This study presents the design of an 18 kW two-phase interleaved buck converter that uses a coupled inductor for an electric vehicle rapid charger. The designs of a two-phase coupled inductor for current ripple and physical size reduction and a two-phase interleaved buck converter based on silicon carbide metal - oxide - semiconductor field-effect transistor for high efficiency were described in detail. The operating principle of the two-phase interleaved buck converter was analyzed, and the coupled inductor was investigated using a magnetized equivalent circuit. Simulation and experiments were conducted to verify the validity of the proposed two-phase interleaved buck converter, and the theoretical design method and experimental results were confirmed.
This paper presents the generalized and explicit expressions for evaluating the performance of the multi-phase interleaved boost converter in discontinuous inductor current mode. Furthermore, the generalized transfer functions of interest are presented and the dynamic characteristics are analyzed The generalized analysis of converter performance is verified through the experimental and simulation results.
This paper presents the steady-state characteristics of the multi-phase interleaved converters in discontinuous inductor current mode(DICM). The full-order averaged model is derived, and the conversion ratio and efficiency are presented.
In this study, carbon fiber/epoxy (CF/EP) composites were interleaved with aramid nonwoven veils with an areal weight density of $8.5g/m^2$ to improve their Mode-I fracture toughness. The control and aramid interleaved CF/EP composite laminates were manufactured by VARTM in a [0]4 configuration. Tensile, three-point bending, compression, interlaminar shear, Charpy impact and Mode-I (DCB) fracture toughness values were determined to evaluate the effects of aramid nonwoven fabrics on the mechanical performance of the CF/EP composites. Thermomechanical behavior of the specimens was investigated by Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). The results showed that the propagation Mode-I fracture toughness values of CF/EP composites can be significantly improved (by about 72%) using aramid nonwoven fabrics. It was found that the main extrinsic toughening mechanism is aramid microfiber bridging acting behind the crack-tip. The incorporation of these nonwovens also increased interlaminar shear and Charpy impact strength by 10 and 16.5%, respectively. Moreover, it was revealed that the damping ability of the composites increased with the incorporation of aramid nonwoven fabrics in the interlaminar region of composites. On the other hand, they caused a reduction in in-plane mechanical properties due to the reduced carbon fiber volume fraction, increased thickness and void formation in the composites.

This paper presents the generalized and explicit expressions for evaluating the performance of the multi-phase interleaved buck converter (IBC) operating in discontinuous inductor current mode (DICM). The full-order averaged model is derived. The generalized transfer functions of interest are presented and the dynamic characteristics are analyzed. The generalized analysis of converter performance is verified through the experimental and simulation results.
This study presents a practical implementation of a multi-mode two-phase interleaved boost converter for fuel cell electric vehicle application. The main operating modes, which include two continuous conducting modes and four discontinuous conducting modes, are discussed. The boundaries and transitions among these modes are analyzed with consideration of the inductor parasitic resistance. The safe operational area is analyzed through a comparison of the different operating modes. The output voltage and power characteristics with open-loop or closed-loop operation are also discussed. Key performance parameters, including the DC voltage gain, input ripple current, output ripple voltage, and switch stresses, are presented and supported by simulation and experimental results.
An improved bridgeless interleaved boost power factor correction (PFC) rectifier to improve power efficiency and component utilization is proposed in this study. With combined conventional bridgeless PFC circuit and interleaved technology, the proposed rectifier consists of two interleaved and magnetic inter-coupling boost bridgeless converter cells. Each cell operates alternatively in the critical conduction mode, which can achieve the soft-switching characteristics of the switches and increase power capacity. Auxiliary blocking diodes are employed to eliminate undesired circulating loops and reduce current-sensing noise, which are among the serious drawbacks of a dual-boost PFC rectifier. Magnetic component utilization is improved by symmetrically coupling two inductors on a unique core, which can achieve independence from each other based on the auxiliary diodes. Through the interleaved approach, each switch can operate in the whole line cycle. A simple control scheme is employed in the circuit by using a conventional interleaved controller. The operation principle and theoretical analysis of the converter are presented. A 600 W experimental prototype is built to verify the theoretical analysis and feasibility of the proposed rectifier. System efficiency reaches 97.3% with low total harmonic distortion at full load.

In the multi-phase interleaved converter with peak current mode control, current imbalance is measured when inductors of converter module are not exactly identical. In this paper current-sharing controller is proposed to balance phase current of converter modules. It also is designed to have good transient response. Proposed method implemented the 2-phase and 4-phase interleaved boost converter with imbalanced inductance. Experimental results verify the performance of Current share during the transient state of converter.

In this paper a new current control method is proposed for the discontinuous conduction mode of boost converter. The proposed method using a current gain feedforward compensation adjusts a measured inductor current value and then, calculated an average current precisely in the discontinuous conduction mode as well as continuous conduction mode. By applying the proposed method, the current measurement error is significantly reduced to 2% regardless of the operating points. The proposed method is analyzed and its performance is investigated in simulation. To verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme, a 10kW 3-phase interleaved boost converter was built and experimental results are matched to the simulation results.

This paper compared to the operation performance and efficiency of an interleaved active clap ZVS forward converter and an interleaved ZVS half-bridge converter in distributed power system. The design for the current-mode control circuit of an interleaved active clamp ZVS forward converter is presented. To simplify the gate drive circuits, N-P MOSFETs coupled active clamp method is proposed. An efficiency about 90% for the 50∼100% load range is achieved.
