Implement of Semi-automatic Labeling Using Transcripts Text (전사텍스트를 이용한 반자동 레이블링 구현)

  • In transcription for spoken language research, labeling is a work linking text-represented utterance to recorded speech. Most existing labeling tools have been working manually. Semi-automatic labeling we are proposing consists of automation module and manual adjustment module. Automation module extracts voice boundaries utilizing G.Saha's algorithm, and predicts utterance boundaries using the number and length of utterance which established utterance text. For maintaining existing manual tool's accuracy, we provide manual adjustment user interface revising the auto-labeling utterance boundaries. The implemented tool of our semi-automatic algorithm speed up to 27% than existing manual labeling tools.

A Study on the Effect of Perception Improvement through GMO Education: A Case of Kyungnam University Students (GMO 교육을 통한 인식개선 효과 연구: 경남대학교 학생을 대상으로)

  • This study conducted to examine the effects of a GMO education(n=108 university students). Although the experience of encountering GMO was 84.3%, awareness was moderate or lower for 76.9%, 62% were unaware of GMO labeling, and 44.4% had no previous education on GMO. After the education, GMO positive perceptions, specifically in terms of improving work efficiency(p<0.05), negative perception(p<0.001), and GMO knowledge increased significantly(p<0.05). The need for expanding GMO labeling (p<0.05) and adjust to 0.9%(exclusion criteria) for labeling(p<0.001) increased significantly. Moreover, there was a significant increase in the need and willingness to accept a price increase for the full labeling system(p<0.01), with a significant increase in the willingness to pay up to 20%(p<0.05). The pre-contemplation stage showed a significant decrease(p<0.001). The preparation and behavior and maintenance stage showed a significant increase(p<0.001). Based on these findings, it is suggested that GMO education be implemented to provide accurate information and emphasize the necessity of consumers' right to know and choose through the implementation of the full labeling system of GM foods.

  • Let a graph G = (V, E) be a (p, q) graph. Define $${\rho}=\{\array{{\frac{p}{2}} && p\;\text{is even} \\ {\frac{p-1}{2}} && p\;\text{is odd,}}$$ and M = {±1, ±2, … ± 𝜌} called the set of labels. Consider a mapping λ : V → M by assigning different labels in M to the different elements of V when p is even and different labels in M to p - 1 elements of V and repeating a label for the remaining one vertex when p is odd. A graph G with a pair mean cordial labeling is called a pair mean cordial graph. In this paper, we investigate the pair mean cordial labeling behavior of some union of graphs.

  • Let G = (V, E) be a graph with p-vertices and q-edges and let R be a finite zero ring of order n. An injective function f : V (G) → {r1, r2, , rk}, where ri ∈ R is called vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling, if it is possible to label the vertices x ∈ V with distinct labels from R such that each edge e = uv is labeled with f(e = uv) = [f(u) + f(v)] (mod n) and the edge labels are distinct. A graph admits such labeling is called vertex pair sum k-zero ring graph. The minimum value of positive integer k for a graph G which admits a vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling is called the vertex pair sum k-zero ring index denoted by 𝜓pz(G). In this paper, we defined the vertex pair sum k-zero ring labeling and applied to some graphs.

Customers' perception of the attributes of different formats of menu labeling: a comparison between Korea and the U.S.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study compared the perception of customers from Korea and the U.S. on the attributes of different formats of menu labeling The specific objectives were 1) to compare the customers' perceived usefulness, ease-of-understanding, clarity, and attractiveness of different formats of menu labeling between Korea and the U.S.; and 2) to compare the customers' use intention to different formats of menu labeling between Korea and the U.S. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A survey was conducted in Korea and the U.S. The participants were allocated randomly to view 1 of the 7 restaurant menus that varied according to the following types of menu labeling formats: (type 1) kcal format, (type 2) traffic-light format, (type 3) percent daily intake (%DI) format, (type 4) kcal + traffic-light format, (type 5) kcal + %DI format, (type 6) traffic-light + %DI format, and (type 7) kcal + traffic-light + %DI format. A total of 279 Koreans and 347 Americans were entered in the analysis. An independent t-test and 1-way analysis of variance were performed. RESULTS: Koreans rated type 4 format (kcal + traffic light) the highest for usefulness and attractiveness. In contrast, Americans rated type 7 (kcal + traffic light + %DI) the highest for usefulness, ease-of-understanding, attractiveness, and clarity. Significant differences were found in the customers' perceived attributes to menu labeling between Korea and the U.S. Americans perceived higher for all the 4 attributes of menu labeling than Koreans. CONCLUSIONS: The study is unique in identifying the differences in the attributes of different formats of menu labeling between Korea and the U.S. Americans rated the most complicated type of menu labeling as the highest perception for the attributes, and showed a higher use intention of menu labeling than Koreans. This study contributes to academia and industry for practicing menu labeling in different countries using different formats.

