The three factors that determine the strength of concrete are the strength of cement paste, aggregate and ITZ(Interfacial Transition Zone) between aggregate and cement paste. Out of these, the strength of ITZ is the most vulnerable. ITZ is formed in 10~50㎛, the ratio of calcium hydroxide is high, and CSH appears low ratio. A high calcium hydroxide ratio causes a decrease in the bond strength of ITZ. ITZ is due to further weak area. The problem of ITZ appears as a more disadvantageous factor when it used lightweight aggregate. The previous study of ITZ properties have measured interfacial toughness, identified influencing factors ITZ, and it progressed SEM and XRD analysis on cement matrix without using coarse aggregates. also it was identified microstructure using EMPA-BSE equipment. However, in previous studies, it is difficult to understand the microstructure and mechanical properties. Therefore, in this study, a method of measuring electrical resistance using EIS(Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) measuring equipment was adopted to identify the ITZ between natural aggregate and lightweight aggregate, and it was tested the change of ITZ by surface coating of lightweight aggregate with ground granulated blast furnace slag. As a result, the compressive strength of natural aggregate and lightweight aggregate appear high strength of natural aggregate with high density, surface coating lightweight aggregate appear strength higher than natural aggregate. The electrical resistivity of ITZ according to the aggregate appeared difference.
Statement of problem. Cortical bone plays an important role in the primary implant stability, which is essential to immediate/early loading. However, immediate load-bearing capacity and primary implant stability according to the change of the cortical bone thickness have not been reported. Purpose. The objectives of this study were (1) to measure the immediate load-bearing capacity of implant and primary implant stability according to the change of cortical bone thickness, and (2) to evaluate the correlation between them. Material and methods.48, screw-shaped implants (3.75 mm$\times$7 mm) were placed into bovine rib bone blocks with different upper cortical bone thickness (0-2.5 mm) and resonance frequency (RF) values were measured subsequently. After fastening of healing abutment. implants were subjected to a compressive load until tolerated micromotion threshold known for the osseointegration and load values at threshold were recorded. Thereafter, RF measurement after loading, CT taking and image analysis were performed serially to evaluate the cortical bone quality and quantity. Immediate load-bearing capacity and RF values were analyzed statistically with ANOVA and post-hoc method at 95% confidence level (P<0.05). Regression analysis and correlation test were also performed. Results. Existence and increase of cortical bone thickness increased the immediate load-bearing capacity and RF value (P<0.05) With the result of regression analysis, all parameter's of cortical bone thickness to immediate load-bearing capacity and resonance frequency showed significant positive values (P<0.0001). A significant high correlation was observed between the cortical bone thickness and immediate load-beating capacity (r=0.706, P<0.0001), between the cortical bone thickness and resonance frequency (r=0.753, P<0.0001) and between the immediate load-bearing capacity and resonance frequency (r=0.755, P<0.0001). Conclusion. In summary, cortical bone thickness change affected the immediate load-baring capacity and the RF value. Although RF analysis (RFA) is based on the measurement of implant/bone interfacial stiffness, when the implant is inserted stably, RFA is also considered to reflect implant/bone interfacial strength of immediately after placement from high correlation with the immediate load-baring capacity. RFA and measuring the cortical bone thickness with X-ray before and during surgery could be an effective diagnosis tool for the success of immediate loading of implant.
In this study, the hydrophilicity of the metal fiber is improved by introducing an oxygen-containing functional group to the fiber surface after treatment of the metal fiber using the oxygen plasma treatment time as an experimental variable. For the surface modification of metal fibers, changes in surface properties before and after plasma treatment were observed using SEM and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). In order to observe the effect of the plasma treatment time on the surface of the metal fiber, the change in contact angle of the metal fiber with respect to a polar solvent and a non-polar solvent was measured. After calculating the change in surface free energy using the measured contact angle, the contact angle and the surface free energy for metal fibers before and after oxygen plasma treatment were compared, and the correlation with the adhesion work was also considered. The microdroplet specimens were prepared to investigate the effect of surface changes of these metal fibers on the improvement of shear strength at the interface when combined with other materials and the interfacial shear strength was measured, and the correlation with the adhesion work was also identified. Therefore, the oxygen plasma treatment of the metal fiber results in an increase in the physical surface area on the fiber surface and a change in contact angle and surface energy according to the introduction of the oxygen-containing functional group on the surface. This surface hydrophilization resulted in improving the interfacial shear strength with the polymer resin.

We investigated the change of mechanical properties for TiNi shape memory alloy by heat treatment. 6061Al matrix composites with TiNi shape memory alloy as reinforcement were fabricated by vacuum casting. TiNi alloy has the maximum tensile strength at 673K treated and there is no change of tensile strength and hardness at 448K treated. The composites, prepared by vacuum casting, showed good interface bonding by vacuum casting. It was about 3$\mu\textrm{m}$ of thickness of the diffusion layer. Tensile strength of the composite was in higher than that of 6061Al alloy as increased value of about 70MPa at room temperature and about 110MPa at 363K. We thought that the increase of the tensile strength at 363K was due to reverse transformation of the TiNi shape memory alloy.
