  • High bandwidth memory a core technology of the future memory semiconductor industry, is attracting attention. Temporary bonding and debonding process technology, which plays an important role in high bandwidth memory process technology, is also being studied. In this process, total thickness variation is a major factor determining wafer performance. In this study, the reliability of the equipment measuring total thickness variation is identified, and the servo motor settling, and wafer total thickness variation measurement accuracy are analyzed. As for the experimental variables, vacuum, acceleration time, and speed are changed to find the most efficient value by comparing the stabilization time. The smaller the vacuum and the larger the radius, the longer the settling time. If the radius is small, high-speed rotation performance is good, and if the radius is large, low-speed rotation performance is good. In the future, we plan to conduct an experiment to measure the entire of the wafer.

  • This paper is the fourth on the combustion characteristics of the landfill gas in a constant volume combustion chamber for a large displacement volume commercial engine and the second dealing with torch ignition. It discusses the combustion characteristics of torch ignition on the basis of the heat release and visualization. The results show that the jet and/or spout from the torch promote combustion by accelerating the flame front in the main combustion chamber. In addition, a hot gas jet exists when the orifice diameter is 4 mm, whereas the flame passes directly through the orifice if the diameter is 6 mm or greater. In addition, the effect of torch ignition differs according to the combination of the methane fraction, torch volume, and orifice size because various combustion processes occur as a result of the interaction of these parameters. Finally, it was found that the most suitable torch should have an orifice diameter of not less than 6 mm and an area ratio of not more than 0.15 to secure a consistent combustion process in a real engine.

  • It has been pointed out that the collapses of unsaturated road embankments caused by earthquake are attributed to high water content caused by the seepage of the underground water and/or the rainfall infiltration. Hence, it is important to study influences of water content on the dynamic stability and deformation mode of unsaturated road embankments for development of a proper design scheme including an effective reinforcement to prevent severe damage. This study demonstrates dynamic centrifugal model tests with different water contents to investigate the effect of water content on deformation and failure behaviors of unsaturated road embankments. Based on the measurement of displacement, the pore water pressure and the acceleration during dynamic loading, dynamic behavior of the unsaturated road embankments with about optimum water content and the higher water content than the optimum one have been examined. In addition, an image analysis has revealed the displacement field and the distributions of strains in the road embankment, by which deformation mode of the road embankment with higher water content has been clarified. It has been confirmed that in the case of higher water content the settlement of the crown is large mainly owing to the volume compression underneath the crown, while the small confining pressure at the toe and near the slope surface induces large shear deformation with volume expansion.

  • The near-fault ground motion (NFGM) is characterized by a single long period velocity pulse of large magnitude. NFGM's have been observed in recent strong earthquakes, Izmit Turkey (1999), Kobe Japan (1995), Northridge USA (1994), etc. These strong earthquakes have caused considerable damage to infrastructures because the epicenter was close to the urban area, called as NFGM. Extensive research for the near-fault ground motion (NFGM) have been carried out in strong seismic region, but limited research have been done for NFGM in low or moderate seismic regions because of very few records. The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the effect of near-fault ground motions on reinforced concrete (RC) bridge piers with lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcing steels. The seismic performance of four RC bridge piers under near-fault ground motions was investigated on the shake table. In addition, a RC bridge pier is subjected to pseudo-dynamic loadings. Test results showed that large residual displacements were observed in RC bridge piers under NFGM. RC specimens on the shake table failed at relatively low displacement ductility, compared with the displacement ductility of RC bridge pier subjected to pseudo-dynamic loadings.

  • Typically, photoacoustic images are obtained in water or gelatin because the impedance of these mediums is similar to that of the human body. However, these acoustic mediums can have an additional mass effect that changes the resonance frequency of the transducer. The acoustic radiation impedance in air is negligible because it is very small compared to that of the transducer. However, the high acoustic impedance of mediums such as the human body and water is quite large compared to that of air, making it difficult to ignore. Specifically, in a case where the equivalent mass is very small, such as with a micro-machined ultrasound transducer, the additional mass effects of the acoustic medium should be considered for an accurate resonance frequency design. In this study, a piezoelectric micro-machined ultrasonic transducer (pMUT) was designed to have a resonance frequency of 10 MHz in the acoustic medium of water, which has similar impedance as the human body. At that time, the resonance frequency of the pMUT in air was calculated at 15.2 MHz. When measuring the center displacement of the manufactured pMUT using a laser vibrometer, the resonance frequencies were measured as 14.3-15.1 MHz, which is consistent with the finite element method (FEM) simulation results. Finally, photoacoustic images of human hair samples were successfully obtained using the fabricated pMUT.

