  • As the population interested in interior design has been increasing, the global interior market has grown significantly. Global interior companies are developing and providing simulation services for various interior elements. Although wallpaper design is the most important interior element, existing wallpaper design simulation services are difficult to use due to drawbacks such as differences between expected and actual results, long simulation time, and the need for professional skills. We proposed a wallpaper image transformation method for interior design using cycle generative adversarial networks (GAN). The proposed method demonstrates that users can simulate wallpaper design within a short period of time based on interior image data using various types of wallpaper.

  • Shipboard architecture and design has now become a specialty In its own right. As rationalized as the process of ship' design and built is, it continues to produce some remarkable fleet image. Cruise line has created a number of the hall mark identities and the interior design features of its own. It is to develop a design theme for a reference ship which sets a particular image for later new buildings to follow in same class. When a new class Is created later, key design element will be retained, with some items being changed and new ideas introduced. Thus the approach has the flexibility to grow and change as the industry itself evolves and diversifies. There are a number of notable examples which illustrate how different line are thus able to create and maintain unique product hallmarks and identities through the interior design of their fleets.

  • Telecommuting becomes a new form of work according to the development of information technology. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the interior space planning of telecommuting centers by means of surveying office workers' opinions. The major findings of this research are as follows. The opinion about whether to use telecommuting center if provided is showed highly positively. In the matter of space type of telecommuting center, 'mixing type I (open plan office but division with high partition)' is the most preferred, the next, is 'closed type'. The most preferred type of workstation is 'independent type', the next is 'X type' and the third is 'link type'. Preferred partition height is '1,300-1,500mm'. When planning telecommuting center, the most important element of space plan is 'size and layout of workstation' and the second is 'private space for confidential work'. In public workplace, the most important element 'refreshment space', and the second one is 'mailing system'.

  • The importance of the community centers has been increased throughout the decade. With the interest on the centers, the quality of the architectural design of the centers have been much improved. But the importance of the interior design and color' design of the centers have been ignored. It is quite sure that the quality of the interior design impact on the satisfaction degree of the users. And color is the important element which can control the quality of the interior design economically. This study surveyed the three community centers in Seoul to investigate the status of the color usages. And to consider the user's need, and preference in color design, this study performs the questionnaire about the color image and color pallette preference of the users and interior design professionals. Mainly highly bright and low chromatic YR colors were used, giving rigid and monotonous atmosphere. The most preferred color image were warm, bright and secondly friendly, simple, soft, open. And the preference for pallette were various but we can find the difference of color preference and color combination type according to the user's group. As a result, This study proposes the basic guidelines for color design, such as ideal color Image and color and color combination type and color pallette. This proposals can be applied as a basic guideline for color design of the community centers.

  • This study investigates the effects of interior design elements on the satisfaction and preference for space. Field measurements and surveys were conducted in three coffeeshops where various interior design elements were applied. Results indicate that movable tables and chairs for two people were preferred in the space. They need to be placed flexibly according to the visitors' needs to improve satisfaction for convenience. To improve spatial satisfaction, the brightness of color applied to wall surfaces was recommended to be lower than that of color used for floor surfaces. The surfaces of space and interior design elements such as furniture also need to be kept clean. Lamps with lower color temperature were effective to enhance spatial satisfaction. Light sources should be shielded when a pendant lighting system with general diffuse type was used in space. Natural daylight through window was also required for better satisfaction level. Multiple linear regression implied that the cozy feeling by electric light, existence of daylight, flexible layouts for tables and chairs, color and quality of material for tables and floor were significant contributors to overall spatial satisfaction.

  • Memory and schema are very similar in terms of human accumulated mental and physical experiences. However, while memory has more personal aspect, schema discussed in this paper has more collective aspect. Schema has been developed through different generations and times, and has become a specific psychological or visual element(s) that can be applied to various fields, such as all, design and architecture. This study focuses on Aldo Rossi's architectural design characteristics based on his 'Autobiographical Concept' as well as personal schema. 'Autobiographical Concept' is the crucial structure supporting Aldo Rossi's distinctive formalization and spatialization. 4 case projects were comparatively analyzed by the 5 elements included in 'Autobiographical Concept'. It was not easy to relate each element to a specific design aspect because the 5 elements are somehow theoretically and conceptually inter-connected each other. Even though it is very difficult to directly relate a conceptual element with a real spatial element, it is found that the 5 elements have some differences in the spatialization process. Thus, in the conclusion, this study attempted to show the unique characteristics of the Aldo Rossi's architectural design process based on his 'Autobiographical Concept'.

  • This study is tended to analyze the characteristics of the emotional office environment so that digital technologies may adapt to the rapidly progressing social structure in a flexible way, investigate the interior composition of the changing office space and the element and direction of design and then present the indoor environment appropriate to it with the desirable alternative to the emotional office. The recognition of emotionality becomes so important that it is called 'emotional society'. Emotional design, which is mostly concern about user's consensus & experiences and in the space, is appeared on office. Emotional design is understanded from a interactive point of view, human and interior-space. The important factors of this study are light, color, immateriality and fun sensitivity The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional design by analysis of multifarious spaces. Office space Is designed emotional and experienced in the future.

  • The best feature of Hotels is they have 24 business hours providing various services. But Interior designers can't change space to answer every demands, it's mood can be changed by lighting design. Especially guest rooms have complex functions like space with habitability and office use. Well planed lighting design in guest rooms is an essential element to help creating interior space in designer's intention with cozy feeling. Here this study is purposed to present a desirable lighting environment satisfying future-oriented function and design throughout the latest examples' analysis of guest room carrying out various functions in hotels.

  • Style have been changing by the situations and the background of contemporary politics, society and economics, and which influence significantly to create new forms. Since the style of ART DECOC 1929s -1930s) has been studied with main reference to its cause and motivation, it is known that the style of ART DECO is one that has given $$\mu$h potential and chance to the development of interior design. In the study, it was focussed on to study on interior design, architecture, funiture, etc. in America where ART DECO had been once successful in his career. The following are the contents of the study implying the establishment of directions concerning styles in accordance with the transitional process of the era, etc.; i.e., the purpose of the study, the range + period of the study, contemporary backgrounds, elements of ART DECO' style, ART DECO in AmericaCthe background of ART DECO s subject, etc.).The writer of this study, while referring to the study and groping for any help to finding a brilliant concept of design and the merit of the trend of a contemporary era, hope to contribute more my own interior design.

  • Understanding consumers' latent desires for product form has now become a critical issue in product design. Accordingly, product development processes is rapidly changing from product-oriented development to user-centered development. Driver visibility is considered as an important element of driving posture packaging in automobile interior design. This study presents a systematic process for driver visibility analysis approached from affective engineering method that provides design variable selection and screening with respect to the image/impression element of the human visibility. Also, the analysis of front visibility, often called the feeling of "openness", in motor vehicle interior design, is selected and practiced a case study using the systematic process proposed in this study. Twenty six participants evaluated the feeling of openness for thirty motor vehicles following the perceived scale of affective design factors. The results showed that variables such as the height of head lining, the height of cluster housing, the gradient of windshield and the volume of A-pillar were the critical design variables which affect the feeling of openness in a motor vehicle.
