Trust, Perceived Risk, and Trusting Behavior in Internet Banking

  • In information systems, "trust" and "risk" have been explored by a few trust-related research studies before, but as two separate issues. The way in which these studies have been designed, however, does not help clarify the relationship between trust and risk since they are studied as unconnected determinants of trusting behavior in electronic commerce. As such, this research attempts to examine and specify the relationships among the core constructs surrounding the issue of trust such as risk and trusting behavior. The context of Internet banking adoption is used to develop a conceptual model that incorporates the direct effects of trust and perceived risk on trusting behavior as well as the mediation of the relationship between trust and trusting behavior by perceived risk. The findings show that perceived risk mediates the relationship between trust and trusting behavior. Specifically, trust in the Internet as a banking medium significantly influences the adoption of Internet banking both directly and indirectly through perceived risk of Internet banking. Trust that the bank will not take advantage of consumers significantly influences the trusting behavior through perceived risk of Internet banking. This study, thus, extends research on trust in e-commerce by simultaneously examining the influence of trust and perceived risk on e-commerce adoption.

모바일뱅킹 사용의도에 신뢰가 미치는 영향 : 우리은행 인터넷뱅킹 사용자와의 비교를 중심으로 (The Impact of Trust on User Acceptance of Mobile Banking : An Empirical Study on Comparison with Internet Banking Users of Wooribank)

  • The purpose of this research is to identify the impact of trust on user acceptance of mobile banking and to identify if causalities among these factors are different between Internet and mobile banking. To test this model, this research applies the technology acceptance model(TAM) that incorporates trust. Additionally, this research use structural equation modeling to test the model and examine cross-group differences using a multi-group comparison method. The empirical results indicate that all path is significant expect the path from trust to intention to use. The results of a multi-group comparison test indicated that the path from trust to attitude, from trust to intention to use, from perceived usefulness to attitude and from perceived to intention to use are different between Internet and mobile banking.

  • 각 은행들은 인터넷 뱅킹을 통해 경쟁력 확보하기 위해 서비스 개발에 박차를 가하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 새로운 뱅킹 비즈니스 모델을 구현하고 있다. 특히 인터넷 뱅킹 경쟁력 평가는 단순히 인터넷 뱅킹 사이트의 서비스 평가와는 다르다. 국내외 인터넷 뱅킹에서 제공하는 서비스 상품들은 성공적인 합병과 다양한 온라인 접점의 구축을 통해 금융서비스를 가장 효율적으로 제공하며, 또한 은행업무뿐만 아니라 증권서비스, 보험, 소비자금융, 리스, 부동산업무 등을 원스톱으로 제공하는 등 다양한 서비스를 제공하며, 사업의 영역을 넓혀가고 있다. 그리고 대부분의 국내외 은행 및 금융기관들이 인터넷 뱅킹 서비스 개발을 통하여 경영효율성을 증대시키고 경쟁력을 제고하고자 노력하고 있다. 특히 국내외 은행들이 일대일 맞춤 서비스, 개인 재무관리 그리고 인터넷뱅킹을 이용한 아파트관리비 납부서비스 상품을 개발하여 제공하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 통합모바일서비스, 세금 전자납부 징수, 인터넷 무서류 대출 상품 서비스를 개발하여 시장에서 판매하고 있다. 따라서 현재의 고객 및 잠재고객들이 은행의 인터넷 뱅킹 서비스를 적극 이용하도록 유치함으로써 은행 및 금융기관들은 그들의 경쟁적위상을 제고시키고자 노력하고 있다.

인구통계 및 동기요인과 관련된 인터넷뱅킹 태도 (Internet Banking Attitudes in Association with Demographics and Motivations)

  • 이 논문은 인터넷뱅킹 가입자들을 대상으로 인구통계변수와 이용 동기에 따른 인터넷뱅킹 이용 태도에 대하여 탐구하였다. 인터넷 뱅킹 고객의 태도분석을 위해 설문을 통한 자료수집 후 분산분석과 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 그 결과 연령과 경험에 따라 경제적 동기에 유의한 차이를 보였다. 남성 이용자는 여성에 비해 재미와 정보수집 동기가 높았다. 사용경험이 길고 방문횟수가 높은 이용자는 인터넷 뱅킹과 은행에 대한 태도에 유의한 영향을 주었다. 태도에 영향을 미치는 모든 동기요인은 금융상품과 인터넷 뱅킹에 영향을 주고 있다. 이 연구는 인구통계변수에 따른 인터넷뱅킹 태도와 동기에 대한 특성을 제시하였으며, 이 결과는 인터넷 뱅킹 이용자를 어떻게 동기부여 할 것인가와, 자사 은행과 뱅킹 사이트에 대해 긍정적인 태도를 갖도록 할 것인가에 이용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • The main purpose of this study is to establish the empirical model of internet banking system. The results of this study shows that the statistical significant lies in confidentially and response among many factors. And additionally another result for recommendation factor by legit analysis that there is the significant result. Thus in the present period, bank company will focus to rise up the reliance of the internet banking system.

