The movie, X-men, develops the narrative with metamorphosis as the main motif making visual effects of characters and background. The objective of this study is to suggest that the metamorphosis motif can be materialized based on the virtuality of "pataphysics" as one of the genre characteristics of superhero movies and the newly materialized virtuality can be aesthetic characteristics of metamorphosis motif movies. With the virtuality that has its own characteristics with metaphorical symbols such as satire on an absurd society out of existing traditions, pataphysics started in mid-twentieth century and has had an impact on art movements of dadaism, surrealism, pop art, and postmodernism. Analyzing the characteristics of pataphysics which were shown in these artworks, we applied it to metamorphosis scenes of the movie. As a result, we found out that it visualized the shape and aspect of inner and outer strength of a superhero with aesthetic characteristics of metamorphosis scenes and it realized the presence, hybridity, and ex-formal properties of pataphysics consisting of overlapped virtual and physical reality, with technical virtuality.

The aim of this study to examine the Hip-Hop style, one of the fashion trends of the new generation in the 1990s and to come up with a design with a Hip-Hop image. As the Counterculture, Black Renaissance, Pop Star Syndrome, the importance of Hip-Hop fashion in mass culture was recognized and given a firm place as one of the major cultural trends of the 1990s. Hip-Hop fashion has a history: it originated from the Caribbean style in the 1940s and was transformed into Rude Boys style in the 1960s, Two-tone style and Rastafarians style in the 1970s. Finally it was succeeded by B-boys and Flygirls style. Hip-Hop style combines characteristics of all three styles mixed in one, which are as follows. First, Neo-Hip-Hop Fashion, Second, Hip-Hop Reggae Fashion and Third, Graffiti Fashion. Based on these three Hip-Hop images of the 19905, an attempt will be made to produce a Design Planning with a predicted 1998 fashion trend. This research provides order sheets on ready-made clothes designed for new generation in their late 10s and early 20s. Design Concept, Image Map, Fabric, color direction will be offered on the basis of an image map drawn in line with the three design concepts incorporating three sub themes of Liveliness, Modern Ethnic, and Dynamic Future. Three designs will be designed based on the following fashion themes$\ddot{o}$ Generation 'Y', Black Guys and Street Boys.

As a sport with artistic characteristics, figure skating draws upon important elements such as costumes, music, melody interpretation, and choreography. The combination of figure skating music and costume is an important influence on scoring, moreover, it forms some images and characteristics of the athlete. The purpose of this study is to consider and analyze the correlation between figure skating music and costumes. The study mostly focuses on the main international competitions from 2008 to 2010, such as the Winter World Figure Skating Championships, Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and gala shows of a single female and male and female pairs, ice dances of the medalists. The concepts and characteristics of figure skating music were examined collected the literature quotes internet sites, photos and video, clips through the homepage and internet sites. Focusing on the medalists of the main international competitions from 2008 to 2010, following the analysis results of figure skating by genre of music, the differences among classical music, pop music, movie music, musical music, folk music have been classified, and according to the features of music genres, the differences of items, colors, details and accessories of clothing were brought out. Depending on the features of music genres, figure skating costumes have been changed of items, colors, materials, details and accessories. Thus, the close correlation between the story of figure skating music and atmosphere has been analyzed. This study contributes to improve the completion of programs which is completed through the development of figure skating costumes design that is regarded specially for the artistic value.

The historian called Peter Burger divided it into historical avant-garde before and after the first World War (Dadaism, Futurist, Geometric Abstract, etc.) and Neo- avant-garde during the period of forming social foundation that would be ready to accept new forms of art in the USA, the center of capitalism, after the 2nd World War such as pop art and conceptual art including the then emerging avant-garde minimal art. Meanwhile, he interpreted that Neo- avant-garde succeeded the spirit of historical avant-garde. For modem furniture, the avant-garde terminologies are discussed from the aspect of epistemology or symbolism. On the other hand, they would be exclusively used for advertising slogans, however, it is considered as difficult due to vague terms or their characteristics. This study relates the points of historians such as Peter Burger for theoretical proposal and Richard Kostelanetz's point for formal issues, and contracts and arranges the avant-garde terminologies and its characteristics to the meaning of "getting out of the present decadent trend - aiming for future", "transcending the present aesthetic custom - renovation" and "violating the rules already established in the process of entering new areas - freshness of unfairness". The study was meaningful in providing fundamental clues based on the historical discussion and artists for Neo- avant-garde in the 1960s, that is, the mainstream of design at the end of the 20th century in the period when an avant-garde oriented alternative in the 21st century design has been sincerely required overflowed with the fin de siecle phenomenon.

One of the most difficult technical aspects of music is vocals (the voice). Unlike ordinary musical instruments, it is difficult to apply common values because the tone (that is, the color) varies greatly depending on the singer, and therefore, it is necessary to properly mix in various effects. Therefore, this study is intended to suggest concepts, the current state, and effective usage of reverberation (or reverb), which is the most typical of vocal effects, using wave renaissance reverb, which is one of the effects that are the most commonly used by students. The most important part of the mixing process in popular music is how to enhance the voice. Since the spatial impression of sound makes music more beautiful, the role of reverb as a vocal effect is absolute. Computer technology has made it easier to create music, but it has produced a side effect in which individual technique falls short, such as using predetermined presets only. Studies on the use of reverb by musicians through more detailed efforts are expected to contribute to creating good music.

