  • Microstructure modification and electrochemical properties are investigate to estimate the effects of internal chlorides on the steel corrosion in the blended cement systems. According to the test results, slag cement system showed high chloride binding capacity and low corrosion rate. The impedance data showed three distince arcs from lowest(mHz) frequency to highest (MHz) frequency due to product layer, interfacial reaction and bulk matrix. Through the microstructural investigation, fine steel-matrix interface of slag cement system was observed but rough steel-matrix interface of OPC system was observed. Friedel's salt was thought that the substantial material contributed to the chloride binding of slag cement system.

ILGUAN-JEON depressed the gastric lesion in rats induced by HCI-ethanol. 5. ILGUAN-JEON depressed the gastric juice and pepsin secretion, free acid and total acid level in Shay rats. 6. ILGUAN-JEON depressed the GOT and GPT level in rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. From above results, think that ILGUAN-JEON can be applied to recover the liver and gastrointestinal function.

  • This study was aimed to investigate the electrolytes and its relationship with acute stroke patients in each stroke type by case-control study. 217 patients with first-ever acute stroke within 2 weeks as the case group(Cases), 146 people without four major risk factors(hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidema and ischemic heart disease) as the healthy control group(Normals), and 160 people as the general control group(Controls) were recruited at the Stroke Medical Center in Daejeon University Oriental Medicine Hospital from july 2005 to march 2007 for this case-control study. We analyzed the odds ratio of electrolytes in binary logistic analysis and evaluated each stroke type and general characteristics such as age, sex etc. The level of sodium(Na+) and potassium(K+) were significantly lower in LAA, SVO type of ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. But the level of chloride(Cl-) had no significant relation with stroke occurance. In this study we demonstrated that low sodium(Na+) and potassium(K+) have an influence on stoke occurance than chloride(Cl-). And we think that the electrolytes must be considered in risk factors of ischemic stroke in Korean and more prospective studies are needed.

  • Hardness and internal stress are very important in nickel electroforming. Nickel sulfamate bath has been widely used in electroforming because of its low internal stress and moderate hardness. Nickel sulfamate bath without chloride was chosen to investigated the effect of plating variable such as temperature, PH, current density and sodium naphthalene trisulfonate as addition agent on the hardness and internal stress. It was found that hardness increased with increasing temperature and decreasing current density and ranged from 150∼310 DPH. The hardness was highest at $55^{\circ}C$ and 10∼40 mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The internal stress increased with increasing current density and decreasing temperature. It was minimum at PH 3.0∼3.8. Low internal stress within $\pm$1,500 psi was obtained at both $50^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ in 10-20 mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The addition of sodium naphthalene trisulfonate was found to be effective in refine columnar grains thus resulted in decreasing internal stress, increasing hardness and improving brightness.

  • We used the whole cell patch clamp technique to examine the ionic basis for the tail current after depolarizing pulse in single atrial myocytes of the rabbit. We recorded the tail currents during various repolarizations after short depolarizing pulse from a holding potential of -70 mV. The potassium currents were blocked by external 4-aminopyridine and replacement of internal potassium with cesium. The current was reversed to the outward direction above +10 mV. High concentrations of intracellular calcium buffer inhibited the activation of the current. Diltiazem and ryanodine blocked it too. These data suggest that the current is activated by intracellular calcium released from sarcoplasmic reticulumn. When the internal chloride concentration was increased, the inward tail current was increased. The current was partially blocked by the anion transport blocker niflumic acid. The current voltage curve of the niflumic acid sensitive current component shows outward rectification and is well fitted to the current voltage curve of the theoretically predicted chloride current calculated from the constant field equation. The currents recorded in rabbit atrial myocytes, with the method showing isolated outward Na Ca exchange current in ventricular cells of the guinea pig, suggested that chloride conductance could be activated with the activation of Na/ca exchange current. From the above results it is concluded that a chloride sensitive component which is activated by intracellular calcium contributes to tail currents in rabbit atrial cells.

  • Purpose : This study is to find out the Ginseng Radix extract on rats nephrotoxicity when the rates were induced by Cs A. Methods : The experimental animals were divided into 3 groups and treated as follows: nothing was given to Sample A, Sample B was given normal saline after an I.V. injection of Cs A, and Sample C was given Ginseng Radix extract after a Cs A injection. The groups were observed for 14 days. After the prescription of the medicines, the following levels were tested: serum BUN, creatinine, total protein, sodium, potassium, and chloride ions. Results : 1. Changes in serum level. The levels of GPT, GOT, and BUN were significantly reduced in the experimental group when compared with those of the control group. The total protein level showed significant elevation when compared with those of the control group. The chloride level in the serum in the sample group was insignificantly reduced. The creatinine level was insignificantly increased. The Potassium level decreased, mildly. The Sodium and The Potassium levels in the serum in the sample group showed insignificantly lower levels than those of the control group. 2. Changes in the urine level. Urine specific gravity showed a significant increase, on the 14th day, in the experimental group when compared with that of the control group. The urinary ceatinine levels showed and insignificant increase, followed by an insignificant decrease. Conclusion : It can be inferred that Ginseng Radix may improve nephrotoxicity and hepatoxicity in rats when induced by Cyclosporin A.

  • The purpose of this study evaluates possibilities of waste phosphogypsum into concerts by steam curing admixture. The waste phosphogypsum is made use of 4 forms(Dehydrate, $\beta$-Hemihydrate, III-Anhydrite and II-Anhydrite) which were changed to in low temperature of calcination. The penetration depth and compressive strength of cement mortar are investigated to evaluate the chloride ion and carbonation resistance. As a result, chloride ion and carbonation resistance of cement mortar admixed with waste phosphogypsum are more excellent than cement mortar contained OPC alone. The internal pores of cement mortar are decreased by using waste phosphogypsum, because the hydrates of ettringite which is denesified in structure is much formed in early ages at steam curing. These densified effect is concluded with improving the resistance to attack of cement mortar including waste phospogypsum.

  • In paste backfill mining, cemented coal gangue-fly ash backfill (CGFB) can effectively utilize coal-based solid waste, such as gangue, to control surface subsidence. However, given the pressurized water accumulation environment in goafs, CGFB is subject to coupling effects from water pressure and chloride ions. Therefore, studying the influence of pressurized water on the chlorine salt erosion of CGFB to ensure green mining safety is important. In this study, CGFB samples were soaked in a chloride salt solution at different pressures (0, 0.5, 1.5, and 3.0 MPa) to investigate the chloride ion transport characteristics, hydration products, micromorphology, pore characteristics, and mechanical properties of CGFB. Water pressure was found to promote chloride ion transfer to the CGFB interior and the material hydration reaction; enhance the internal CGFB pore structure, penetration depth, and chloride ion content; and fill the pores between the material to reduce its porosity. Furthermore, the CGFB peak uniaxial compression strain gradually decreased with increasing soaking pressure, whereas the uniaxial compressive strength first increased and then decreased. The resulting effects on the stability of the CGFB solid-phase hydration products can change the overall CGFB mechanical properties. These findings are significant for further improving the adaptability of CGFB for coal mine engineering.
