Development and Psychometric Evaluation of the Job Meaning Scale for Nutrition Teachers (영양교사 직무의미척도의 개발과 타당화 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the reliability and validity of the Job Meaning Scale for Nutrition Teachers (JMS-NT). The JMS-NT, the Nutrition Teacher Job Satisfaction Scale (NTJSS), and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) were administered to 180 nutrition teachers (female: 180, male: 0). The results showed that the JMS-NT had a three-factor structure in exploratory factor analysis. In addition, the test-retest reliability for all three factors of the JMS-NT was in the range of 0.69 to 0.85, and the internal consistency was in the range of 0.92 to 0.94, showing that they met the standards. The results of conducting Pearson correlation analyses between the JMS-NT and validity indicators such as the NTJSS and the MLQ were statistically significant, confirming the criterion validity of the scale. The above results show that the JMS-NT is a reliable and valid tool to measure the three factors of the job meaning of the nutrition teachers. Finally, the theoretical and practical significance, limitations, and future research tasks of the study were discussed.

Does College Experience Effect Job Quality Of Science And Engineering Graduates? -Focusing On Gender Gap (이공계 대학생의 대학생활 경험과 취업의 질 : 성별차이를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to examine whether a gender works to make the difference on the university experiences of natural sciences and engineering major students; and the income and quality gap between the graduates. In this study, university experiences means job market and job searching related experiences such as job fair attending, The main research questions are as follows; fist, what are the significant university experiences related job preparation and application, and is there a gender gap on those experiences? Second, how is the job market performance of the national sciences and engineering graduates for their income level and quality job, and is there a gender gap on the job market performance of the sample? Third, which variables among the university experiences for job searching and application impacts the job quality and income level of the natural sciences and engineering graduates? To find out the research results, this study conducts a panel data analysis with GOMS (Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey) throughout survey year of 2006 to 2015, towards 568,264 as weighted value number. As analysis methods, this study carries out a descriptive analysis, ANOVA, discriminant analysis, linear regression and T-test. Therefore, here are the brief outputs of the study; first, for natural sciences and engineering students, the off-campus experiences such as job fair, job recruit festival and internship programs are more favored; second, female students are more likely to attend personal and self-driven job preparation programs; third, on job market performance, the graduates' income level and company scale rate are higher in the male but job stability is higher in the female; fourth, as a result of the linear regression, gender factor decides the income level in considerable degree; additionally, gender factor shows the difference of the job satisfaction and self-effectiveness on one's job as a qualitative variables. For obtaining strictness, university program factors are controlled through model fitness process. As above, this study finds out the main factors of university life of natural sciences and engineering graduates which are related their job searching and preparation experiences and figures out stronger factors in job market; and examines the statistically significance of the gender in this casual-effect relationship between job preparation and job quality of the graduates.

A Study on Musculoskeletal Disorders of Workers in Clothing Design (의류디자인 근로자의 근골격계질환에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzed the effect of workers' socio-psychological burden factors on musculoskeletal disorders. A survey was conducted targeting office and field workers in the Seoul metropolitan area. Analysis was performed using the results of 357 surveys out of 400 surveys. The analysis results were derived as follows. First, the socio-psychological burden factor did not show statistically significant results for musculoskeletal disorders. Second, it was found that job stress factors also had a positive effect on musculoskeletal disorders. Third, social psychological burden factors were found to be more positive than office workers than field workers. Fourth, there was a statistically significant correlation between job stress and musculoskeletal disease risk scores. From the above results, job stress factors affect musculoskeletal disease risk factors (work frequency, pain level, and duration) and the increase in musculoskeletal disorders and the number of accidents.

Job Stress Level and It's Related Factors in Firefighters (소방공무원의 직무스트레스 수준과 관련 요인)

