This paper reports on the learning journeys in mathematical problem solving of 21 teachers enrolled on a Masters of Education course entitled Discrete Mathematics and Problem Solving. It draws from the reports written by these teachers on their personal journeys: the commonalities and differences among them in terms of how they look at their own problem solving experiences, what language they employ in talking about problem solving, and what impact the course has on their views about problem solving. One particular aspect of problem solving instruction, a pedagogical innovation called the Practical Worksheet, is addressed in some detail. These graduate students are full-time mathematics teachers with at least two years of classroom experience. They include primary and secondary teachers.

This study investigated the effects of thae persuader and the persuasion message in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and activate the exploration journey using bicycles, a form of green transportation, in this green society age. Furthermore, the effects that predictive variables related to the implementation of an infrastructure for bicycles have on the intentions toward an exploration journey using bicycles were examined. The questionnaire survey was administered to 257 respondents for 9 days from March 14 to March 22, 2009. Since Gyeongju has a number of cultural relics that people can look at in one day, Gyeongju is ideal for examining a variety of tourist opinions about exploring cultural relics using bicycles. In conclusion, it was found that the 'persuader' and 'persuasion message' enhanced the desire for bicycle exploration journeys from 'will use a bicycle if possible' to 'want to use a bicycle'. In accordance with two-way ANOVA results on the desire for bicycle exploration journeys by persuader and persuasion message, the persuasion approach emphasizing health effects and geared toward bicycle enthusiasts was significantly effective. Furthermore, the most effective approach was the persuasion strategy emphasizing the 'citizens' and 'health', and 'citizens' and 'eco-friendly' among the effects created by connection of persuader and persuasion message.
The purpose of this study is to reveal and compare the differences in the types and characteristics of purchase channel journeys of MZ generation consumers. In this study a survey was conducted on the purchase channel journey of 20 women in the MZ generation using the ethnographic method of in-depth interviews and observations. As a result, three purchase channel journeys were identified: mobile, multi-channel, and offline. These were variously subdivided according to the characteristics of the MZ generations. Gen Z's journey was categorized into types: fashion platform app, Youtube, multi-channel supplement, multi-channel non-planned store visit, offline loyalty store, and impulsive offline store. Gen M's journey was categorized as: an online community bond, portal site, online loyalty store, multi-channel brand involvement, multi-channel efficiency, a multi-channel conversion, offline efficiency and offline task. The difference in mobile journey between generations was found in the time and length of the purchase. Gen M recognized both online and offline search processes to be tiring, while Gen Z enjoyed the search process using the online path. In the offline journey Gen Z began with their own intention to purchase, while Gen M sometimes recognized that purchasing fashion products necessary for work was a cumbersome task.
This study examines the 1980 Census and the 1987 Travel Survey data sets, in order to identify commuting trends in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. The commuting field of Seoul includes the cities and counties contiguous to Seoul, as well as Inchon, Suwon and Ansan City and Paju County. The study finds little support for the expansion of the commuting field toward distant counties of Kyonggi Province; instead an intensification of commuting within the field is more salient. The most prominent trend, within the city limit of Seoul, is that journey-to-work toward the city center has decreased whereas peripheral journeys increased considerably. The work trips have increased most in the southwestern sector of the city; a moderate increase in the northeastern and southwestern sectors; and decreases in the center and the northwestern sector of the city. Factorial analyses of the work trip data also reveal the emergence of sub-regions of journey-to-work in the peripheries of the city. Such a spatial pattern of commuting changes resemble that of population changes, and correspond in part to the layout of the subway system.

