  • Stress drops of Brune's single-corner ${\omega}^2$ source model were estimated for the earthquakes (2.0$M3.5{\sim}4.0$ and increase up to $M4.5{\sim}5.0$ above which the level of the stress drop could be assumed to be flat or decrease according to whether the rupture process accompanies buried fault or surface rupturing. The converted data of corner frequency and seismic moment were nicely fitted to the relation of $M_0{\propto}f^3$ but show systematically higher corner frequencies for $M_0>10^15$ Nm. This relationship enables systematic evaluation of a scaling relation between magnitude and stress drop. The inverted level of the stress drop is comparable to the recent studies conducted domestic and abroad. A result of lower stress drop estimated by Jun(1991) is supposed to be due to the use of low frequency spectra and existence of two-comer source model around the Korean Peninsula.

  • Today, rolling stock has become a fast and convenient mode of transportation and has witnessed increased demand. But the speed improvement has resulted in increased aerodynamic noise and therefore residential districts near the railroad tracks are exposed to ever increasing noise level. A study on methodologies for measuring and appraising rolling stock's environmental noise has therefore become an important area of endeavor. In the case of the environmental noise, there are no changes in tone so prediction can be made by reducing areas around the railway. The present study explores estimation of the noise around the railway using scale model, and the source of the noise has been investigated as well. The scale model of rolling stock will have to be able to measure high frequency noise and it is required to be generated in a short amount of time. Since popping a balloon or firing a gun fits this requirement the present study analyzed the characteristics of these two different noise sources. Measurement was made in a large vacant lot and the reflection due to the ground was also examined. The method proposed here can be used in the future for predicting the environmental noise of railway vehicles.

  • Fukuoka earthquake on March 20, 2005 showed the potential hazard of large events out of S. Korea. From the viewpoint of seismic hazard, seismic amplitude decrease Q-1 is very important. Related to the crustal cracks induced by the earthquakes, the value of Q-1- high Q-1 regions are more attenuating than low Q-1 regions - shows a correlation with seismic activity; relatively higher values of Q-1 have been observed in seismically active areas than in stable areas. For the southeastern and central S. Korea, we first simultaneously estimated QP-1 and QS-1 by applying the extended coda-normalization method to KIGAM and KNUE network data. Estimated QP-1 and QS-1 values are 0.009 f-1.05 and 0.004 f-0.70 for southeastern S. Korea and 0.003 f -0.54 and 0.003 f -0.42 for central S. Korea, respectively. These values agree with those of seismically inactive regions such as shield. The low QLg-1 value, 0.0018f -0.54 was also obtained by the coda normalization method. In addition, we studied QLg-1 by applying the source pair/receiver pair (SPRP) method to both domestic and far-regional events. The obtained QLg-1 for all Fc is less than 0.002, which is reasonable value for a seismically inactive region.

  • This paper describes the procedure to predict steady and unsteady performances of a contrarotating propeller(CRP) by a mixed formulation of the boundary value problem(BVP) far the flow around a CRP. The blade BVP is treated by a classical vortex lattice method, whereas the hub BVP is solved by a potential-based panel method. Blades and trailing wakes are represented by a vortex and/or source lattice system, and hubs are represented by normal dipole and source distributions. Both forward and aft propellers are solved simultaneously, thus treating the interaction effect without iteration. The unsteady performance is computed directly in time domain. The new numerical procedure requires a large amount of storage and computing time, which is however no longer a limit in a modern computer system. Sample computations show that the steady performance compares very well with the experiments. The predicted unsteady behavior shows that the dominant harmonics of the total forces are multiples of not only the number of blades of the forward and aft propellers but also the product of both blade numbers. The magnitude of the latter harmonics, present also in uniform oncoming flow, may reach abort 50% of the mean torque for the aft propeller, which in turn may cause a serious vibration problem in the complicated contrarotating shafting system.

  • We suggest improvement direction of energy-saving design based on analysis of current situation in school facilities. School facilities have large area among public buildings. While the number of students is decreasing, the number of school and energy consumption is increasing year after year. School facilities have excellent heat insulation property, but it requires further examination about excessive heat insulation plan. School facilities are using gas heat pump actively for cooling and heating, but has difference in use ratio of ground source heat pump by region. Thus School facilities requires active using of ground source heat pump and BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic System).