  • This study was designed to assess the factor of influence to occupational stress who work in the field of firefighters and questionnaire was uesd to analyse the stress scores and find the primary factors influence to occupational stress. The number of respondents were 408 who received the refresher training and period of investigation was august 2011 through october 2011. A structured questionnaire was employed to evaluate the participants' socio-demographics, job-related factors, health-related behaviors, occupational stress, reaction factor (fatigue, job satisfaction) and buffer factor (social support). Occupational stress and fatigue were assessed using the Korean Occupational Stress Scale-Short Form (KOSS-SF) and the Multidimensional Fatigue Scale (MFS), respectively. The analysis showed that we found a strong correlation between fatigue, job satisfaction and occupational stress. Occupational stress was associated with an increased risk of fatigue and decreased the job satisfaction. In the multiple regression analysis(stepwise), main factor that influence to occupational stress were job satisfaction, gender, age, processing number for a day, exercise. In logistic regression analyses, a higher occupational stress was associated with higher odds of fatigue(High) and the odds was down by 15.0% after adjustment for job satisfaction, gender, age, processing number for a day, exercise. Thus, a job satisfaction promote program for the reduction of occupational stress and the promotion of firefighters's health is strongly recommended.

Characteristics and factors affecting the job satisfaction of community health survey interviewers (지역사회건강조사원들의 직무 만족도 관련 요인 및 특성)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to suggest factors related with the job satisfaction of interviewers who participated in Community Health Survey (CHS) in Jeonbuk province. Methods: An interview survey was carried out, targeting all 70 interviewers who were working at Jeonbuk CHS from Oct. 20 to Oct. 31. 2011. Results: As a result of carrying out a univariate analysis of job satisfaction factors by general characteristics, this study found out that interviewers at the age below 40 showed a higher emotional factor-related score than interviewers at the age over 40, and interviewers having participated a statistic survey more than 6 times showed a higher emotional factor-related score than interviewers having participated a statistic survey less than 5 times. As a result of carrying out a multiple regression analysis of factors by general characteristics, this study found out that as interviewers were older, they showed a lower emotional factor-related satisfaction score and job performance factor-related satisfaction score, and their job satisfaction score was higher when a single interviewer conducts a survey than when more than 2 interviewers conduct a survey. Conclusions: The interviewer's job satisfaction score was relatively low. This results strongly suggest that it is necessary to understand their job performance environment and work environment most of all. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as basic data needed to increase the job satisfaction of interviewers from CHS and improve the quality of survey data.

A Study on the Relationship between Y Generational Characteristics and Customer Orientation - Including Testing Mediating Role of Job Satisfaction - (Y세대의 특성과 고객지향성의 관계 연구 - 직무만족의 매개효과 검증을 포함함 -)

  • The current study aims to demonstrate the causal relationships of supervisory support, workplace fun, job satisfaction and customer orientation of Y Generational service provider in the Korean hotel industry. In order to achieve the study purpose, the data were collected from 284 hotel employees who were born from 1981 to 2000, which is considered as Generation Y. To analyze the data, frequency, correlation, regression, PROCESS Macro and confirmatory factor analysis were undertaken using SPSS and AMOS version 18.0. The results show as follows: First, factor of workplace fun had a positive influence on job satisfaction and customer orientation. Second, factor of supervisory support had a positive influence on job satisfaction but its effect on the customer orientation was not significant. Third, job satisfaction had a significantly positive effect on customer orientation. Lastly, job satisfaction was revealed as a significant mediator between dependent variables(supervisory support and workplace fun) and customer orientation. Eventually, this study found that the more workplace fun and job satisfaction employees have, the higher customer orientation they show. Supervisory support was revealed as an indirect factor to enhance customer orientation through job satisfaction.

The comparative study on changes in job satisfaction and turnover intention according to the convergence mediating factors and the level of emotional labor in dental hygienists (치과위생사의 감정노동수준과 매개변수 융합에 따른 직무만족 및 이직의도 변화 비교 연구)

  • Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in job satisfaction and turnover intention according to the level of Emotional labor and the mediating effect in dental hygienists. Higher levels of emotional labor resulted in lower levels of job satisfaction, as well as higher levels of turnover intention. We used the logistic regression analysis to compare change of job satisfaction, turnover intention according to the level of emotional labor. In logistic regression analyses, social support was the largest mediating factor between emotional labor and job satisfaction and the odds(Likely to with low job satisfaction) was down by 16% after adjustment for supervisor, colleague. In case of turnover intention, largest mediating factor were drinking, physical condition, supervisor, colleague and the odds(Likely to with high turnover intention) was down by 52% after adjustment for mediating factors. The results of this study were as follows. Emotional labor was negatively impact on job satisfaction and turnover intention. To increase the job satisfaction and lower the turnover intention, it is necessary to do more efforts to improve social support(supervisor and colleague) and management personal factor(drinking, physical condition) for the dental hygienists should be made to reduce such negative effects.

