  • Sn-Pb narrow-bandgap perovskite solar cells, which is a light-harvesting layer thicker than 1.3 micrometers, is needed to enhance the low photocurrent. The fabrication of such a thick film through solution processing is a key challenge. Here, we studied and characterized the film by using a precursor solution of increased concentration, comparing it with the universally used 1-micrometer Sn-Pb perovskite film. The increase in molar concentration clearly induced thickness enhancement, but we observed that it also created numerous voids at the interface with bottom charge transporting layer. We hypothesized that these voids might hinder the increase in photocurrent associated with thickness enhancement. By introducing methylammonium chloride (MACl), we successfully fabricated Sn-Pb perovskite film with a thickness of 1.3 micrometer and no voids. Void-controlled Sn-Pb perovskite solar cells not only demonstrated superior short-circuit current density compared to those with voids but also operated smoothly under light exposure.

  • Background : An excessive accumulation of neutrophils in lung tissue has been known to play an important role in mediating the tissue injury among the adult respiratory distress syndrome, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and cystic fibrosis by releasing toxic oxygen radicals and proteolytic enzymes. Therefore, it is important to understand a possible mechanism of neutrophil accumulation in lung tissue. In many species, exposure to hyperoxic stimuli can cause changes of lung tissues very similar to human adult respiratory distress syndrome and neutrophils are also functioning as the main effector cells in hyperoxic lung injury. The purpose of the present study was to examine whether neutrophils function as a key effector cell and to study the nature of possible neutrophil chemotactic factors found in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from the hyperoxia exposed rats. Methods : We exposed the rats to the more than 95% oxygen for 24, 48, 60 arid 72 hours and bronchoalveolar lavage(BAL) was performed. Neutrophil chemotactic activity was measured from the BAT- fluid of each experimental groups. We also evaluated the molecular weight of neutrophil chemotactic tractors using fast performance liquid chromatography and characterized the substances by dialyzer membrane and heat treatment. Results : 1) The neutrophil proportions in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid began to rise from 48 hours after oxygen exposure, and continued to be significantly increased with exposure times. 2) chemotactic index for neutrophils in lung lavages from rats exposed to hyperoxia was significantly higher in 48 hours group than in control group, and was significantly increased with exposure time. 3) No deaths occured until after 48 hours of exposure. However, mortality rates were increased to 33.3 % in 60 hours group and 81.3 % in 72 fours group. 4) Gel filtration using fast performance liquid chromatography disclosed two peaks of neutrophil chemotactic activity in molecular weight of 104,000 and 12,000 daltons. 5) Chemotactic indices of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were significantly deceased when bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was treated with heat ($56^{\circ}C$ for 30 min or $100^{\circ}C$ for 10 min) or dialyzed (dialyzer membrane molecular weight cut off : 12,000 daltons). Conclusion : These results suggested that the generation of neutrophil chemotactic factor and subsequent neutrophil influx into the lungs are playing an important roles in hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury. Neutrophil chemotactic factor in the lung lavage fluids consisted of several distinct components having different molecular weight and different physical characteristics.

  • Mobile Virtual Private Network (MVPN) provides VPN services without geographical restriction to mobile workers using mobile devices. Coexistence of Mobile IP (MIP) protocol for mobility and IPsec-based VPN technology are necessary in order to provide continuous VPN service to mobile users. However, Problems like registration failure or frequent IPsec tunnel re-negotiation occur when IPsec-based VPN Gateway (GW) and MIP are used together. In order to solve these problems, IETF proposes a mechanism which uses external home agent (x-HA) located external to the corporate VPN GW. In addition, based on the IETF proposal, a mechanism that assigns x-HA dynamically in the networks where MN is currently located was also proposed with the purpose to reduce handover latency as well as end-to-end delay. However, this mechanism has problems such as exposure of a session key for dynamic Mobility Security Association (MSA) or a long latency in case of the handover between different networks. In this paper, we propose a new MVPN protocol in order to minimize handover latency, enhance the security in key exchange, and to reduce data losses cause by handover. Through a course of simulation, the performance of proposed protocol is compared with the existing mechanism.