This research is concerned with Machine-Part Group Formation(MPGF) methodology for Flexible Manufacturing Systems(FMS). The purpose of the research is to develop a new heuristic algorithm for effectively solving MPGF problem. The new algorithm is proposed and evaluated by 100 machine-part incidence matrices generated. The performance measures are (1) grouping ability of mutually exclusive block-diagonal form. (2) number of unit group and exceptional elements, and (3) grouping time. The new heuristic algorithm has the following characteristics to effectively conduct MPGF : (a) The mathematical model is presented for rapid forming the proper number of unit groups and grouping mutually exclusive block-diagonal form, (b) The simple and effective mathematical analysis method of Rank Order Clustering(ROC) algorithm is applied to minimize intra-group journeys in each group and exceptional elements in the whole group. The results are compared with those from Expert System(ES) algorithm and ROC algorithm. The results show that the new algorithm always gives the group of mutually exclusive block-diagonal form and better results(85%) than ES algorithm and ROC algorithm.
The science and technology park movement has been developing for over 60 years. The first developments simply relied on the co-location of tenant companies and the park's host to encourage technology transfer. This is in contrast with their modern counter parts which offer a range of active links between tenant companies and host organisations as well as a raft of business development services to support technology commercialisation. Many of these sites have also become important centres in regional innovation plans. In these cases they are supported by a range of local, regional and national policies that are aimed at establishing a business, technology and social environment which support innovation. The paper examines both the business development programmes developed by science and technology parks to support technology commercialisation and the macro conditions that are now being developed to support innovation.

Modem automated manufacturing processes employ automated guided vehicles(AGVs) for material handling, which serve several machining centers(MCs) in a factory. Optimal scheduling of AGVs can significantly help to increase the efficiency of the manufacturing process by minimizing the idle time of MCs waiting for the raw materials. In this paper, we will analyse the requirements for an optimal schedule and then provide a mathematical framework for an efficient schedule of material delivery by an AGV. With this model, the optimal number of MCs to be utilized will also be determined. Finally, the material delivery schedule employing multiple journeys to the MCs by the AGV will be carried out. Through rigorous analysis and simulation experiments, we shall show that such a delivery strategy will optimize the overall performance.
This article presents a brief reconstruction of the historic journey of Benedict the Pole and John of Pian de Carpine, the first known Europeans after A.D. 900 who completed a successful return journey east of Baghdad and gave surviving accounts of their travels. The article, which focuses mainly on the role of Benedict the Pole, is divided into five parts: the reasons and organization of the deputation sent to the Mongols by Pope Innocent IV from 1245-1248, the route travelled by the Papal envoys, the existing versions of the two surviving accounts of the mission, the role of Benedict the Pole as the secretary and translator to the papal legate Pian de Carpine, and the outcome of the journey as seen from the perspective of Europe-Asia contacts.
In the latter part of the $20^{th}$ century, the road in American culture has been identified with independence, mobility, and speed, but in his seminal poem, "Song of the Open Road," Walt Whitman characterized road journeys as simultaneously physical, intellectual, and spiritual, a view embraced by Vincent Van Gogh whose Terrace of a Caf? at Night illustrates in paint what Whitman said in words. Others such as Jack Kerouac in On the Road followed in Whitman's tradition, one taken up even more recently by David Lynch, whose films are best known for a condemnation of American suburban life, but whose Straight Story evokes a profound spirituality as part of the road. This essay explores spirituality in these various texts.
Over seven years, BTS have organically embedded consistent mental health messaging and modelling of various mental health modalities, representing innovation within mental health discourse, within and outside the pop and K-pop culture and fandom. Their personal and artistic journeys have resulted in songs, imagery, and relationship dynamics within the group and within and between their fans ARMY, that organically model behaviours associated with mental health therapeutic modalities and normalize the discussion of mental health and well-being. This practice is vitally important in the effort to end stigma and encourage mental health well-being and recovery. BTS's authenticity establishes empathy with their audience ARMY and increases their ability to deliver these messages effectively. This includes fostering the creation of a peer support community within the group that extends to their fanbase ARMY, and from which fan-created mental health programs have emerged. BTS's innovation will be explored by examining content creation throughout their career, illustrating their consistent and organic messaging, culminating in overt and conscious mental health content in their latest album BE, which was released three weeks after the initial paper was presented, and provides proof of concept.