This paper examines the comprehensive problems concerning education and policy in applied music through the foundation of academy. Today, we can receive information that developing popular music of actual domain is arrived at considerable level. However, a theoretical base remains lacking and this continues to impede development. I separated the education to branch and researched intensively because the problems of these are very serious and important matter. I proceeded research by mean of primary improvement that classified into two ways. First is education. I reviewed problems in various subjects, including curriculum, textbook, teacher certification examination and the lack of research and books available. Second is policies. I mainly considered the NCS which is a recent debated topic. Finally, we suggest the establishment of a research institute as a solution for these subjects. In this paper, we propose solutions such as the establishment, purpose, as well as the necessities and roles of academy. In conclusion, we propose suggestions for addressing problems associated with current policies and ways of developing popular music.

Music with the development of the media since the 20th century marks a change into an era where the live performance and music of the masses, which were hard to imagine in previous times, are shared. Based on this cultural trend, teenage music, which has been completely alienated from existing culture, is in line with the birth of Rock 'n' Roll, an event that has entered the mainstream, and the emergence of the guitar, especially the solid body electric guitar. The Fender Stratocaster, which is referred to as the epitome of this electric guitar, has joined the history of popular music for rock 'n' roll. To this day, the immense influence, which still encompasses many followers and generations, has served as a bridge that continues to be reproduced, even in the historical trend of popular music and the status of electric guitars. In addition, even in the rapid development of popular music and media, we will always be able to give true meaning and value to the vitality with the times. This paper examines the features and marks of these Fender Stratocasters.

This study was conducted to establish a nce insect pest control system, ~ es.ys tematic application of insecticides using carbohran and buproiezin, in Korea. The effects oi various dates of application and rates of buprofezin (25% WP) after carbofuran (3G) soil incorpombon in late May on the pop~~lation densities of the brown planthoppa (BPH) immigrating in July were investigated Appropriate application tune of buprofezin for the BPH that had evaded insecticidal effect of 5011 incorporated carbofuran was late July-early August. Application rate of buprofezln at 7.0g a.i/lOa was enough to suppress the BPH density. Buprofezin treatment after carbofumn soil incorporation could also suppress the whlte backed planthopper population but did not affect the densities oi the paddy rice spiders. Considering the charactenstics of occurring patterns of the nce insect pests in Korea. buprofezin treatment m late July or early August after carbofuran soil incorporation in late May can be a useful application system of ir~sectic~deins controlling early season Insect pests and migmtoly planthoppers on rice.

The purpose of this study is to delve into the identity of the swag style which has diversified into various forms by exploring the phenomenon, formative characteristics and the internal values of the swag style in modern fashioin. This study discusses the concept and the socio-cultural meanings of swag from the perspective of Jean Baudrillard's hyper-reality, and a form of existence. The classifies the swag fashion styles into parody, hip hop and collage-type mix-and-match. Expressive characteristics of the swag look in modern fashion are as follows. First, the swag look utilizes the parody technique. In the mid-2000s, the look parodied brand logos as a form of self-mocking and active self-derision toward cheap imitations. Second, the swag look borrows from the expressive factors of the hip-hop style. Born as a sub-culture based on music, hip-hop has become a way of life, as its nature became multi-cultural and trans-cultural while its fashion style gained popularity globally after the 1980s. Third, the swag look barrows from the pop-type collage form as it mixes-and-matches costume items based on the expressive characteristics of hip hop, and this can be seen through items being used in new, non-formative and free styles. Comic aesthetics is revealed in parodied expression, hip-hop factors and collage-style mix-and-match. Swag as a hyper-reality manifests itself in various natures: humorous nature, negative nature and deconstructive nature through reflection and re-enactment of reality, transmutation and distortion of reality, and absence of reality respectively. However, it does not have a binding nature, which is the norm for subcultures. This characteristic, in combination with it having internal lightness, strong meaning of communication, and a sharing of self-contentment, distinguishes itself from the general meanings of existing parody fashion, hip-hop fashion and collage fashion.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most frequently occurring brain cancer. Although the existence of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in GBM has been established, there is little evidence to explain the link between CSCs and chemoresistance. In this study, we investigated that only a few cells of A172 and established GBM2 survived after 1,3-bis(2chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea (BiCNU) exposures and these sur-vived cells resist the subsequent BiCNU treatment. In addition, these BiCNU-resistant small pop-ulations derived from GBM cells increased the phosphorylations of Erk and Akt and highly expressed CD133 stem cell surface marker. Furthermore, we observed that the BiCNU-resistant cancer cells de-rived from GBM have grown tumors when transplanted into severe combined immuno-deficient (SCID) mouse brain. These results demonstrate that BiCNU-resistant subpopulation cells derived from GBM have cancer stem-like cell properties. Therefore, it may provide provide further evidence that CSCs in GBM have chemotherapeutic drug resistance.