  • Thia paper suggests a milti user-authentication system comprises that DNA biometric informatiom, owner's RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) smartcard of hardware token, and PKI digital signqture of software. This system improved items proposed in [1] as follows : this mechanism provides one RFID smartcard instead of two user-authentication smartcard(the biometric registered seal card and the DNA personal ID card), and solbers user information exposure as RFID of low proce when the card is lost. In addition, this can be perfect multi user-autentication system to enable identification even in cases such as identical twins, the DNA collected from the blood of patient who has undergone a medical procedure involving blood replacement and the DNA of the blood donor, mutation in the DNA base of cancer cells and other cells. Therefore, the proposed system is applied to terminal log-on with RFID smart card that stores accurate digital DNA biometric information instead of present biometric user-authentication system with the card is lost, which doesn't expose any personal DNA information. The security of PKI digital signature private key can be improved because secure pseudo random number generator can generate infinite one-time pseudo randon number corresponding to a user ID to keep private key of PKI digital signature securely whenever authenticated users access a system. Un addition, this user-authentication system can be used in credit card, resident card, passport, etc. acceletating the use of biometric RFID smart' card. The security of proposed system is shown by statistical anaysis.

  • Objective: Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is a cultivated shrub grown widely in the sub-tropical and tropical areas. It has been shown that mulberry leaf contains high levels of protein while having polyphenols as phytonutrients. Therefore, it is important to conduct an experiment to assess potential toxic level from mulberry on behavior, blood hematological and coagulation parameter using Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Methods: Both male and female SD rats were given an intragastric administration of respective treatments of mulberry leaf intakes (control, low and high levels). Parameters of feed intake, hematological and coagulation of blood parameters, as well as liveweight changes were taken during the 7 d of adaptation, 28 d of treatment exposure, and 14 d of recovery periods, respectively. All treatment data were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance of SPSS17.0 for Windows Statistical Software following the Randomized complete block design with sex as a block. Results: Most of the parameters of the physical symptoms of the SD rats, were not significantly different (p>0.05) when compared with that of the control group. Those which remain unchanged in each dose group were, body weight (BW) gain, feed intake, the hematology and coagulation indexes. Although, there were a few individual indicators that were abnormal, but the overall physiological appearance of the rats were normal. Conclusion: Results under this experiment revealed that most hematological and coagulation parameters of the SD rats in both male and female were normal, although the weight gain of female rats in high-dose group was significantly reduced than those of the male rats. Under this study, the use of mulberry leaf up to 2 g/kg BW did not result in abnormal phenomenon in the SD rats. These findings would offer useful information for further in vivo feeding trials in animals to extensively use of mulberry leaf to improve animal production, particularly in P.R. China.

  • Background: Cigarette smoking is an important risk factor for chronic bronchitis and COPD. Airway epithelial cells exposed to cigarette smoke components such as nicotine, cotinine and benzopyrene can generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and be subject to oxidative stress. This oxidative stress can induce the inflammatory response in the lung by the oxidant itself or by the release of proinflammatory cytokines. It has been reported that nicotine stimulates ROS, which are associated with NF-${\kappa}B$. Methods: Beas2B cells were treated with nicotine, cotinine and benzopyrene. RT PCR was used to measure the expression of several antioxidant factors using the total RNA from the Beas2B cells. The level of superoxide dismutase(CuZnSOD), thioredoxin, glutathione reductase expression was examined. Results: 0.5 to 4 hours after the benzopyrene, nicotine and cotinine theatments, the level of thioredoxin and glutathione reductase expression decreased. Longer exposure to these compounds for 24 to 72 hours inhibited the expression of most of these antioxidant factors. Conclusion: During exposure to smoke compounds, thioredoxin and glutathione reductase are the key antioxidant factors induced sensitively between 0.5 and 4 hours but the levels these antioxidants decrease between 24 hour and 72hours.

