  • The static inverter is mainly used to provide with the electric power of various loads in the train. In the recent european projects, the specification of static inverter become harder, and many additional service function is expected. It takes long time and high cost to develope a static inverter with these high performances and additional function. But, these are became general demands for static inverter in the many projects from now on. The APSE(Auxiliary Power Supply Equipment) is a static inverter of high performance to satisfy the severe specification and various service function following these tendency for Athens project In this paper, the specification of APSE and various service functions are introduced to look about current tendencies of static inverter.

  • This paper proposed a transfer function of a frequency-controlled resonant inverter for output power control. The inverter is modeled as an equivalent circuit by using Phasor transformation. A transfer function is derived from the equivalent circuit which contains cross-coupled nonlinear parts. By simulation of the circuit, the transfer function can be approximated as a linear first-order function. The proposed transfer function is verified through comparison of experimental and simulation results.

  • The increased penetration of PV is impacting on grid operation and in particular the voltage within the local grid can be significantly influenced by the various PV systems. This paper describes domestic technical standard of Photovoltaic(PV) PCS(Power Conditioning Systems)- Characteristics of the utility interface. Especially protective function test items of 1) Output overvoltage protection test, 2) Output undervoltage protection test, 3) Frequency rise protection test, 4) Frequency fall protection test, 5) System voltage's momentary interruptions, 6) System voltage distortion capability test. Therefore in this paper protective function test item of facilities evaluation detailed standards for new renewable energy, small, medium and large photovoltaic inverter standard is studied and analyzed and finally full tested by PV inverter performance function.

  • This paper proposes buck-type charging method using motor inductance, 3-phase inverter and bi-directional converter without an additional charger in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The proposed system has advantages over the conventional system such as high charging efficiency, high power factor, and low total harmonic distortion. The validity of each methods are verified by theoretical analysis and simulation.

  • With the rapid development of clean energy, photovoltaic (PV) generation has been utilized in the harmonic compensation of power systems. This paper presents a novel multi-function PV micro-inverter with three stages (pseudo-two-stage). It can inject active power and compensate harmonic currents in the power grid at the same time. In order to keep the micro-inverter working under the maximum allowable output power, an optimized capacity limitation strategy is presented. Moreover, the harmonic compensation can be adjusted according to the customized requirements of power quality. Additionally, a phase shedding strategy in the DC/DC stage is introduced to improve the efficiency of parallel Boost converters in a wide range. Compared with existing capacity limitation methods, the proposed strategy shows better performance and energy efficiency. Simulations and experiments verify the feasibility of the micro-inverter and the effectiveness of the strategy.

  • The HVAC(Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system is only controlled by turn on/turn off operations against to AC 380V input. Therefore, the efficiency of the system is reduced and noise occurs. Also, the blower is shut down at the AC power failure. In this paper, the inverter system with UPS function for the A/C(Air Conditioning) blower is proposed. Proposed inverter system which is powered from the AC and DC voltage can control speed, operation mode, and soft-start time using CAN communication. In case of the CAN communication failure, RS-232 communication could be used to control the hardware directly by the engineer that can solve existing problems. To verify the validity of proposed inverter system, simulations and experiments are carried out.

A Novel Cost-Effective Two-Level Inverter with Combined Use of Thyristors and IGBTs

  • In this paper, a novel topology of two-level voltage-type inverter is proposed. The proposed inverter has three bridge arms while each bridge is made up of two thyristors, one IGBT and four diodes. Thyristors complete the phase positioning of the inverter, IGBT completes the modulation of different modulation modes such as SPWM, SVPWM, and SHPWM, and the diodes complete the commutation of the bridge arms. Compared to the traditional voltage-type inverter with six IGBTs, the proposed voltage-type inverter using three IGBTs can achieve the same function with highly reduced cost. The principle of the proposed two-level inverter is explained in detail. The simulation and experiment results demonstrate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed inverter-type inverter.

  • In this paper, the authors suggest a new control algorithm for a three-phase four-wire photovoltaic (PV) inverter with imbalance load compensation function using conventional proportional-integral (PI) controllers. The maximum power of PV panel is calculated by the MPPT control loop. The reference varying signals of current controllers are transformed to two different rotating frames where they become constant signals. Then simple PI controllers are applied to achieve zero steady-state error of the controllers. The proposed control algorithm are modeled and simulated with imbalance load configuration to verify its performance. The simulation results show that the maximum PV power is transferred to the grid and the imbalance power is compensated successfully by the proposed control algorithm. The inverter has a fast response (~4 cycles) during the transient period. The proposed control algorithm can be effectively utilized to the three-phase four-wire inverter with imbalance load compensation function.

  • 본 논문은 M3D(Monolithic 3-Dimension) Inverter의 소자 구조에서 메탈 게이트의 WFV(Work-function Variation)의 영향에 따른 임계전압의 변화에 대하여 조사했다. 또한 PMOS 위에 NMOS가 적층된 인버터의 전기적 상호작용에 따른 임계전압의 변화를 조사하기 위해 PMOS에 0과 1 V의 전압을 인가하여 전기적 상호작용을 조사하였다. 사용된 메탈 게이트의 평균 일함수에 대한 임계전압의 변화량은 0.1684 V로 측정되었고, 표준편차는 0.00079 V가 조사 되었다.

  • 저전류 범위에서 l2L은 연결되는 소자의 input capacitance, resistance 및 그 소자동작에 필요한 전류들에 의해 출력단의 신호가 손상을 입게 되어 logic기능이 방해를 받게 되며 그로 인한 회로의 불확실성이 증가될 수 있다. 본 논문은 이와같은 외부부하와 연결된 I2L-inverter의 기능에 관한 해석을 다루고 rise time과 fall time의 변화에 관한 simulation 및 실험을 통한 측정결과를 비교 분석하였다.