A highly dispersed W/O emulsion of silicone oil (cyclomethicone)/water system was prepared with a nonionic surfactant. The surface and interfacial tension between the oil and water were characterized in terms of the droplet size distribution and viscosity change of the emulsion. When the dispersed phase concentration was relatively high, the viscosity of the emulsion was rapidly increased and the droplet size of the emulsion was decreased. The rheological behavior of the emulsion system showed non-Newtonian and shear thinning phenomena depending upon the content of the dispersed phase. The droplet size of the emulsion was decreased with increasing surfactant content and water concentration. The relative viscosity of the emulsion was better predicted with the Choi-Schowalter model than with the Taylor model. The value of the complex modulus increased with increasing surfactant concentration. The linear viscoelastic region was expanded with a dispersed phase concentration. According to the change in the viscosity, the behavior was classified into three distinct regions: [I] linear viscoelastic, [II] partially viscoelastic, and [III] viscous. The creep/recovery behaviors in each region were characterized.
A general purpose program NUFLEX has been extended for two-phase flows with topologically complex interface and cavitation flows with liquid-vapor phase change caused by large pressure drop. In analysis of two-phase flow, the phase interfaces are tracked by employing a LS(Level Set) method. Compared with the VOF(Volume-of-Fluid) method based on a non-smooth volume-fraction function, the LS method can calculate an interfacial curvature more accurately by using a smooth distance function. Also, it is quite straightforward to implement for 3-D irregular meshes compared with the VOF method requiring much more complicated geometric calculations. Also, the cavitation process is computed by including the effects of evaporation and condensation for bubble formation and collapse as well as turbulence in flows. The volume-faction and continuity equations are adapted for cavitation models with phase change. The LS and cavitation formulation are implemented into a general purpose program for 3-D flows and verified through several test problems.
Residual stress is a dominant obstacle to efficient production and safe usage of products by reducing the mechanical strength and failure properties. Especially, it causes interfacial failure and substrate deflection in the case of thin film. So, the exact evaluation and optimum control of thin film residual stress is indispensable. However, hole drilling or X-ray diffraction techniques have some limits in application to thin film. And, curvature technique for thin film materials cannot give the information about local stress variation. Therefore, we applied the nanoindentation technique in evaluating the thin film residual stress. In this study, we modeled the change of indentation loading curve for residually stressed and stress-free thin films during stress relaxation. The value of residual stress was directly related to the indentation depth change by relaxation. The residual stress from nanoindentation analysis was consistent with the result from curvature technique.
Frequency-dependent electrical properties of $C_{22}$-Quinolinium(TCNQ) LB films were investigated in a frequency range of 10[Hz]-13[MHz] along a perpendicular direction. The films were heat-treated to understand an electrodynamic response in a temperature range of 20-240[.deg. C]. Frequencydependent dielectric constants show that there are two characteristic dispersions; one is a dispersion occuring near 1[MHz] coming from the orientational polarization of the molecules and the other one is an interfacial polarization effect below 1[kHz] or so when the annealing temperature is above 80 [.deg. C]. The overall frequency-dependent dielectric constant is higher near 80[.deg. C]. It may be due to a softness of the alkyl chains. Several other methods were employed to identify the internal structure change of the films. DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) data of the $C_{22}$-Quinolinium(TCNQ) molecules shows that there is an endothermic process near 110[.deg. C] and a weak exothermic process near 180[.deg. C]. While the endothermic process is related to a disordering of the alkyl chains, the exothermic process seems to be due to a chemical structure change of the TCNQ molecules. Thickness measurement by ellipsometry shows that there is a thickness drop near 100[.deg. C], and the thickness above 120[.deg. C] becomes around 20[%] of the room-temperature value.lue.

We have studied a relationship between the pattern of complex modulus change versus internal phase volume ratio and the rheological consistency of concentrated W/O emulsions with Magnesium Sulfate in the range 0.0 to 0.5 wt% and with different oil polarities, respectively. The rheological consistency with time of concentrated W/O emulsion was checked using Fudoh Rheometer and the coalescence of deformed water droplets was examined using polarized light microscope(LEICA DMRP). To find the pattern of complex modulus change of the concentrated emulsions versus internal phase volume ratio, the effect of varying water phase volume fraction from 0.78 up to 0.85 on viscoelastic measurements was investigated using rotational rheometer (HAAKE Rheostress RS 50). The rheological consistency was mainly destroyed by the coalescence of the deformed water droplets. The greater the increase of complex modulus was, the less coalescence occurred and the more consistent the concentrated emulsions were. And the pattern of complex modulus increase versus volume ratio has been explained with the resistance to coalescence of the deformed interfacial film of water droplets in concentrated W/O emulsion.
In this study, high stable oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) have been developed by using several approaching techniques, which including a change of the channel composition ratio in multi-component oxide semiconductors, a change of TFT structure with interfacial dielectric layers, a control of interface roughness, a channel-doping method, and so on.