  • Despite the improvement in accuracy of heavy rain forecasting, socioeconomic costs due to heavy rain hazards continue to increase. This is due to a lack of understanding of the effects of weather. In this study, the risk of heavy rain hazard was analyzed using the concepts of hazard, vulnerability, and exposure, which are key concepts of impact forecast presented by WMO. The potential impacts were constructed by the exposure and vulnerability variables, and the hazard index was calculated by selecting three variables according to the criteria of heavy rain warning. Weights of the potential impact index were calculated by using PCA and hazard index was calculated by applying the same weight. Correlation analysis between the potential impact index and damages showed a high correlation and it was confirmed that the potential impact index appropriately reflects the actual damage pattern. The heavy rain hazard risk was estimated by using the risk matrix consisting of the heavy rain potential impact index and the hazard index. This study provides a basis for the impacts analysis study for weather warning with spatial/temporal variation and it can be used as a useful data to establish the local heavy rain hazard prevention measures.

  • Objectives: We aimed to develop a measurement method of five metabolites of trichloroethylene (TCE) in a concurrent biological sample, e.g., trichloroacetic acid (TCA), dichloroacetic acid (DCA), S-(1,2-dichlorovinyl) glutathione (DCVG), S-(1,2-dichlorovinyl)-L-cysteine (DCVC), and N-Acetyl-S-(1,2-dichlorovinyl)-L-cysteine (NAcDCVC) and to validate the method before application to pharmacokinetic study. Methods: TCE metabolites were simultaneously analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-MS/MS) with as little as 50 ${\mu}L$ of serum and urine. DCA, TCA and NAcDCVC were extracted with diethyl ether, while DCVC and DCVG were extracted by solid phase extraction. This method was validated according to the guidelines for bioanalytical method validation of the Korean National Institute of Toxicological Research. Then, we determined the five metabolites in five strains of mice at 24 hr after exposure to 1 g TCE /kg body weight. Results: The limits of detection for the five metabolites in biological samples ranged from 0.001 to 0.076 nmol/mL, which is comparable to or better than those previously reported. Most calibration curves showed good linearity ($R^2=0.99$), and between-batch variation was less than 20% expressing acceptable robustness and reproducibility. Using this method, we found TCA and DCA were detected in all test mice at 24 hr after the oral administration while NAcDCVC and DCVC were detected in some strains, which showed strain-dependent metabolism of TCE. Conclusions: The present method could provide robust and accurate measurements of major key metabolites of TCE in biological media, which allowed concurrent analysis of TCE metabolism for limited amounts of biospecimens.

  • Background : Bacterial infections in diabetic patients are an important cause of increased morbidity and mortality. It has been reported that bacterial infections in diabetics showed more impaired PMN functions such as reduced PMN respiratory burst and decreased microbicidal activity in inflammed tissues. Also, apoptosis(programmed cell death) is postulated to be a key mechanism for neutrophil elimination. It is very important that PMN apoptosis keeps the balance from an area of inflammation. Actuallly, as little was known about PMN apoptosis and respiratory burst in diabetes, we investigated PMN apoptosis and hydrogen peroxide production after endotoxin exposure. Methods : Peripheral venous blood samples were collected by routine venipuncture from healthy volunteers and diabetics to harvest neutrophils. We respectively measured the PMN apoptosis, the production of hydrogen peroxide, and the cell viability. Results : Normal neutrophils showed a tendency to decreased apoptosis after endotoxin treatment. In patients with diabetes, PMN apoptosis was significantly decreased compared with healthy controls. In addition, the LPS-induced neutrophils in diabetics demonstrated more decreased apoptosis. However, the production of hydrogen peroxide was not different between groups. Conclusion : These observations suggest that the decreased PMN apoptosis in diabetics with endotoxin exposure may also affect the increased susceptibility and severity of infections.