Measurement of the Internet Banking Customer Satisfaction using Structured Equation Model

  • This study has conducted to measure the internet banking customer satisfaction using structured equation model. Data was collected by e-mail system. Among survey panel who had experience of using Hanwha-Bank internet banking service, final samples were 2,848 respondents. The results showed that usage convenience and economy factor was most correlated with customer satisfaction. And we found that word-of-mouth behavior was affected customer satisfaction.

OTP를 이용한 인터넷뱅킹 시스템의 다중 채널 인증 기법 (A Multichannel Authentication Technique In The Internet Banking System Using OTP)

  • Due to the development of the Internet, Internet banking that we are liberated from time and space has evolved into banking system. So modern life became comfortable. However, Dysfunction (malicious Information leakage and hacking etc.) of the Internet development has become a serious social problem. According to this, The need for security is rapidly growing. In this paper, we proposed the Internet Banking Authentication System using a dual-channel in OTP(One Time Password) authentication. This technology is that A user transfer transaction information to Bank through one Internet channel then bank transfer transaction information to user using the registered mobile phone or smart phone. If user confirm transaction information then bank request user's OTP value. User create OTP value and transfer to bank and bank authenticate them throgth the ARS. If authentication is pass then transaction permitted. Security assessment that the proposed system, the security requirement that the confidentiality and integrity, authentication, repudiation of all of the features provide a key length is longer than the current Internet banking systems, such as using encryption, the security provided by the Financial Supervisory Service Level 1 rating can be applied to more than confirmed.

국내 인터넷 뱅킹 현황 및 서비스 평가에 관한 실증적 연구

  • The Internet banking service, through which customers process their banking-related works, was introduced in July 1997. The service has since spread quickly, and as of the end of June 2000, just one year after its introduction into Korea, its subscribers numbered 1.23 million people. This figure is ten times larger than the 120,000 subscribers recorded over the six months period up to the end of 1999. In addition, since the end of June 2000, subscriptions on average increase by more than 10,000 a day, and by the end of December 2000, it is expected to pass the 3 million mark. There has been no empirical study conducted on the invigorated Internet banking's status and its services. Therefore, this research is designed to conduct a survey on the Internet banking service status, to conduct actual transactions from the viewpoint of customers and then make a empirical evaluation of it. This will indicate directions for improvement and development of the domestic Internet banking service. We have evaluated ten areas of the Internet banking service including financial service, customers service, users'convenience, and system safety. As of the end of June 2000, 18 out of 20 commercial domestic banks are providing an Internet banking service, and we have conducted evaluations of all these banks. The evaluation is divided into ten categories with 100 points as a maximum score. These are then classified into six grades AAA, AA, A, BBB, BB and B. The outcome of this evaluation was featured in the major domestic journals, and the banks, acknowledging the value of the report, declared that they would adopt it as their criteria for evaluation.

인터넷뱅킹 채택 결정요인에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Determinants of Internet Banking Adoption)

  • 본 연구는 인터넷뱅킹 채택을 결정하는 요인들을 분석하기 위한 연구모형을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 실증분석을 함으로써, 인터넷뱅킹 사용자와 비사용자를 판별하기 위한 요인들을 체계적으로 분석하고 주요 요인을 도출하여, 인터넷뱅킹이 금융기관을 위한 전략적 경쟁도구로서 보다 빨리 확산되어 정착될 수 있도록 지원하는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 국내의 인터넷뱅킹 채택 의사결정에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 혁신, 개인, 위험, 그리고 주관적 규범의 네 가지 특성요인으로 구분하여, 인터넷 사용자들을 대상으로 실증 분석하였다. 분석 결과 적합성, 심리적 위험, 컴퓨터 경험, 주관적 규범 등이 인터넷뱅킹 사용자와 비사용자를 구별 짓는 뚜렷한 요인으로 나타났다.

Development of Security Service for Mobile Internet Banking Using Personal Digital Assistants

  • The fusion of Internet technology and applications with wireless communication provides a new business model and promises to extend the possibilities of commerce to what is popularly called mobile commerce, or m-commerce. In mobile Internet banking service through wireless local area network, security is a most important factor to consider. We describe the development of security service for mobile Internet banking on Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). Banking Server and Authentication Server were developed to simulate banking business and to support certificate management of authorized clients, respectively. To increase security, we took hybrid approach in implementation: symmetric block encryption and public-key encryption. Hash function and random number generation were exploited to generate a secret key. The data regarding banking service were encrypted with symmetric block encryption, RC4, and the random number sequence was done with public-key encryption. PDAs communicate through IEEE 802.IIb wireless LAN (Local Area Network) to access banking service. Several banking services and graphic user interfaces, which emulatedthe services of real bank, were developed to verity the working of each security service in PDA, the Banking Server, and the Authentication Server.
