Robust Watermarking toward Compression Attack in Color Image (압축공격에 강인한 칼라영상의 워터마킹)

  • In this paper. digital watermarking algorithm based on human visual system and transform domain is presented. Firstly, original image is separated into RGB thannels, watermark is embedded into the coefficients of DCT so as to consider a contrast sensitivity and texture degrees. In preprocessing, DCT domain based transform is involved and binary image of visually recognizable patterns is utilized as a watermark. Consequently, experimental results showed that proposed algorithm is robust and imperceptibility such destruction attack as JPEG compression.

  • In JPEG2000, the Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF) 9/7-tap wavelet filter adopted in lossy compression is implemented by the lifting scheme or by the convolution scheme while the LeGall 5/3-tap wavelet filter adopted in lossless compression is implemented just by the lifting scheme. However, these filters are not optimal in terms of Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) values, and irrational coefficients of wavelet filters are complicated. In this paper, we proposed a method to optimize image quality based on wavelet filter design and on wavelet decomposition. First, we propose a design of wavelet filters by selecting the most appropriate rational coefficients of wavelet filters. These filters are shown to have better performance than previous wavelet ones. Then, we choose the most appropriate wavelet decomposition to get the optimal PSNR values of images.

  • 240 Hz 이상의 높은 프레임율을 가지는 LCD 기반 평판 FHD급 디스플레이 시스템은 높은 프레임율로 인하여 디스플레이 패널로 전송해야하는 유효한 데이터율이 1.9GB/s까지 이르게 되며, 수평/수직 동기를 감안하면 2GB/s 이상의 데이터 전송 대역이 필요하다. DRAM을 이용하여 이런 데이터 대역폭을 제공하려면 다수의 메모리 장치를 사용해야하기 때문에, 비용 상승, 전력소모량 증가 등의 문제를 야기한다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 JPEG 기반의 정지 영상 압축 시스템을 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 8개의 디코더가 동시에 동작하는 구조를 가지고 있으며, 단일 데이터 열로부터 8개의 데이터 열을 용이하게 구분할 수 있도록 128-bit 데이터에 정렬된 64-bit 마커를 사용한다. 제안한 64-bit 마커는 마커 에뮬레이션을 야기하지 않도록 설계되었기 때문에, 인코더와 디코더의 구현 복잡도를 낮출 수 있고 단일 데이터열을 8개의 데이터열로 분리하는 작업을 매우 용이하게 한다.

A Study on the Still Image Compression using the Low Pass Filter (로우 패스 필터를 이용한 정지 영상 압축에 관한 연구)

  • The demand for handling images in digital form has increased dramatically in recent years. Digital image compression is required to store and transmit mass information in different from general information. JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group) committee founded by CCITT and ISO is define the still-image standard compression/restoration algorithm. JPEG is proposed the standard of grayscale and color still-image compression/restoration. In the image quality, JPEG is applicable to the various applications in which compression is able to from 1/10 to 1/50 without the visible obstacle. In this paper, we proposed that the proposed method enhance the compression ratio which is reducing the higher frequency in order to increasing the spatial redundancy in the image. The proposed method is using the low pass filter in order to reducing the higher frequency. The low-pass filters are using the median filter and convolution filter in the spatial domain, FFT filter in the frequency domain. We acquired the additive compression ratio reducing the higher frequency using the low-pass filter.

  • JPEG2000 achieves a target bit rate by selecting the bitstream for adequate coding passes after encoding full passes in Tier-1 coder. Tier-1 encoding is complicated and time-consuming process. In this paper, we propose a new rate control technique that chooses the necessary passes without the full passes coding of Tier-1 by using previous image information for volumetric image. The simulation result shows that the proposed technique reduces encoding time of coding passes up to 81.5%.

