  • Different kinds of information are used when solving tasks that arise in the life cycle of an applied knowledge based system (KBS). Many of these tasks are still under investigation. Their solving methods are often researched independently of each other due to complexity of the tasks. As a result, systems that realize these methods turn out to be incompatible and therefore could not be used together in the lifecycle of a KBS. The following problem arises here: how to support the full life cycle of a KBS. This paper introduces a class of computer knowledge banks that are intended to support the full life cycle of KBSs. Primary tasks that arise in the full life cycle of a KBS are analyzed. The architecture of a knowledge bank of the introduced class is presented, including an Information Content, a Shell of the Information Content and a Software Content. General requirements on these components are formulated on the basis of the analysis. These requirements depend on the current state of understanding in the life cycle of KBSs.

  • An important element to consider in information subjects is problem solving skills. It is problem solving skills that emphasize "practical usage of learning" in which knowledge of information subjects is integrated along with the cross curricular characteristics of the information subjects. What is usually considered paramount in a subject is knowledge, so the question is, should problem solving be considered more important in information subjects? This study discusses the foundation of subjects based on knowledge in information science, and the specifics of the 2014 amendment to the U.K. curriculum. And based on the core subjects of the U.K. curriculum, this study also offers educational implications as to how knowledge and problem solving skills should be discussed.

A Study of Knowledge Creating Organizational Memory (지식 창조적 조직메모리에 관한 연구)

  • For the purpose of new‘organizational knowledge centric knowledge management’, this paper proposes the knowledge creating organizational memory which shows the knowledge creation in organization according to the dialectical circulation between the domain knowledge and the task knowledge, based on the Yin Yang theory. This paper defines two kinds of organizational knowledge such as the domain knowledge and task knowledge and designs them in the pursuit of its lifecycle. Knowledge creating organizational memory is designed to three knowledge components that circulate through the domain knowledge and the task knowledge according to the object-oriented methodology. Organizational knowledge is designed into the graphical structure of ( i ) knowledge ( ⅱ ) relation between knowledge objects and ( ⅲ ) degree of relation, which receive the legacy of organizational knowledge such as data schema, process model and knowledge base. This design of organizational knowledge can be applied to CBR(Case Based Reasoning), one of knowledge mining tools to create new organizational knowledge.

  • With the increasing demand for and utilization of large language models (LLMs), the risk of user sensitive information being inputted and leaked during the use of LLMs also escalates. Typically recognized as a tool for mitigating the hallucination issues of LLMs, knowledge graphs, constructed independently from LLMs, can store and manage sensitive user information separately, thereby minimizing the potential for data breaches. This study, therefore, presents a knowledge graph-based chatbot that transforms user-inputted natural language questions into queries appropriate for the knowledge graph using LLMs, subsequently executing these queries and extracting the results. Furthermore, to evaluate the functional validity of the developed knowledge graph-based chatbot, performance tests are conducted to assess the comprehension and adaptability to existing knowledge graphs, the capability to create new entity classes, and the accessibility of LLMs to the knowledge graph content.

  • With the rapid changes of business environments and the tremendous amount of information generated from those environments, most companies must learn to manage those changes and information more effectively. Furthermore, within those amounts of information, the information that meets with achieving the goal of each company should be selected and managed as a core competency, i.e. the knowledge, visible and invisible assets of the company. Knowledge management, as a tool of creating, sharing, and applying such knowledge, has pursued those requirements of companies and been studied by many researchers and consultants, especially focusing on the Knowledge Map'. It is said that a knowledge map is a powerful tool for scanning and managing the knowledge that exists in a company and that it is the most important part of establishing a knowledge management base. Until now, however, there have been no specific or practical models for establishing a knowledge map, in spite of the concern. For this reason, this paper suggests a practical model for establishing a knowledge map in terms of a knowledge acquisition procedure based on the traditional research concerning concept maps. In addition to this, for examining the validity of the model, a case study on the 'P' steel and iron company has been performed. This paper's methodology on developing a knowledge map and the procedures to apply them to the real business environment will suggest a cornerstone in the field of practical implementation of knowledge management.

  • Ontology specifies the knowledge in a specific domain and defines the concepts of knowledge and the relationships between concepts. It is possible to provide the service based on the semantic web through the ontology. Therefore, to specify and define the knowledge in a specific domain, it is required to generate the ontology which conceptualizes the knowledge. Accordingly, to search the information of potential customers for home-delivery marketing of post office, we design the specific domain to generate the ontology based on the semantic web in this paper. And we propose how to retrieve the information, using the generated ontology. We implement the data search robot which collects the information based on the generated ontology. Also, we confirm that the ontology and the search robot perform the information retrieval exactly.

  • 컴퓨팅 환경에서 각종 보안 위협들의 핵심에는 악성 실행파일들이 있다. 전통적인 시그니처 기반의 보안 시스템들은 악의적인 실행파일들 중에서 알려지지 않은 것들에 대해서는 런타임 탐지에 어려움이 있다. 그러한 이유로 런타임 탐지를 위해 시그니처가 필요 없는 정적, 동적 분석 방법들이 다각도로 연구되어 왔으며, 특히 악성 실행파일을 실제 실행한 후 그 동작상태를 모니터링 하는 행위기반 동적 분석방법들이 많은 발전을 이루어왔다. 그러나 대부분의 행위기반 분석방법들은 단순히 몇 가지 행위나 비순차적인 분석정보를 제공하기 때문에, 차후 악성여부를 최종 판단하는 방법론에 적용하기에는 그 분석정보가 충분하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 악성 실행파일이 실행되는 동안 발생할 수 있는 행위들을 분류하고, 이를 모니터링 하는 프로토타입 프로그램을 구현하였다. 또한, 악성 실행파일을 직접 실행하는 것은 제한된 컴퓨팅 환경에서 이루어지기 때문에, 실제 악성 실행파일을 모니터링 한 결과를 토대로 행위기반 모니터링 방법이 극복해야 될 이슈들에 대해서도 언급하고 있다.

  • Assuming that the knowledge creation and retrieval functions could be the most important factors for a successful knowledge management(KM) especially during the promotion stage of KM, this study suggests an e-learning application as one of best methods for producing knowledge and also the integrated knowledge repository model in which learning, knowledge. and information objects can be semantically associated through topic map-based knowledge map. The traditional KM system provides a simple directory-based knowledge map. which can not provide the semantic links between topics or objects. The proposed model can be utilized as a solution to solve the above-mentioned disadvantages of the traditional models. In order to collect the basic data for the proposed model, first, case studies utilizing interviews and surveys were conducted targeting at three Korean insurance companies' knowledge managers(or e-learning managers) and librarians. Second, the related studies and other topic map-based pilot systems were investigated.

  • The growing emphasis on knowledge management is given to research institutes whose work processes including R&D are mainly focused on knowledge or technology. It is due to the fact that the system integrating, sharing and generating knowledge serves as the growth engine of those institutes. This study creates the knowledge management framework based on the research process which is the key process in research institutes, and applies to POSCO Research Institute(POSRI) who is a leading institute in this domain. Practical framework and methodology are found in POSRI through systematic operation of knowledge management process.
