Objective: To report the clinical effect of Korean medicine treatment in an adolescent patient diagnosed with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with obesity. Methods: The patient was treated from July 9th, 2014 to August 7th, 2014. He was taking Saenggangeonbi-tang (生肝建脾湯) during the treatment period. He also undertook regular exercise and regulated his diet to reduce body weight. Results: The patient’s AST, ALT, and GGT levels were significantly decreased. Total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL levels were also decreased, and HDL level was increased. His body weight and body mass index (BMI) were decreased. Conclusions: The results suggest that Saenggangeonbi-tang with exercise and regulated diet could be an effective treatment for adolescent NAFLD with obesity in clinics.

Objective: This study evaluated a clinical case of a patient with Rovazet-induced abnormal liver function treated with intradermal acupuncture. Method: A 59-year-old woman with abnormal liver function induced by Rovazet ceased taking the drug and instead received intradermal acupuncture treatment. After 15 days, clinical symptoms and laboratory test results were evaluated. Results: Aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase levels decreased, and clinical symptoms such as nausea and fatigue improved after treatment with intradermal acupuncture and cessation of the Rovazet. Conclusion: This study meaningfully examined a clinical case of a patient with abnormal liver function induced by a lipid-lowering agent, which is uncommon in Korea. Unfortunately, the lack of clear evidence and the use of only one case are limitations of the study.

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of the oriental medicine(Sojeockjeongwonsan) on a Jeock-Jeung patient. The clinical data was analyzed on a patient with Jeock-Jeung, deemed due to Gangiulgyul(肝氣鬱結) and Junggiheoyak(正氣虛弱). The patient’s main symptoms were abdominal pain and abdominal mass. The patient was admitted to Dae-Gu Hanny University Dae-Gu Oriental Medicine Hospital. Clinical symptoms, including abdominal pain, abdominal mass and general condition, improved after treatment. This study suggests that Sojeockjeongwonsan is significantly effective in treatment of a Jeock-Jeung.

Objective : This study was designed to evaluate the effects of oriental medicine therapy on a normal pressure hydrocephalus patient. Methods : The clinical data was analyzed on a patient with normal pressure hydrocephalus whose main symptoms were dementia, gait disturbance and urinary incontinence. The patient was admitted to the internal medicine department of Dong-shin University Oriental Hospital from December 7, 2002, and remaind until January 20, 2003. He was treated with herbal medicine(Yukmijiwhangtang), acupuncture and moxa therapy. Results : After treatment, improvement was seen in dementia, gait disturbance, and urinary incontinence. Conclusions : The study suggests that oriental medicine therapy is significantly effective on the treatment or normal pressure hydrocephalus.