  • Cost-effective high precision hybrid elements are presented in a hierarchical form for dynamic analysis of plates. The costs associated with controlling the vibrations of ferromagnetic plates can be minimized by adequate determination of the amount of electric current and magnetic field. In the present study, the effect of magnetic field and electric current on nonlinear vibrations of ferromagnetic plates is investigated. The general form of Lorentz forces and Maxwell's equations have been considered for the first time to present new relationships for electromagnetic interaction forces with ferromagnetic plates. In order to derive the governing nonlinear differential equations, the theory of third-order shear deformations of three-dimensional plates has been applied along with the von Kármán large deformation strain-displacement relations. Afterward, the nonlinear equations are discretized using the Galerkin method, and the effect of various parameters is investigated. According to the results, electric current and magnetic field have different effects on the equivalent stiffness of ferromagnetic plates. As the electric current increases and the magnetic field decreases, the equivalent stiffness of the plate decreases. This is a phenomenon reported here for the first time. Furthermore, the magnetic field has a more significant effect on the steady-state deflection of the plate compared to the electric current. Increasing the magnetic field and electric current by 10-times results in a reduction of about 350% and an increase of 3.8% in the maximum steady-state deflection, respectively. Furthermore, the nonlinear frequency decreases as time passes, and these changes become more intense as the magnetic field increases.

  • As the concerns regarding global worming were increased, the pressure of greenhouse gas(GHG) emission reduction on mobile source was also increased. Carbon dioxides contribute over 90% of total GHG emission and the mobile source occupies about 20% of this $CO_2$ emission. Therefore automotive exhaust is suspected to be one of the major reasons of the rapid increase in greenhouse effect gases in ambient air. In this study, in order to investigate $CO_2$ emission characteristics from gasoline passenger cars(PC), which is the most dominant vehicle type in Korea, 106 vehicles were tested on the chassis dynamometer. $CO_2$ emissions and fuel efficiency were measured. The emission characteristics by displacement, gross vehicle weight, vehicle speed and CVS-75/vehicle speed mode were discussed. Test modes were vehicle speed modes and CVS-75 mode that have been used to develop emission factors and to regulate for light-duty vehicle in Korea. It was found that $CO_2$ emissions showed higher large displacement, heavy gross vehicle weight, low vehicle speed and CVS-75 mode than small displacement, light gross vehicle weight, high vehicle speed and vehicle speed mode, respectively. From these results, correlation between $CO_2$ emission and fuel efficiency was also determined. The results of this study will contribute to domestic greenhouse gas emissions calculation and making the national policy for climate change.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the body's strategy through kinematic variables of the lower extremities and ground reaction forces to maintain the club-head speed and ball accuracy despite the three stances during the golf swing. Ten male golfers who official handicap two were participate in the experiment. All subjects performed swing after maintaining the address posture according to stance conditions(square; SS, open: OS, closed: CS). Using a 3D motion analysis system and force plateform, the results were calculated with the 7-iron full swing each stance. In result, there was no difference in center of displacement, and left and right hip and knee joint angle displacement. Left ankle joint was largely plantar-flexed in OS, and right ankle joint was largely performed in CS from the address to the downswing. From address to take-back, right foot had a large left direction and the left foot had a right direction were greater in OS than in CS. Therefore, despite various stances, maintaining the same posture at impact is thought to have a positive effect on club head speed and ball direction.

  • The structure of the turnout track is very complex, so it is a facility that is more difficult to maintain and requires detailed management than a general track type. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect on the deformation of the turnout system of the ground section due to the excavation work adjacent to the serviced urban railways. In this study, based on finite element analysis for each stage of adjacent excavation, the track deformation for each major location of turnout system was analyzed in consideration of the layout of the turnout system installed on the ground section, and the safety and stability was confirmed by comparing it with the track irregularity regulation. As a result of the study, it was found that the major construction stage affecting the track deformation of the turnout system on the ground section was the final stage of excavation. In addition, although the vertical displacement which is a vertical irregularity occurred relatively large, it was analyzed that the horizontal deformation was dominant overall, because of the excavation site is located on the side of the turnout system. In addition, it was analyzed that the amount of displacement at each major location of the turnout system is different, and there is a possibility that there may be a twist irregularity due to the deviation of the track deformation for each location according to the distance from the excavation site. Therefore, it was analyzed that it is necessary to classify and manage the importance of the track deformation of the turnout system of actual operating line, including additional displacement due to adjacent excavation, based on the track irregularity that has occurred at each location where the major deformation characteristics occur.

  • In this paper, the fluid-structure interaction of large floating structures has been rigorously analyzed and the shear effect on the structural deformation has been investigated in oblique waves. A constant panel method(CPM) based on the Green function method is implemented for computing the hydrodynamic pressure, while a finite element method(FEM) is applied for the structural response based on the Mindlin plate theory with including shear deformation. In order to validate the method, we compared numerical results with experimental ones of Mega Float carried out by Yago & Endo in head waves. General behavior shows good agreement but the local displacement at the ends is slightly different. The numerical results show that the radiation pressure due to the fluid-structure interaction is locally larger than that of wave excitation and mooring devices greatly reduce the response. It is observed that the shear effects among the total deformation constitutes about 4% in the case of Mega Float in oblique waves.