  • JPEG은 정지 영상의 압축 표준으로 8$\times$8 블록을 기반으로 DCT 변환을 한 후 양자화 및 엔트로피 부호화 과정을 통해 압축이 이루어진다. DCT는 이미지를 공간 영역에서 주파수 영역으로 변환하는 기법으로 대체로 저주파 성분은 저주파 성분끼리, 고주파 성분은 고주파 성분끼리 모아준다. 이러한 형태는 필요 없는 성분들을 쉽게 제거할 수 있어 압축이 효율적으로 이루어지도록 한다. 블록 기반의 압축 기법을 적용할 때 흔히 나타나는 문제점은 블록 기반으로 인해 발생하는 블?킹 현상으로서 이는 양자화로 인한 정보의 손실에서 비롯되며 그 기본이 되는 8$\times$8 블록 단위로 나타난다. 본 연구세어서는 작은 블록 단위를 16$\times$16의 매크로블록으로 확대한 개념을 이용하여 매크로 블록 내의 수직 및 수평 방향으로 1:2단위로 샘플링한 4개의 8$\times$8블록 간의 블록킹 경계로 없애 주도록 하고자 한다. 또한 16$\times$16의 DCT 블록 대신 16$\times$16 블록내의 8$\times$8 블록들을 이용함으로써 표준 기법에서 이용되는 8$\times$8 단위의 양자화 테이블이나 RLE기법 등을 그대로 적용할 수 있다.

Lossless Inter-frame Video Coding using Extended JPEG2000

  • This paper describes an effective technique for lossless inter-frame video coding sequences based on a JPEG2000 CODEC. This technique has diminished the compression rate for lossless video coding. In this proposed method, firstly a predicted image for an in- put image is generated by motion estimation(ME), and then a difference image between the input image and the predicted image is calculated, and finally the difference image becomes an input image to a JPEG2000 encoder for lossless coding. Simulation results show the effectiveness of this method.

Determination of the adequate resolution and compression method in teleradiology (원격 진단 시스템에서 의료영상의 적절한 해상도 및 압축방법 결정에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to determine the adequate resolution and compression method in teleradiology. A digital imaging system using Machintosh IT ci computer, 15' Sony high resolution RGB monitor, Umax Power look flatbed scanner with transparency unit and 12 panoramic radiographs were used. The results were as follows : 1. Relative detectability at the group scanned by 30ddpi, 600dpi and 1200dpi was same as those at the real panoramic radiographs. 2. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 25% of middle quality of JPEG compression. But those were not diagnostically significant. 3. Perceivable image quality degradation was found at the 100% of low quality of JPEG compression. And 8cases among them were diagnostically significant. On the basis of the above results, it is considered that the adequate resolution in scanning radiographs for teleradiology is 300dpi and compression method is the middle quality of JPEG compression.

Improvement of Efficient Tone-Mapping Curve using Adaptive Depth Range Coefficient (적응적 깊이 영역 변수를 활용한 효율적인 톤 매핑 커브 개선)

  • The purpose of this work is to support a solution of optimizing TMO (tone mapping operator). JPEG XT Profile A and C utilize Erik Reinhard TMO that works well in most cases, however, detailed information of a scene is lost in some cases. Reinhard TMO only calculates its coefficient to have tone-mapping curve from log-average luminance, and this lead to lose details of bright and dark area of scenes in turn. Thus, this paper proposes an enhancement of the default TMO for JPEG XT Profile C to optimize tone-mapping curve. Main idea is that we divide tone mapping curve into several ranges, and set reasonable parameters for each range. By the experimental results, the proposed scheme shows and obtains better performance within a dark scene, compared to the default Reinhard TMO.

  • 현재 설러 병원에서 PACS 시스템을 도입해 유용하게 사용하고 있다. 병원 진료에서 방사선 영상 정보는 중요한 위치를 차지한다. 방사선 영상은 관전압(KVP)과 관전류(mAs)로 방사선량을 조절한 후 인체에 조사하여 얻게 되는데, KVP와 mAs, 인체의 두께에 따라 영상의 질이 변하게 된다. 이와 같이 장비에서 촬영된 영상은 판독을 거처 진료에 이용되고 일정한 시간이 지나면 압축하여 보관하게 되는데, 압축율을 높게 적용할수록 저장장치에 대한 경제적인 효과는 크다. 이에 저자는 1) CR, DR 촬영 조건별 흉부 영상을 얻어 JPEG 2000 압축방식을 적용해 촬영조건이 압축영상에 미치는 영향을 평가하였고, 2) MOS(Mean opinion score) 평가를 통해 영상판독에 영향을 주지 않는 유효 압축율을 제시하였다.