Longitudinal Mediated Effects of Informal Labeling on the Relationship between Adolescent Abuse and Academic Achievement: Application of Labeling Theory with Autoregressive Cross-Lagged Modeling (청소년의 피학대경험이 학업성취에 미치는 영향에 대한 비공식낙인의 종단적 매개효과 검증: 낙인이론과 자기회귀교차지연 모델을 적용하여)

  • This study examined longitudinal mediated effects of informal labeling on the relationship between adolescent abuse and academic achievement using autoregressive cross-lagged modeling. Data were obtained from the second, third, and fourth waves of the middle school student cohort (N=3,168) of the Korean Youth Panel Survey. The major longitudinal findings of this study are as follows: First, adolescent abuse was found to have a positive association with future informal labeling. Second, informal labeling was found to have a negative association with future academic achievement. Finally, the longitudinal relationship between adolescent abuse and academic achievement was partially mediated by informal labeling. Based on these results, this study suggests directions for adolescent abuse prevention. The need for education and prevention of informal labeling was discussed, as well as the direction of intervention programs for adolescents with experience of informal labeling. Furthermore, this study may provide empirical evidence for labeling theory and contribute to increasing awareness on the longitudinal influence of adolescent abuse and informal labeling.

  • This paper presents segmental labeling conventions proposed by SiTEC (Speech Information Technology Engineering Center) 2002 and proposes a new directions of a revision for a simpler version. The paper also reviews one of the prosody labelling conventions for Korean, K-ToBI convention(ver. 3.1) and proposes a couple of modifications and suggestions.

  • This paper describes a fast image labeling algorithm for the feature extraction of connected components. Labeling the connected regions of a digitized image is a fundamental computation in image analysis and machine vision, with a large number of application that can be found in various literature. This algorithm is designed for the surface defect inspection of Cold Mill Strip. The labeling algorithm permits to separate all of the connected components appearing on the Cold Mill Strip.

Analysis of Labelling Efficiency According to Differences of Rotating Time in a Asan Medical Center (AMC) RBC Labelling Method (서울아산병원의 적혈구 표지 방법에서 교반 시간 차이에 따른 표지 효율의 분석)

  • Purpose: In our nuclear medicine department, we suggested AMC RBC labeling method improved by modifying a part of existing modified in-vitro method to raise the efficiency of $^{99m}Tc$-RBC labeling. However, it needs to be more additional time and efforts than existing modified in-vitro method because the AMC RBC labeling method has to carry out the centrifugal separation process for 3~5 minutes. Therefore, in this study, we conducted researches to aim to maintain stable labeling effects and supplement a problem about additional time by reducing rotating time when labeling $^{99m}Tc$-RBC. Materials and Methods: This research has been conducted the object of 30 patients who examined study using $^{99m}Tc$-RBC and agreed to this research at our hospital from May 2009 to September 2009. We made 4 blood samples which consisted of ACD 1 cc along with 5 cc blood from each patient and used the AMC RBC labeling method. At this moment, each labeling efficiency was calculated by different rotating time 5 min, 10 min, 15 min, and 20 min and then we compared differences. Results: As a result, When comparing the $^{99m}Tc$-RBC labeling method efficiency by using the AMC RBC labeling method which differents from rotating time, each labeling efficiency were $92.3{\pm}5.0%$ in 5 min, $95.9{\pm}5.0%$ in 10 min, $97.4{\pm}4.9%$ in 15 min and $97.7{\pm}4.8%$ in 20 min. We analyzed differences of the labeling efficiency from change of rotating time by using an one-way ANOVA and verified that in Duncan method. There was relatively efficiency low in 5min rotating time and no statistically significant change in over. Conclusions: When comparing a existing method, the AMC RBC labeling method which goes through the centrifugal separation process again offers more favorable condition to combine RBC with $^{99m}TcO4^-$ by eliminating an plasma ingredient. When using the modified in-vitro method, we have almost 20 min to rotate to acquire stable labeling efficiency. But, when using the AMC RBC labeling method, we acquire labeling efficiency well what we want within only 10 min to rotate. Decrease of rotating time can complement the AMC RBC labeling method which goes through the centrifugal separation process again and also provide more rapid study such as G-I bleeding study due to fast labeling.

A Study on the Awareness of Female-Consumers for Nutrition Labeling System (영양표시 제도에 대한 여성소비자 인식에 관한 연구)

  • This study had carried out to investigate the usage status of customer, the positive effects and problems, and the most important items of the nutrition labeling at purchasing the food etc. on the current nutrition labeling system in order to establish the customer-centric nutrition labeling system. Survey was carried out by questionnaire method that is targeted on adult female above 20 years old in Seoul and Kyeongnam area from May to June, 2004. For the experience of checking the nutrition label of the processed domestic and imported processed food, 82% and 75.4% of the respondents were replied 'have checked' respectively. For the positive effects due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'easy to compare with other products' and 'improve the products quality'. For the problems of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'different criteria for each product' and 'incendiary purchasing due to false or exaggerated labeling', and gave the higher scale for the positive effects than the problems relatively. For the necessity of the nutrition labeling system, 96.2% of the respondents were replied 'necessary', and it was indicated a significant difference on age and marital status(p<.01). For the price rising due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, 55.2% of respondents agreed, and it was indicated a very significant difference on age and monthly income(p<.001). For the most important nutrition labeling items at purchasing the food, the respondents were replied 'total calorie' on most of the food, and in addition, they checked carefully the lipid, cholesterol, protein, Ca, and Fe.
