다중서비스를 위한 광대역 아날로그 피드포워드 광 송신기의 상호변조왜곡 및 잡음 특성 (Intermodulation Distortion and Noise Characteristics of Broadband Analog Feedfoward Optical Transmitter for Multi-service Operation)

  • 디지털용 Uncooled DFB 레이저 다이오드를 이용하여 광대역 아날로그 피드포워드 광송신기를 제작하였다. 광송신기의 상호변조왜곡 성분 및 잡음성분을 제거하기 위해 광 피드포워드 보상기법을 사용하였으며, 다중서비스를 위해 $2.05{\sim}2.60$ GHz(550 MHz)에서 상호 변조왜곡 성분이 10 dB 이상 억제되었고, 상대강도잡음은 1.5 dB 이상 억제되었다. 2.3 GHz 에서 3 차 상호변조왜곡성분이 21.3 dB, SFDR 이 7.11 dB 향상된 결과를 얻었다. 또한 단일 모드 광섬유 전송 실험을 통해 전송길이에 따른 3 차 상호변호 왜곡성분의 크기 변화를 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, a predistortion linearizer using series diode is proposed for linearizing the power amplifier in microwave radio systems. The power amplifier should be operated near saturation region to achieve high efficiency. But at this region, amplitude and phase distortions of the amplifier remarkably increase with the increase of input power and cause a significant adjacent channel interference. The linearizer is composed of a series diode with a parallel capacitor, which provides positive amplitude and negative phase deviations with the increasing input power. This type of linearizer using the nonlinearity of diode has improved the C/I(Carrier to Intermodulation Distortion) ratio well. By applying this linearizer to two-tone 880MHz power amplifier, adjacent channel leakage power is improved up to 5dBm.

  • The modulation quality of the RF transmitter in a wireless communication system usually affects system performance and it mostly depends on both a nonlinearity and a distortion, from the intermodulation products and the I/Q mismatch such as I/Q amplitude error and a local phase error, respectively. This paper focused on how much the error vector magnitude(EVM) which describes the modulation accuracy changes according to the variation of the I/Q mismatch components at I/Q modulator. For this work, the equation for the EVM including the I/Q mismatch components can be induced and calculated in accordance with the variation of the I/Q mismatch components. Consequently, the effect of I/Q mismatch components on the EVM, which is required in the transmitter specification of Personal Area Network, can be clearly analyzed.

  • 본 논문에서는 개인휴대통신(PCS)의 최소 규격인 J-STD-018을 기준으로, 높은 이득과 낮은 제 3고조파 차단점을 갖는 수동 더블 밸런스 혼합기와 중간 주파 증폭기로 구성된 수신 시스템을 구성하여 수신 파라미터를 시뮬레이션 결과, 수신감도 규격의 파라미터인 잡음지수는 $E_b/N_t=6$일 때 6.746dB이고 상호변조 스퓨리어스 응답 감쇄 규격의 파라미터인 3차 고조파 차단점은 -11.358dBm이었다.

  • Resident mobile communication system technology has been developed. But, surged high voltages in antenna generally have damaged mobile communication. To solve this problem, we use an arrester in Rx-Tx line system. That is, the arrester is introduced to protect devices in system against considerable over-voltages or lighting strike. Currently, system protection using an arrester has arrived in a content level but these days, the PIMD(Passive Intermodulation Distortion) with RF passive components' nonlinear characteristic has appeared. This paper describes PIMD' causes occurred in arrester-estimated from Gas tube capsule. plating, temperature, and humidity by experiment.

광대역전력분배기의 설계 및 제작 (Design and Implementation of a Broadband Power Divider)

  • 국내 이동통신 주파수를 모두 수용할 수 있는 광대역분배기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 제작한 20W급 광대역분배기는 810 ~ 2620MHz의 동작주파수에서 삽입손실은 최대 3.49dB, -18.48dB 이하의 입력반사계수, -20.2dB 이하의 출력반사계수, 24.7dB 이상의 격리도 그리고 3차 PIMD(Passive Intermodulation Distortion)는 -141.2dBc의 성능을 갖는다.

  • A GaAs MMIC composed of VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) and mixer for PCS receiver has been developed using 1.mu.m ion implanted GaAs MESFET process. The VCO consists of a colpitts-type oscillator with a dielectric resonator and the circuit configuration of the mixer is a dual-gate type with an asymmetric combination of LO and RF FETs for the improvement of intermodulation characteristics. The common-source self-biasing is used in all circuits including a buffer amplifier and mixer, achieving a single power supply (3V) operation. The total power dissipation is 78mW. The VCO chip shows a phase noise of-99 dBc/Hz at 100KHz offset. The combined VCO/mixer chip shows a flat conversion gain of 2dB, the frequency-tuning factor of 80MHz/volts in the varacter bias ranging from 0.5V to 0.5V , and output IP3 of dBm at varactor bias of 0V. The fabricated chip size is 2.5mm X 1.4mm.

전력증폭기의 효율 개선을 위한 도허티증폭기의 특성분석 (Characteristic Analysis of Doherty Amplifier for Efficiency Improvement of Power Amplifier)

  • 본 논문은 전력증폭기의 효율을 개선하기 위한 도허티증폭기의 특성 분석에 관한 것이다. 도허티증폭기의 특성을 분석하기 위해 2-tone신호와 WCDMA신호를 사용하였고 180W PEP LDMOSFET을 사용하였다. 제작된 도허티증폭기는 출력 전력 20W에서 약 10%정도의 효율개선을 나타냈지만 선형성이 저하되는 특성을 나타내었다. 저하된 선형성을 개선시키기 위해 carrier 증폭기(Amp. A)와 peaking 증폭기(Amp. B)를 각각 변화하였으며, carrier 증폭기는 높은 PEP(Peak Envelope Power)와 적은 Id(drain current)가 되도록 하였고, peaking 증폭기는 높은 이득과, 낮은 gate bias에서 IMD(Intermodulation Distortion)가 상쇄되도록 하였다. 최종 측정 결과 출력전력 20W에서 선형성은 class AB증폭기와 비교하여 유사한 결과를 얻었으며, 효율은 약 10% 이상의 개선을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • An MMIC single-balanced upconverting mixer for PCS application has been successfully developed using an MMIC process employed by 1 .mu. ion implanted GaAs MESFET and passive lumped elements consisting of spiral inductor, Si3N4 MIM capacitors and NiCr resistors. The configuration of the mixer presented in this paper is two balanced cascode FET mixers with common-source self-bias circuits for single power supply operation. The dimension of the fabricated circuit including two active baluns intermodulation characteristic with two-tone excitation are also measured, showing -28.17 dBc at IF power of -30 dBm.

Feedforward 방식을 이용한 Predistortor에 관한 연구 (A Study on Predistortor using the Feedforward type)

  • A new Predistortor that is designed using Feedforward type is proposed to overcome the nonlinearity of HPA (High Power Amplifier). HPA has the nonlinearity of the gain compression and phase distorton, so digital communication system of multi-carrier TDMA needs the linear RF transmitter. Using IMD (Intermodulation Distortion) of drive amplifier, as Feedforward type, the inverse IMD is coupled to the main loop with variable attenuators, phase shifters, and sub-amplifiers well designed. At the input of main amplifier, the over-coupled IMD surpresses the main amplifier 's IMD. Adjusting the level and phase of IMD at the sub loop, C/I of HPA is better than before correction.
