Statement of problem. Intraoral corrosion not only affects the esthetic and function of metallic dental restoration, but also has biologic consequences as well. Therefore, corrosion is considered a primary factor when choosing the dental alloy and laboratory technique. Purpose. The objective of this study was to compare the effects of solder and laser weld on corrosion Material and methods. Test specimens were made of 2 types of gold alloys, Co-Cr and Ni-Cr alloy and fabricated 3 methods, respectively: as cast, solder, and laser weld. For the analysis of corroding properties, potentiodynamic polarization test and immersion test conducted. The potentiodynamic polarization scan curve were recorded in 0.9% NaCl solution(pH 7) using Potentiostat/Galyanostat Model 273A. All specimens were exposed to 0.9% NaCl solution(pH 2.3) during 14 days. Elemental release into corrosive solution was measured by atomic emission spectrometry Differences in corrosion potential and mass release were determined using ANOVA. Results and conclusion. Through analyses of the data, following results were obtained. 1. In Pontor MPF and Wiron 99, corrosion potential of the solder group was statistically lower than as cast and laser weld group (p<0.05) , but there was no difference between corrosion potential of solder group and laser weld group in Pontor MPF and no differences between as cast and laser weld group (p>0.05). In Jel-Bios 10 and Wirobond, there was no difference of corrosion potential according to joining methods(p>0.05). 2. In all tested alloys, the amount of released metallic ion was greatest in the solder group(p<0.05). There was no difference between as cast group and laser weld group in Jel-Bios 10 and Wirobond(p>0.05). 3. In scanning electron microscopic examination. except soldered Wiron 99 specimens, it is impossible to discriminate the corrosive property of solder and laser weld. 4. Under the this experimental circumstances, laser weld appears superior to the solder when corrosion is considered.

In this paper, we propose a method to inspect defects of injection molded automotive parts. In order to inspect them, we developed and used a line detection algorithm and a defect analysis algorithm. The line detection algorithm defines center point of a laser line and the inspection algorithm determines the defects of automotive parts using pattern data of inspected objects and the data results from the line detection algorithm. We evaluated the accuracy and the processing time of inspection and they showed good performance.
The premise of this research is the recent advancement of Building Information Modeling(BIM) Technology and Laser Scanning Technology(3D Scanning). The purpose of the paper is to amplify the potential offered by the combination of BIM and Point Cloud Data (PCD) for structural analysis. Today, enormous amounts of construction site data can be potentially categorized and quantified through BIM software. One of the extraordinary strengths of BIM software comes from its collaborative feature, which can combine different sources of data and knowledge. There are vastly different ways to obtain multiple construction site data, and 3D scanning is one of the effective ways to collect close-to-reality construction site data. The objective of this paper is to emphasize the prospects of pre-scanning and post-scanning automation algorithms. The research aims to stimulate the recent development of 3D scanning and BIM technology to develop Scan-to-BIM. The paper will review the current issues of Scan-to-BIM tasks to achieve As-Built BIM and suggest how it can be improved. This paper will propose a method of coordinating and utilizing PCD for construction and structural analysis during construction.
In the apparel industry, the technology has been advanced rapidly. The use of 3D scanning systems fur the capture and measurement of human body is becoming common place. Three dimensional digital image can be used for design, inspection, reproduction of physical objects. The purpose of this study is to develop a method that drafts men's basic bodice pattern from scanned 3D body surface shape data. In order to pursue this purpose the researchers developed pattern drafting algorithm. The 3D scanner used in this study was Cyberware Whole Body Scanner WB-4. The bodice pattern drafting algorithm from 3D body surface shape data developed in this study is as follows. First, convert geometric 3D body surface data to 3D polygonal mesh data. Second, develop algorithm to lay out 3D polygonal patches onto a plane using Auto Lisp program. The polygon meshes are coplanar, and the individual mesh is continuously in contact with next one The bodice front surface shape data in polygonal patches form was lined up in bust and waist levels. The back bodice was drafted by lining up the polygonal mesh in scapula, chest, and waist levels. in the drafts, gaps between polygons were formed into the darts.

