  • This paper proposes a new framework for control system design, called the data-based control approach or data space approach, in which the input and output data of a dynamical system is directly and solely used to analyze or design a control system without the employment of any mathematical models like transfer functions, state space equations, and kernel representations. Since, in this approach, most of the analysis and design processes are carried out in the domain of the data space, we introduce some notions of geometrical objects, e.g., the openloop and closed-loop data spaces, which serve as the system representations in the data space. In addition, we establish a relationship between the open-loop and closed-loop data spaces that the closed-loop data space is contained in the open-loop data space as one of its subspaces. By using this relationship, we can derive the data-based stabilization condition for a linear time-invariant discrete-time system, which leads to a linear matrix inequality with a rank constraint.

  • This article deals with one-dimension backward heat conduction problem (BHCP). A new approach based on least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) is proposed for obtaining their approximate solutions. The approximate solution is presented in closed form by means of LS-SVM, whose parameters are adjusted to minimize an appropriate error function. The approximate solution consists of two parts. The first part is a known function that satisfies initial and boundary conditions. The other is a product of two terms. One term is known function which has zero boundary and initial conditions, another term is unknown which is related to kernel functions. This method has been successfully tested on practical examples and has yielded higher accuracy and stable solutions.

  • Due to the data processing development by the computer, the early warning system recently has made a remarkable evolution in its functions and performance as a component of the communication and control system which is also supported by the computer communication and intelligence system. In this paper it is presented that a integrated data processing system is designed to integrate the information sent from the various radar systems which constitute an early warning system. The suggested system model of this paper is devided into two types of structures, the centralized model and the distributed model, according to the data processing algorithm. We apply the queueing theory to analyse the performance of the designed models and the OPNET system kernel to make the analysing program with C language. From the analysis of the queueing components by applying the analysis programs to the designed systems, we got the tendancies and characteristics of both models, that is, a fast data processing performance of the distributed model and a stable data processing capability of the centralized model.

  • This paper describes the development of a web-based interference verification system in the mold design process. Although several commercial CAD systems furnish interference verification functions, those systems are very expensive and inadequate to perform collaborative works over the Internet. In this paper, an efficient and precision hybrid interference verification algorithm for the web-based interference verification system over the distributed environment has been studied. The proposed system uses lightweight CAD files produced from the optimally transformed CAD data through ACIS kernel and InterOp. Collaborators related to the development of a new product are able to verify the interference verification over the Internet without commercial CAD systems. The system reduces production cost, errors and lead-time to the market. Validity of the developed system is confirmed through case studies.

  • This paper surveys recent remarkable progress in the study of potential theory for symmetric stable processes. It also contains new results on the two-sided estimates for Green functions Poisson kernels and Martin kernels of discontinuous symmetric $alpha$ -stable process in bounded $C^{1,1}$ open sets. The new results give ex-plicit information on how the comparing constants depend on pa-rametrer $alpha$ and consequently recover the green function and Poisson kernel estimates for Brownian motion by passing $alpha{\uparrow}2$. In addition to these new estimates this paper surveys recent progress in the study of notions of harmonicity integral representation of harmonic func-tions boundary harnack inequality conditional gauge and intrinsic ultracontractivity for symmetric stable processes. • Brain computer interfaces (BCI) usually have focused on classifying the explicitly-expressed intentions of humans. In contrast, implicit intentions should be considered to develop more intelligent systems. However, classifying implicit intention is more difficult than explicit intentions, and the difficulty severely increases for subject independent classification. In this paper, we address the subject independent classification of implicit intention based on electroencephalography (EEG) signals. Among many machine learning models, we use the support vector machine (SVM) with radial basis kernel functions to classify the EEG signals. The Fisher scores are evaluated after extracting the gamma, beta, alpha and theta band powers of the EEG signals from thirty electrodes. Since a more discriminant feature has a larger Fisher score value, the band powers of the EEG signals are presented to SVM based on the Fisher score. By training the SVM with 1-out of-9 validation, the best classification accuracy is approximately 65% with gamma and theta components.

  • In this paper we propose a variance function estimation method for replicated data based on averages of squared residuals obtained from estimated mean function by the least squares support vector machine. Newton-Raphson method is used to obtain associated parameter vector for the variance function estimation. Furthermore, the cross validation functions are introduced to select the hyper-parameters which affect the performance of the proposed estimation method. Experimental results are then presented which illustrate the performance of the proposed procedure.

  • This paper describes on the interworking services. interworking issues and the design concepts in the Interworking System (IWS) between Pubilc Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Packet Switched Data Network (PSDN), which has been developed at the Electronics and Tedecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). As a gateway between PSTN and PSDN, IWS provides the interconnection between PSTN and PSDN. In addition to the provision of basic interconnection services (i.e. dial-in/dial-out services), IWS provides the Maintenance and Administration (M&A) services for system itself and the supplementary services such as the call barring, direct call and closed user group. The architecture of IWS is based on the multiprocessor system with single system bus. And a multiprocessor real time kernel is used to support the inter-board communication as well as the inter-process commmunications. Especially, the operation and maintenance functions of IWS are treated in detail.

  • A state space differential reproducing kernel (DRK) method is developed for the three-dimensional (3D) analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) axisymmetric circular plates with simply-supported and clamped edges. The strong formulation of this 3D elasticity axisymmetric problem is derived on the basis of the Reissner mixed variational theorem (RMVT), which consists of the Euler-Lagrange equations of this problem and its associated boundary conditions. The primary field variables are naturally independent of the circumferential coordinate, then interpolated in the radial coordinate using the early proposed DRK interpolation functions, and finally the state space equations of this problem are obtained, which represent a system of ordinary differential equations in the thickness coordinate. The state space DRK solutions can then be obtained by means of the transfer matrix method. The accuracy and convergence of this method are examined by comparing their solutions with the accurate ones available in the literature.

  • In this study, the two-dimensional generalized finite integral transform(FIT) approach was extended for new accurate thermal buckling analysis of fully clamped orthotropic thin plates. Clamped-clamped beam functions, which can automatically satisfy boundary conditions of the plate and orthogonality as an integral kernel to construct generalized integral transform pairs, are adopted. Through performing the transformation, the governing thermal buckling equation can be directly changed into solving linear algebraic equations, which reduces the complexity of the encountered mathematical problems and provides a more efficient solution. The obtained analytical thermal buckling solutions, including critical temperatures and mode shapes, match well with the finite element method (FEM) results, which verifies the precision and validity of the employed approach.