  • Current trends in information system have led many companies to adopt security solutions. However, even with a large budget, they cannot function properly without proper security monitoring that manages them. Security monitoring necessitates a quick response in the event of a problem, and it is needed to design appropriate visualization dashboards for monitoring purposes so that necessary information can be delivered quickly. This paper shows how to visualize a security log using the open source program Elastic Stack and demonstrates that the proposed method is suitable for network security monitoring by implementing it as a appropriate dashboard for monitoring purposes. We confirmed that the dashboard was effectively exploited for the analysis of abnormal traffic growth and attack paths.

  • With the increased market demand for advanced specifications in smart phones, smart phones that have functions with wireless communications with high speed, cameras with high pixel and with high graphic processing ability have appeared. Furthermore, as traditional Augmented Reality technology has been practicable in mobile devices, many application's use AR technology, so AR's portability has been increased. But application with AR technology, which was implemented in smart phones has created capacity issues as applications are taking up a large portion of the memory capacity of phones. This research designed and implemented optimized AR technology by Mixare, AR open source, to solve such problems. As a result, I assured that there has been a decrease in application's memory used on the basis of mobiles.

  • Background: Sex influences is important to understand behavioral manifestations in a large number of neuropsychiatric disorders. We found electrophysiological differences specifically related to the influence of sex on psychopathic traits. Methods: The resting electroencephalography (EEG) activity and low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (LORETA) for the EEG spectral bands were evaluated in 38 teenagers with conduct disorder (CD). The 25 male and 13 female subjects had psychopathic traits as diagnosed using the Antisocial Process Screening Device. All of the included adolescents were assessed using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) criteria. The visually inspected EEG characteristics and the use of frequency-domain quantitative analysis techniques are described. Results: Quantitative EEG (QEEG) analysis showed that the slow-wave activities in the right frontal and left central regions were higher and the alpha-band powers in the left central and bitemporal regions were lower in the male than the female psychopathic traits group. The current source density showed increases in paralimbic areas at 2.73 Hz and decreases in the frontoparietal area at 9.37 Hz in male psychopathics relative to female psychopathics. Conclusions: These findings indicate that QEEG analysis and techniques of source localization can reveal sex differences in brain electrical activity between teenagers with CD and psychopathic traits that are not obvious in visual inspections.

  • We present multi-color, high-cadence photometric study of a distant SU UMa-type dwarf nova KSP-OT-201611a discovered by the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) Supernova Program (KSP). From October 2016 to May 2017, two outbursts with an interval of approximately 90 days were detected in the BV I-bands. The shapes and amplitudes of the outbursts reveal the nature of KSP-OT-201611a to be a SU UMa-type dwarf nova of outside-in origin with a superhump and an inferred orbital period of 1.69 h. The two observed bursts show a distinctively different color evolutions during the bursts due most likely to the viscosity different in accretion disk between them. The observed quiescent magnitudes and properties of the source during the outbursts indicate that it is at a large distance (~7.3 kpc) and height (~1.7 kpc) from the Galactic disk, possibly belonging to the group of poorly-studied Population II dwarf novae. The continuous monitoring of this source may offer a rare opportunity to study a PopII dwarf nova.

  • The rapid rise of the Internet and social media has resulted in a large number of text-based reviews being placed on sites such as social media. In the age of social media, utilizing machine learning technologies to analyze the emotional context of comments aids in the understanding of QoS for any product or service. The classification and analysis of user reviews aids in the improvement of QoS. (Quality of Services). Machine Learning algorithms have evolved into a powerful tool for analyzing user sentiment. Unlike traditional categorization models, which are based on a set of rules. In sentiment categorization, Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) has shown significant results, and Convolution Neural Network (CNN) has shown promising results. Using convolutions and pooling layers, CNN can successfully extract local information. BiLSTM uses dual LSTM orientations to increase the amount of background knowledge available to deep learning models. The suggested hybrid model combines the benefits of these two deep learning-based algorithms. The data source for analysis and classification was user reviews of Indian Railway Services on Twitter. The suggested hybrid model uses the Keras Embedding technique as an input source. The suggested model takes in data and generates lower-dimensional characteristics that result in a categorization result. The suggested hybrid model's performance was compared using Keras and Word2Vec, and the proposed model showed a significant improvement in response with an accuracy of 95.19 percent.
