An Implementation on the High Speed Blowfish

  • Blowfish is a symmetric block cipher that can be used as a drop-in replacement fur DES or IDEA. It takes a variable-length key, from 32bit to 448bit, making it ideal for both domestic and exportable use. This paper is somewhere middle-of-the-line, where this paper made significant tradeoffs between speed, size and ease of implementation. The main focus was to make an implementation that was usable, moderately compact, and would still run at an acceptable clock speed. For the real time process of blowfish, it is required that high-speed operation and small size hardware. So, A structure of new adders constructed in this study has all advantages abstracted from other adders. As for this new adder, area cost increases by 1.06 times and operation speed increases by 1.42 times.

  • In this paper, we will present the design and implementation of the KASUMI crypto algorithm and confidentiality algorithm (f8) to an hardware chip for 3GPP system. The f8 algorithm is based on the KASUMI which is a block cipher that produces a 64-bit output from a 64-bit input under the control of a 128-bit key. Various architectures (low hardware complexity version and high performance version) of the KASUMI are made with a Xilinx FPGA and the characteristics such as hardware complexity and thor performance are analyzed.

Effect of confinement on flexural ductility design of concrete beams

  • Seismic design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures requires a certain minimum level of flexural ductility. For example, Eurocode EN1998-1 directly specifies a minimum flexural ductility for RC beams, while Chinese code GB50011 limits the equivalent rectangular stress block depth ratio at peak resisting moment to achieve a certain nominal minimum flexural ductility indirectly. Although confinement is effective in improving the ductility of RC beams, most design codes do not provide any guidelines due to the lack of a suitable theory. In this study, the confinement for desirable flexural ductility performance of both normal- and high-strength concrete beams is evaluated based on a rigorous full-range moment-curvature analysis. An effective strategy is proposed for flexural ductility design of RC beams taking into account confinement. The key parameters considered include the maximum difference of tension and compression reinforcement ratios, and maximum neutral axis depth ratio at peak resisting moment. Empirical formulae and tables are then developed to provide guidelines accordingly.

  • HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) is a recently proposed video compression standard that has a two times greater coding efficiency than previous video compression standards. The key factors of high compression performance and increasement of computational complexity are the various types of block partitions and modes of intra prediction in HEVC. This paper presents an intra prediction hardware architecture for HEVC utilizing pipelining and interleaving techniques to increase the efficiency and performance while reducing the requirement for hardware resources.

  • The probabilistic generation simulation plays a key role in power system expansion and operational planning especially for the calculation of expected energy, loss of load probaility and unserved energy expected. However, it is crucial to develop a probabilistic generation simulation algorithm which gives sufficiently precise results within a reasonable computation time. In a previous paper, we have proposed an efficent method using Fast Hartley Transform in convolution process for considering the thermal and nuclear units. In this paper, a method considering the scheduling of pumped-storage plants and hydro plants with energy constraint is proposed. The method also adopts FHT techniques. We improve the model to include multi-state and multi-block generation. The method has been applied for a real size model system.

Differential Side Channel Analysis Attacks on FPGA Implementations of ARIA

  • In this paper, we first investigate the side channel analysis attack resistance of various FPGA hardware implementations of the ARIA block cipher. The analysis is performed on an FPGA test board dedicated to side channel attacks. Our results show that an unprotected implementation of ARIA allows one to recover the secret key with a low number of power or electromagnetic measurements. We also present a masking countermeasure and analyze its second-order side channel resistance by using various suitable preprocessing functions. Our experimental results clearly confirm that second-order differential side channel analysis attacks also remain a practical threat for masked hardware implementations of ARIA.

Effect of Sodium Hydroxide Treatment on Nutritive Value of Pelleted Rye Hay (호밀건초 Pellet 조제시 NaOH 처리가 사료가치에 미치는 효과)

  • This syudy was conducted to increase the utility of forage rye which are suitable to be cultivated at high altitude Taekwllyong area. For that purpose two cultivars of rye (winter-more, kool-glazer) were cultivated for 3years using a randomized block design with 3 replications. The dry matter digestibility (DMD) was evaluated with the pelleted rye hay produced by adding sodium hydroxide and then the TDN value was calculated by the DMD. By adding NaOH, DMD and TDN value of rye pellets (Y=46.92+ 1.8X, ~ 0 . 9 7 )w ere increased significantly (p<0.05) and NDF (neutral detergent fiber) decrease significantly. However, ADF (acid detergent fiber) and lignin did not significantly decrease (p<0.05). Rye could be cultivated as a second crop after com at high altitude area in the same year and pelleted with NaOH in order to increase the nutritive values (p< 0.05).   • Automatic generation control (AGC) is an important function for load frequency control, which is being implemented in Energy Management System (EMS). A key feature of AGC is to back up governors to enhance the performance of frequency control. The governor regulates system frequency in several to ten seconds, while the droop control concept results in steady-state control error. AGC is a supplementary tool for compensation of the steady-state error caused by the droop setting of the governors. As the AGC target is delivered to each generator as an open loop control target, the generator output is not guaranteed to follow the AGC target. In this paper, we introduce generating unit controller (GUC) control block, which has the purpose of enabling the generator output to track the AGC target while maintaining the governor performance. We also address the tuning methods of GUC for better performance of AGC in the Korea Energy Management System (K-EMS).

  • On a global level, the energy problem is a very important policy topic, particularly at a time when the nation relies on imports for more than 95% of its energy demand. The starting point of an energy policy should be in line with the international community's concern and cooperation regarding climate warming, and the logic of the new policy on renewable energy expansion in Korea, the pre-developed energy sector, and policy of deserting coal all support this aspect. In particular, to accommodate the rapid urbanization of mankind, the key words of the 4th Industrial Revolution are linking energy to IoT, artificial intelligence, block chain, cloud, and big data.

  • The thermal protection techniques for ramjet combustor are key technology, which block the heat from hot combustion gas, and maintain the structure temperature safely. Film cooling method is one of them. This research proposes the optimal thermal design method through performing the study of thermal protection design for ramjet combustor.