In this paper, an optical system was designed for 3D imaging laser radar with optical scanner. In order to make it easy to scan, the system was designed to inscribe the transmitting objective lens in the receiving lens. In transmitting optics, the beam expander was designed to have a zoom mechanism so that the transmitted beam size would be 4.8 m or 6.8 m at 1 km distance, when the laser source's numerical aperture value is between 0.13 and 0.22. The beam diameter at the target 1 km away was confirmed by design program. The receiving optics for the returning beam from the target was designed for the $16{\times}16$ array detector with $100{\mu}m$ pixel width. The spot diameter in every pixel was designed and verified to be less than $55{\mu}m$. The receiving optics' obscuration ratio by transmitting optics was 11%.
In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional (3D) scanning system based on two line lasers. This system uses two line lasers with different wavelengths as light sources. 532-nm and 630-nm line lasers can compensate for missing scan data generated by geometrical occlusion. It also can classify two laser planes by using the red and green channels. For automatic registration of scanning data, we control a stepping motor and divide the motor's rotational degree of freedom into micro-steps. To this end, we design a control printed circuit board for the laser and stepping motor, and use an image processing board. To compute a 3D point cloud, we obtain 200 and 400 images with laser lines and segment lines on the images at different degrees of rotation. The segmented lines are thinned for one-to-one matching of an image pixel with a 3D point.
An oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) layer was formed on Zircaloy-4 tubes by a laser beam scanning process to increase mechanical strength. Laser beam was used to scan the yttrium oxide ($Y_2O_3$)-coated Zircaloy-4 tube to induce the penetration of $Y_2O_3$ particles into Zircaloy-4. Laser surface treatment resulted in the formation of an ODS layer as well as microstructural phase transformation at the surface of the tube. The mechanical strength of Zircaloy-4 increased with the formation of the ODS layer. The ring-tensile strength of Zircaloy-4 increased from 790 to 870 MPa at room temperature, from 500 to 575 MPa at $380^{\circ}C$, and from 385 to 470 MPa at $500^{\circ}C$. Strengthening became more effective as the test temperature increased. It was noted that brittle fracture occurred at room temperature, which was not observed at elevated temperatures. Resistance to dynamic high-temperature bursting improved. The burst temperature increased from 760 to $830^{\circ}C$ at a heating rate of $5^{\circ}C/s$ and internal pressure of 8.3 MPa. The burst opening was also smaller than those in fresh Zircaloy-4 tubes. This method is expected to enhance the safety of Zr fuel cladding tubes owing to the improvement of their mechanical properties.
Ochrobactrum anthropi is a non-fermentative oxidative gram-negative bacillus that produces oxidase. Distinguishing a mixed culture with non-fermenting bacteria having a similar appearance and oxidase-positive is difficult, and there is a limit to accurate identification with a biochemical identification system. This paper proposes that the Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry Platform (MALDI-TOF) method is useful for classifying bacteria that are difficult to identify using biochemical testing methods. As a result of analyzing five cases of O. anthropi examined using MicroScan, it took 6.5 days to the final report, which was 3.5 days more than the 3.0 days of E. coli. The pus sample in patient 5 was a mixed infection with Achromobacter xylosoxidans, and it took 11.3 days because of multiple subculture and retests. Four patients were over 60 years old with an underlying disease, and the possibility of opportunistic and nosocomial infections could not be excluded. Among them, samples collected after 92 days of hospitalization were resistant to imipenem and meropenem. Therefore, an examination using the MALDI-TOF method will be useful for the rapid and adequate treatment of patients with difficult identification, such as O. anthropi.

This study aims at filtering ALS points into ground and non-ground effectively through labeling and window based algorithm by utilizing 2D adjacency based on scan line. Firstly, points adjacency is constructed through minimal search based on scan line. Connected component labeling algorithm is applied to classify raw ALS points into ground and non-ground by utilizing the adjacency structure. Then, some small objects are removed by morphology filtering, and isolated ground points are restored by IDW estimation. The experimental results shows that the method provides good filtering performance( about 97% accuracy) for diverse sites, and the overall processing takes less time than converting raw data into TIN or raster grid.
A study of the non-linear optical properties of nanocrystal-Si embedded in SiO2 has been performed by using the z-scan method in the nanosecond and femtosecond ranges. Substoichiometric SiOx films were grown by plasma-enhanced chemical-vapor deposition(PECVD) on silica substrates for Si excesses up to 24 at/%. An annealing at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour was performed in order to precipitate nanocrystal-Si, as shown by EFTEM images. Z-scan results have shown that, by using 5-ns pulses, the non-linear process is ruled by thermal effects and only a negative contribution can be observed in the non-linear refractive index, with typical values around $-10-10cm^2/W$. On the other hand, femtosecond excitation has revealed a pure electronic contribution to the nonlinear refractive index, obtaining values in the order of 10-12 cm2/W. Simulations of heat propagation have shown that the onset of the temperature rise is delayed more than half pulse-width respect to the starting edge of the excitation. A maximum temperature increase of ${\Delta}T=123.1^{\circ}C$ has been found after 3.5ns of the laser pulse maximum. In order to minimize the thermal contribution to the z-scan transmittance and extract the electronic part, the sample response has been analyzed during the first few nanoseconds. By this method we found a reduction of 20% in the thermal effects. So that, shorter pulses have to be used obtain just pure electronic nonlinearities.
