In this paper, the informative space is proposed to implant ubiquitous functions into physical spaces. We merge physical and virtual spaces through the space structurization using an RFID system, and solve the space localization and mapping problem for a robot to navigate through the distribution and synthesis of information and knowledge. To distribute knowledge flexibly and reliably to changing environment and also to develop a system which allows a robot to invoke and merge the distributed knowledge more freely, we employ a novel approach of knowledge management based on Web services. The proposed method is verified by building a physical space with two kinds of RFID tags and a virtual space with knowledge database based on Web services.

It is known that about 15 to 40 percent of total design time is spent on retrieving information such as standard parts handbook data, engineering equations, previous designs. This paper describes a knowledge management system for machine tool design. Product structuring, change management, and complex design knowledge management are possible through the developed system. The system can speed up the design process by making necessary data instantly available as it is needed and keeping track of all the relevant design information and knowledge including individual decisions, design intentions, documents, and drawings.

Recently, the demand for connection between various heterogeneous dataset and BIM as a construction data model hub is increasing. In the past, in order to connect model between BIM and heterogeneous dataset, related dataset was stored in the RDBMS, and the service was provided by programming a method to link with the BIM object. This approach causes problems such as the need to modify the database schema and business logic, and the migration of existing data when requirements change. This problem adversely affects the scalability, reusability, and maintainability of model information. This study proposes an ontology BIM-based knowledge service framework considering the connectivity and scalability between BIM and heterogeneous dataset. Through the proposed framework, ontology BIM mapping, semantic information query method for linking between knowledge-expressing dataset and BIM are presented. In addition, to identify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the prototype is developed. Also, the effectiveness and considerations of the ontology BIM-based knowledge service framework are derived.

Although data mining promises a new paradigm to discover medical knowledge form a database, there are many problems to be solved before real application is feasible. We had the chance to provide a data set to be analyzed as a discovery challenge by using various data mining techniques at the PKDD conference. As data providers, we evaluated and discussed results and clarified problems.

IT시장분석기관인 KRG(Knowledge Research Group)가 국내 300개 대학을 대상으로 조사해 발표한 '국내 대학 원격교육 도입 현황 보고서'에 따르면 국내 대학(2년제 포함)의 원격교육에 관한 관심이 날로 높아지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 네트워크 성능이 발달과 쌍방향 비실시간 교육에 대한 수요확대에 힘입어 국내 대학들은 절반 가까이가 원격교육 시스템을 도입하고 있으며, 비 도입 대학들도 60% 이상이 원격교육 시스템을 도입하거나 도입을 검토하고 있다. 특히 텍스트 중심의 교육보다는 동영상과 연계된 멀티미디어 원격교육에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 것으로 보인다. 국내 대학들의 원격교육 솔루션 도입 실태를 살펴보고, 앞으로 원격교육 시장의 발전을 예측해 보고자 한다.

A set of text database is indispensable to the probabilistic models for speech recognition, linguistic model, and machine translation. We introduce an environment to canstruct text databases : an automatic tagging system and a set of tools for lexical knowledge acquisition, which provides the facilities of automatic part of speech recognition and guessing.

The development of a practical technology intelligence system requires a knowledge base that structures the core information and its relationship distilled from large volumes of technical data. Previous studies have mainly focused on the methodological approaches for technology opportunities, while little attention has been paid to constructing a practical knowledge base. Therefore, this study proposes a procedure to construct a function-based knowledge base for technology intelligence. We define the product-function-technology relationship and subsequently present the detailed steps for the knowledge base construction. The knowledge base, which is constructed analyzing 1110582 patents between 2009 and 2013 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office database, contains the functional knowledge of products and technologies and the relationship between products and technologies. This study is the first attempt to develop a large-scale knowledge base using the concept of function and has the ability to serve as a basis not only for furthering technology opportunity analysis methods but also for developing practical technology intelligence systems.

본 연구의 목적은 지식기반관점에서 인터넷 포탈에서의 지식공유 유형을 분석하는 것이다. 또한 사용자의 지식공유 행태를 고찰함으로써 인터넷 포탈의 진화과정에 대한 통찰을 얻고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 지식공여와 지식수집이라는 2가지 차원을 기반으로 지식공유 유형을 제시하고, 한국의 주요한 인터넷 포탈에 대한 사례분석을 통하여 제시한 유형을 검증하였다. 연구의 결과에서 협업, 축적 및 출판이라는 3가지 유형의 인터넷 포털 지식공유 유형이 도출되었다. 또한 사용자의 지식공유 행태는 인터넷 포탈 진화과정의 주요동인으로서 작용한다는 것을 제시하였다.

The EST Knowledge Integrated System, EKIS (http://ekis.kribb.re.kr), was established as a part of Korea's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology initiative for genome sequencing and application research of the biological model organisms (GEAR) project. The goals of the EKIS are to collect EST information from GEAR projects and make an integrated database to provide transcriptomic and metabolomic information for biological scientists. The EKIS constitutes five independent categories and several retrieval systems in each category for incorporating massive EST data from high-throughput sequencing of 65 different species. Through the EKIS database, scientists can freely access information including BLAST functional annotation as well as Genechip and pathway information for KEGG. By integrating complex data into a framework of existing EST knowledge information, the EKIS provides new insights into specialized metabolic pathway information for an applied industrial material.

최근 대부분 기업들 환경에서의 정보 시스템들은 지역적으로 분산되어 있고 다양한 이종의 데이터 소스들로 구성되어 있다. 따라서 사용자가 의사 결정을 위해 정보를 얻는 것은 어렵다. 이러한 문제를 효율적으로 해결하기 위해 사용자에게 단일 인터페이스를 제공하고, 이기종 시스템들 간에 구축된 데이터베이스 시스템들은 각각 독립성을 유지하면서 하나의 인터페이스처럼 투명성을 제공할 필요성이 있다. 본 논문에서는 카테고리, 표준 온톨로지, 로케이션 온톨로지, 지식베이스로 구성된 XMDR을 제안한다. 표준 온톨로지는 데이터 표현에 사용되는 명칭, 속성, 관계성에 대한 이질적인 문제를 해결한다. 로케이션 온톨로지는 각 레거시 시스템을 연결하는 중간자(mediation)역할을 수행한다. 지식 베이스는 용어 공유를 위한 관계성을 정의한다. 적응적 검색은 로케이션 온톨로지에 의한 사이트 가중치의 반영과 지식 베이스의 다양한 형태의 지식 공유 및 통합을 통한 검색 시스템을 제안하고, 구조화되지 않은 지식들을 어떻게 공유할 것인가에 대한 개념적인 도메인 모델을 제시한다.
