 중앙 장식, 구슬, 대롱에 사용된 재료는 대모가 가장 많이 차지하며, 대나무, 나무, 호박 순으로 전통 재료의 사용 빈도가 높았다. 대나무는 대롱으로 사용하여 다른 재질의 중앙 장식과 구슬을 조합한 갓끈이 많아, 흥선대원군 집정시 의관과 문물의 간소화시책에 따른 죽영이 유행을 보여주고 있다. 호박은 갓끈의 중앙 장식과 구슬에 사용되었으며, 산지는 한국에서 발견되고 있는 호박 유물과 마찬가지로 유럽의 발틱 호박으로 동정되었다. 갓끈에 사용된 유리는 고대부터 조선시대까지 한국에서 출토되거나 전승되어온 소다유리나 알칼리혼합유리도 사용되었지만, 납유리에서는 Na2O가 검출되어 한국에서 발견되는 납유리 성분에서 벗어난 특징을 보여주어, 개항 후 해외에서 들어온 새로운 공예용 유리로 추정된다. 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트나 페놀-포름알데히드 등과 같은 플라스틱은 서구에서와 마찬가지로 전통재료인 대모, 호박, 산호 등을 대체하는 새로운 합성재료로써 도입되어 사용되고 있음을 보여주고 있으며, 셀룰로오스 나이트레이트는 열화에 의해 균열과 미세 균열, 부서짐과 황변이 관찰되고 있었다. 국립민속박물관 소장 19~20세기 갓끈 재질에 대한 조사를 통해, 개항이후 전통적인 재료의 사용과 함께, 대모나 호박과 같은 천연재료를 대체하기 위해 유리와 플라스틱과 같은 신소재의 도입이 확인되었다.

문화재 보존·보관용 천연염색지 개발(제2보) - 천연염색지의 기능성 연구 - (Development of Natural Dyed Korean Traditional Paper for Cultural Properties Conservation and Storage (Part 2) - Antifungal, Insect Repellent Activities and Stability on Metals -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the functional properties of natural dyed Hanji for cultural properties conservation and storage. To estimate functional properties of Hanji, antimicrobial, insect repellent test, and Oddy test were executed. Hanji dyed with 10% Golden thread (Coptis chinensis), a natural dye and silver nitrate mordanting showed the most excellent antifungal activities against A. niger, P. chrysogenum, and Trichoderma sp. before and after aging. The insects repellent test followed didn't indicate significant effects on treated Hanji against Lasioderma serricorne, Sitophilus zeamais, and Tribolium castaneum. According to Oddy test result, Hanji dyed with Golden thread and silver nitrate caused no significant corrosions on copper, silver, and lead after aging 28 days.
