페라이트 영구자석을 갖는 고속 매입형 영구자석 전동기의 특성해석 및 설계 (Design and Characteristic Analysis for High-speed Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with Ferrite Magnet)

  • We propose an interior permanent magnet syhchronous motor (IPMSM) with arc-shape ferrite permanent magnets (PMs) as a substitute for the rare-earth permanent magnet, and determine its optimal design through parametric study. First, we use 2D finite element analysis to analyze 4-poles and 6-slots initial model according to performance requirements and design parameters. The current angle of the maximum average torque considered in the analysis is different compared with the current angle of the minimum torque ripple. Thus, the parametric study for optimal rotor design is performed by varying the thickness and the offset radius of the PMs according to current angle. In particular, a narrow bridge is required in conventional IPMSM for reducing flux leakage; however, the increase in cogging torque in the analysis model saturates the narrow bridge (large offset radius). Therefore, we suggest an appropriate shape considering limiting conditions such as DC link voltage, average torque, torque ripple, and cogging torque taking into account performance requirements.

  • Due to the need for improved fuel consumption and the trend towards increasing the electrical content in automobiles, integrated starter generator (ISG) systems are being considered by the automotive industry. In this paper, in order to change the conventional generator of a vehicle, a belt driven integrated starter generator is considered. The overall ISG system, the design considerations for the claw pole type AC electric machine and a low voltage very high current power stage implementation are discussed. Test data on the low voltage claw pole type machine is presented, and a large current voltage source DC/AC inverter suitable for low voltage integrated starter generator operation is also presented. A metal based PCB (Printed Circuit Board) power unit to attach the 4-parallel MOS-FETs is used to achieve extremely high current capability. Furthermore, issues related to the torque assistance during vehicle acceleration and the generation/regeneration characteristics are discussed. A prototype with the capability of up to 1000 A and 27 V is designed and built to validate the kilo-amp inverter.

  • In this paper, we investigated the iron losses in the rotor core of interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM), which have distributed armature windings. From the analysis results, we can conclude that iron losses of rotor are definitely large at load condition if the number of slots per pole is fractional. Since the slot-pole combination may induce excessive heating, particular care should be necessary in design of PMSM for a high power rating application such as electric vehicles.

  • This paper presents a MIMO nonlinear controller for the power system consisting of a turbine and a synchronous generator connected to an infinite bus. The controller proposed is based on feedback input-output linearization; its main goal is to regulate the terminal voltage and frequency, and is to improve the transient stability under large disturbances and unexpected faults. It is guaranteed that the voltage converges to its reference value exponentially, and that the frequency and the mechanical/electrical power are bounded. The design procedure is tested on a single machine infinite bus power system through simulations, and is seen to be effective.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain techniques achieved while developing a transient stability program which is suitable to Korean power system. It concentrates on the development of a synchronous machine model, exciter models and turbine-governor models used in large-scale power system stability analysis. These proposed models enhance the performance of the developing program. This developing program has been tested with the KEPCO system, and the simulation results obtained from the program are compared to those of commercial programs.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm to construct the modular network model for SSR analysis by simply applying KCL to each node and KVL to all branches connected to the node sequentially. This method has advantages that the model can be derived directly from the system data for transient stability study and turbine/generator shaft model, the resulted model in the form of augmented state matrix is very sparse, and thus efficient SSR study of a large scale system becomes possible. The proposed algorithm is verified with the IEEE First and Second Benchmark models.

  • Transient Stability of a power systems is its ability to maintain synchronous operation of machine when subjected to a large disturbance. This paper presents a new methodology for speed-up transient stability evaluation in SIME. SIME is a hybrid direct method including time simulation to enhance flexibility. The First features of the proposed method are that generator grouping can be performed even in very stable cases and that the stability of a contingency can be evaluated from a short period of time simulation results. The second features of the proposed method are that using power-angle trajectory and subdividing contingency classification have improved the screening capability.

  • As the Kyoto Protocol, which aims at reducing greenhouse gases in accordance to the UNFCCC, came into force, research on environment friendly energy resources has been a matter of concern worldwide. As a general power generation system, among renewable energy resources, that is interconnected and operated with power system, the wind turbine is emerging as an effective alternative. Since power capacity of the wind turbine has been steadily increasing and its relative importance is also increasing in total facility capacity, we cannot ignore its effect. Because controlling generation output in the wind turbine is not as easy as in the synchronous machine due to its facility characteristics and it generates irregular output fluctuations when interconnected with power system, system interconnection was difficult. But the effect of large capacity wind turbine on isolated power system like Jeju island is serious problem on the frequency stability. Accordingly, it is necessary to analyze the effects of wind turbine on system interconnection and assess the optimum capacity of wind turbine that satisfies the most important principle of stable power supply. This paper have analyzed the effects of wind turbine capacity increases on the system and suggested the method of the capacity to achieve its steady operation. And It is applied to the Jeju island.

대규모 비선형 시스템의 새로운 계층별 최적제어 (A New Approach for Hierarchical Optimization of Large Scale Non-linear Systems)

  • 대규모 시스템 제어와 관련하여 몇 개의 부시스템으로 분할하여 처리하는 계층별 제어이론이 많이 연구되어 왔으며 특히 치수가 높은 대규모 비선형 시스템의 경우에 고차의 비선형 미분방정식을 동시에 적분을 해야하고 많은 계산량을 필요로 하므로 해를 구하기가 어려운 문제가 있다. 1980년대 Singh과 Hassan은 상호예측 알고리즘(two level prediction algorithm)을 제시한바 있고 이 방법은 비선형 대규모 시스템의 최적제어에 효과적이나 시스템 행렬 Q, R, S, H에 따라 제한된 최적화 구간에서만 성립되는 등 최적화 구간의 길이와 수렴성 여부가 행렬 값에 영향을 받는 알고리즘상의 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 수렴조건으로부터 평가함수에 구속조건(quadratic penalty term)을 부여하지 않는 새로운 개선된 알고리즘을 제시 적용하여 시스템 행렬 결정을 위한 과정 없이 수렴속도의 향상과 함께 최적의 수렴성 및 최적화 구간을 얻도록 했다. 분할된 비선형 시스템의 최적제어를 위해서는, 대수 반복연산만으로 2점 경계치 문제(two point boundary value problem)를 해결함으로써 기존의 수치 해석법에 비해 연산이 간단한 블록펄스 변환 방법을 사용해서 처리했다.

  • This paper propose a method to identify the motor parameters and improve input voltage error which affect the low speed position error of the back-emf(back electromotive force) based sensorless algorithm and to secure the operation reliability and stability even in the case where the load fluctuation is severe and the start and low speed operation frequently occurs. In the model-based observer used in this paper, stator resistance, inductance, and input voltage are particularly influential factors on low speed performance. Stator resistance can cause resistance value fluctuation which may occur in mass production process, and fluctuation of resistance value due to heat generated during operation. The inductance is influenced by the fluctuation due to the manufacturing dispersion and at a low speed where the change of the current is severe. In order to find stator resistance and inductance which have different initial values and fluctuate during operation and have a large influence on sensorless performance at low speed, they are commonly measured through 2-point calculation method by 2-step align current injection. The effect of voltage error is minimized by offsetting the voltage error. In addition, when the command voltage is used, it is difficult to estimate the back-emf due to the relatively large distortion voltage due to the dead time and the voltage drop of the power device. In this paper, we propose a simple circuit and method to detect the voltage by measuring the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) pulse width and compensate the voltage drop of the power device with the table, thereby minimizing the position error due to the exact estimation of the back-emf at low speed. The suitability of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiment.
