  • This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of students' attitudes to internet media language and orthographic knowledge on their use of internet media language. The participants were 989 students in the 4th to 11th grades in Kyunggi-do. It was found that the participants used more internet media language in internet literacy than for general writing. Elementary students exhibited significantly less orthographic knowledge and used more internet media language to write on the internet than older students. Students' attitudes to internet media language went a long way to explaining their self-assessment on the frequency of using internet media language and their genuine use of internet media language on the internet. Their orthographic knowledge, however, was not a significant predictor for their use of internet media language.

  • YouTube is an OTT service that leads the home economy, which has emerged from the 2020 Corona Pandemic. With the growth of OTT-based individual media, creators are required to establish attractive storytelling strategies that can be preferred by viewers and elected for YouTube recommendation algorithms. In this study, we conducted a study on modeling that proposes a content storyline for creators. As the ability for Creators to create content that viewers prefer, we have presented the data literacy ability to find patterns in complex and massive data. We also studied the importance of compelling storytelling configurations that viewers prefer and can be selected for YouTube recommendation algorithms. This study is of great significance in that it deviated from the viewer-oriented recommendation system method and proposed a story suggestion model for individual creaters. As a result of incorporating this story proposal model into the production of the YouTube channel Tiger Love video, it showed a certain effectiveness. This story suggestion model is a machine learning text-based story suggestion system, excluding the application of photography or video.

  • The present research investigates the factors influencing the elderly adults' life satisfaction in the era of information and communication technology (ICT). Specifically, we examine whether the elderly individuals' digital literacy skills (i.e., ability to use PCs, ability to use mobile devices, and ability to distinguish information) and perceptions (i.e., perceived usefulness of digital technology, self-efficacy in using digital devices, and social interaction) predict their life satisfaction. To answer the research question, we performed a hierarchical multiple regression analysis using the elderly Korean adults aged 55 or older. The results indicate that (1) females (vs. males) are more satisfied with their life; (2) the higher individuals' age, education and monthly household income, the higher their life satisfaction; and (3) their perceived usefulness of digital technology, self-efficacy in using digital devices, social interaction, and ability to distinguish information are positively associated with life satisfaction. The findings provide important implications to enhance life satisfaction of the elderly adults in the ICT era.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a scale for measuring digital literacy by identifying the factors consisting of digital literacy and extracting items for each factor. Preliminary items for the Delphi study were developed through the analysis of previous literature and the deliberation of the research team. As a result of two rounds of the expert Delphi study, 65 items were selected for the main survey. The validation of the items was carried out in the process of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, reliability test, and criterion validity test using the data collected in the main survey. As a result, a 4-factor structure composed of 31 questions(factor 1: digital technology & data literacy- 9 questions, factor 2: digital content & media literacy- 8 questions, factor 3: digital communication & community literacy- 9 questions, factor 4: digital wellness literacy - 5 questions) was confirmed. Also, the goodness of fit indices of the model were found to be good and the result of reliability test revealed the scale had a very appropriate level of Cronbach's alpha(α=.956). In addition, a statistically significantly positive correlations(p<.001) were found between digital literacy and internet self-efficacy and between digital literacy and self-directed learning ability, which were predicted in the existing evidence, therefore the criterion validity of the developed scale was secured. Finally, practical and academic implications of the study are provided and future study and limitations of the study are discussed.
