  • Purpose: The article deals with the proposition that consumers' fashion consumption behavior will still follow the consumption behavior of fast fashion, despite recognizing the importance of slow fashion. Research design, data and methodology: The research model to verify this proposition is topic modelling with big data including unstructured textual data. we combined 5,506 news articles posted on Naver news search platform during the 2003-2019 period about fast fashion and slow fashion, high-frequency words have been derived, and topics have been found using LDA model. Based on these, we examined consumers' perception and consumption behavior on slow fashion through the analysis of Topic Network. Results: (1) Looking at the status of annual article collection, consumers' interest in slow fashion mainly began in 2005 and showed a steady increase up to 2019. (2) Term Frequency analysis showed that the keywords for slow fashion are the lowest, with consumers' consumption patterns continuing around 'brand.' (3) Each topic's weight in articles showed that 'social value' - which includes slow fashion - ranked sixth among the 9 topics, low linkage with other topics. (4) Lastly, 'brand' and 'fashion trend' were key topics, and the topic 'social value' accounted for a low proportion. Conclusion: Slow fashion was not a considerable factor of consumption behavior. Consumption patterns in fashion sector are still dominated by general consumption patterns centered on brands and fast fashion.

  • Cyberbullying has become a severe issue and brought a powerful impact on the cyber world. Due to the low cost and fast spreading of news, social media has become a tool that helps spread insult, offensive, and hate messages or opinions in a community. Detecting cyberbullying from social media is an intriguing research topic because it is vital for law enforcement agencies to witness how social media broadcast hate messages. Twitter is one of the famous social media and a platform for users to tell stories, give views, express feelings, and even spread news, whether true or false. Hence, it becomes an excellent resource for sentiment analysis. This paper aims to detect cyberbully threats based on Naïve Bayes, support vector machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbour (k-NN) classifier model. Sentiment analysis will be applied based on people's opinions on social media and distribute polarity to them as positive, neutral, or negative. The accuracy for each classifier will be evaluated.

  • Despite the continued development of alternative energies, fuel consumption is increasing. In particular, the price of gasoline fluctuates greatly according to fluctuations in international oil prices. Gas stations adjust their gasoline inventory to respond to gasoline price fluctuations. In this study, news datasets is used to analyze the gasoline consumption patterns through fluctuations of the gasoline inventory. First, collecting news datasets with web crawling. Second, summarizing news datasets using KoBART, which summarizes the Korean text datasets. Finally, preprocessing and deriving the fluctuations factors through N-Gram Language Model and TF-IDF. Through this study, it is possible to analyze and predict gasoline consumption patterns.

  • To compare whether broadcast fact-checking news, which aims to overcome the limitations of objective reporting, ensures fairness, we analyzed 227 fact-checked news stories aired on the main news of KBS, MBC SBS, TV Chosun, JTBC MBN, and YTN from January 1, 2022 to May 31, 2022, when the 20th presidential and local election campaigns were held. The analysis showed clear differences in fact-checking targets and narratives by broadcasters. In general, MBC, JTBC,and YTN were more likely to favor liberal parties such as the Democratic Party, while TV Chosun had a lot of narratives favoring the conservative camp. SBS and MBN were relatively neutral. KBS seemed to be trying to remain outwardly neutral. SBS and TV Chosun were the most active in fact-checking, but they covered a wide range of issues and were characterized by a bias toward contextualizing issues that viewers were curious about, rather than clarifying the facts. The projection of ideological bias by broadcasters in fact-checking narratives is a challenge that needs to be overcome.

  • Drawing on the theories of mediated public diplomacy, intermedia agenda-building, and homophily, this study aims to compare the effectiveness of the public diplomacy efforts made by the Saudi and Qatari governments during the Gulf diplomatic crisis. The study examines the respective international agenda-building influence of the state-sponsored media from the two competing Gulf states on the regional and international media's coverage of the crisis. Results show that, compared to Saudisponsored Al Arabiya, Qatari-sponsored Al Jazeera was more effective in shaping the agendas of the regional and international media. Whereas Al Arabiya has a weak first-level agenda-building influence and a moderate-to-strong influence at the second and the third levels, Al Jazeera demonstrates a strong agenda-building influence on the foreign media outlets at all of the three levels. We also analyze the impact of political proximity and the language of the media content (English or Arabic) on the agenda-building relationships. Still, the results suggest that, compared to Al Arabiya, Al Jazeera was more successful in shaping the agendas of the regional and international news media-no matter where they are based in the allied or the opposing countries. Also, we observe a higher level of consistency between Arabic- and English-language content in Al Jazeera.

  • In this paper, we investigate the impacts of the following four influential factors on flow in digital reading: contents, platforms, motivations, and places. The contents factor was subdivided into "news articles" and "journal papers"; platforms is comprised of "mobile phones," "tablets," and "laptops"; motivations consists of "pleasure" and "assignments"; and "home," "on the go," and "out of home" are the subdivisions of the places factor. We conducted a questionnaire survey with the study's participants and the following results are shown: 1) The flow during the reading of news articles is influenced by motivations, whereas the flow during the reading of journal papers is influenced by platforms. 2) Regarding mobile phones, motivations significantly affected the flow, whereas content types significantly affected the flow for tablets; also, laptops provided the best flow and articles can be read on the platform regardless of motivations. 3) Reading for pleasure rather than for assignments positively influenced the flow for all of the platforms. 4) With respect to news articles, the places providing flow are different across platforms. However, for journal papers, the places out of home provided good flow. For tablets, the places for flow significantly depended on the content type, which is not the case for laptops.

  • The emergence of new IT technologies and convergence industries, such as artificial intelligence, bigdata and the Internet of Things, is another chance for South Korea, which has established itself as one of the world's top IT powerhouses. On the other hand, however, privacy concerns that may arise in the process of using such technologies raise the task of harmonizing the development of new industries and the protection of personal information at the same time. In response, the government clearly presented the criteria for deidentifiable measures of personal information and the scope of use of deidentifiable information needed to ensure that bigdata can be safely utilized within the framework of the current Personal Information Protection Act. It strives to promote corporate investment and industrial development by removing them and to ensure that the protection of the people's personal information and human rights is not neglected. This study discusses the strategy of deidentifying personal information protection based on the analysis of fake news. Using the strategies derived from this study, it is assumed that deidentification information that is appropriate for deidentification measures is not personal information and can therefore be used for analysis of big data. By doing so, deidentification information can be safely utilized and managed through administrative and technical safeguards to prevent re-identification, considering the possibility of re-identification due to technology development and data growth.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of attribute agenda-setting and priming through content analysis and a survey about Particulate Matter($PM_{10}$ & $PM_{2.5}$) using both promotional news and general news. The study results were as follows. First, promotional news and general news were found to showcase similar cognitive attributes. Second, the results did not show a significant relationship between highlighted attributes in media coverage and the public's salient attributes, but media attributes had been generally reflected in the public's perception because the public was highly aware of the importance of all media attributes. Third, the recognition of the public's attribute importance affected the direction of public opinion, which resulted in the acceptance of priming effects. Meanwhile, the recognition of the public's attribute importance towards economic damage, international cooperation, individual response, and the recognition of promotional news had affected risk perception. Furthermore, the recognition of promotional news and involvement appeared to have an interaction effect on risk perception.