A Study of the Reward and the Job Satisfaction Perceived by Nurses (간호사가 지각하는 보상과 직무만족에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to examine the level of reward's importance and job satisfaction perceived by nurses, understand how nurses' demographics, reward and reward's subcategories affected their job satisfaction. Method: The data were collected at the six general hospitals in five cities, Korea from July 15th to August 26th, 2005. Two questionnaires were used. One was the important level of reward and the other was job satisfaction. The data were analyzed by SPSS/PC ver 12.0. Result: The average scores of reward and job satisfaction were $3.77({\pm}.34)$ and $2.80({\pm}.32)$ of 5.0 that was full mark. In differences of the important level of reward, marital status was the only different characteristics. In differences of job satisfaction, age, education level, working period, and position had differences significantly. Among the job satisfaction and the reward's subcategories, there was the only significant correlation between the job satisfaction and the job contentment reward. And nurses' job contentment reward and position explained 40.5% of their job satisfaction Conclusion: Nurses' job contentment reward and position should be first considered in order to improve their job satisfaction. Since nurses' job contentment reward is the most important factor to improve their job satisfaction, a special strategies that can develop their job contentment reward is needed to nursing managers.

Effects of Job Stress Factors on Psychological Job Stress and Job Satisfaction Levels of School Dietitians in the Seoul and Incheon Area (서울.인천 지역 학교 영양사의 직무 스트레스 요인이 심리적 직무 스트레스 수준과 직무 만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of job stress factors on psychological job stress and job satisfaction levels of school dietitians were evaluated. Questionnaires were distributed to 163 elementary school foodservice dietitians in the Seoul and Incheon area. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS program. The highest stress factor was the importance of the job followed by role ambiguity, autonomy and identity, communication and participation. When dealing with job stress, the subjects showed improved and positive behaviors when communicating and participating with each other. The analysis of the relationships between job stress factors and job satisfaction revealed that the importance of the job had a negative effect on jog satisfaction. while role conflict and overload, personal relationships, and experience accumulation had positive effects. Ample occupational experience and background had highly positive effects on school dietitians' job satisfaction level whereas negative results were shown concerning circulated appointments(p<0.01). Based on these results, we suggest that role conflict and overload should be reduced in order to lower job stress levels and enhance job satisfaction levels.

Categorization of Competencies and Description of Job Informations for Dietitians in Employee Foodservice by Wdorker-oriented Job Analysis Methodology (직영 및 위탁 사업체 급식소 영양사에 대한 작업자 지향적 직무분석(제 2 보) : 요인분석에 의한 직무수행 특성 영역 및 직무정보 기술)

  • The job characteristics and competencies of 285 dietitians in employee foodservices were investigated by worker-oriented job analysis methodology. The purposes of this study were to : a) determine the knowledge, abilities, skills and other characteristics(KASO) needed for dietitians in two types of employee foodservice groups(self-operated vs. contracted), b) categorize KASO items by factor analysis and c) provide job information and job descriptions for dietitians in employee foodservices. The job analysis questionnaire was consisted of questions concerning the 134 KASO items. The questionnaire was mailed to 250 dietitians who are members of The Korean Dietetic Association Practice Group in self-operated foodservices(group A) and 250 dietitians who are employed in contracted foodservice companies(group B). Completed questionnaires were received from 285 dietitians(121 in self-operated, 164 in contracted) ; with response rate of 57%. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SPSS/win and the SAS/win packages. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1) Through factor analysis, the 134 KASO items were regrouped into 6 categories :‘primary dietetic tasks concerning menu management and administrative work regarding merchants’, ‘primary dietetic tasks concerning procurement and purchasing of food and supplies and meal production and service control’, ‘primary dietetic tasks concerning facility, sanitation and safety control’, ‘secondary dietetic tasks concerning nutrition education and research’, ‘secondary dietetic tasks concerning foodservice operation management’and‘human attributes’. 2) Analysis of the total scores(average scores of degree of frequency, importance and entry requirements of KASO items within 6 categories), group A showed high priorities placed on‘human attributes’, ‘procurement and purchasing of food and supplies and meal production and service control’, ‘menu management and administrative work regarding merchants’, ‘whereas group B showed high priorities placed on’‘human attributes’, ‘foodservice operation management’.
