연령별 비만에 대한 인식 및 체중 조절에 대한 태도 (A Study on the Perception of Obesity by Age and the Attitude toward Weight Control)

  • Along with the increasing interests of modem-day society toward topics of health and beauty, various studies are being actively conducted on the effects of diet for obesity prevention, and separate from aspects of disease prevention and health promotion. This study aimed to examine individual perceptions of obesity by age, and to prepare basic data for implementing an age-based weight control system, by comparing attitudes toward weight control. The research and analysis were conducted using questionnaires, provided to high school students(teenagers, 189 students), college students(20 or older, 116 students), and adults(30 or over, 88 adults) living in Daegu City. In terms of the respondents' perceptions of obesity, among those who described themselves as overweight, only about 10% were actually proven to be overweight. Also, significantly more female students than male students perceived themselves as overweight, despite the fact that they were in a normal weight range(p<0.007). There was no significant difference in the cause of obesity by gender, but it was found to be attributed to a lack of exercise for teenagers, and poor eating habits for those in their twenties and thirties. Concerning the intention to participate in a weight management class, the female teenagers showed significantly more interest than the male teenagers(p<0.017). Also, with regard to the respondents' attitudes toward weight control, the teenage females showed significantly higher interest in weight control than the teenage males p<0.003 and those in their twenties p<0.001. Moreover, regarding the period in which the respondents became most interested in weight, the teenage male students were most interested in weight during their middle school years and teenage females became most interested during their high school years. Therefore, the information from this study leads us to propose there is a need to correct the suggested reckless dieting that is occurring within an appearance-based society, as well as a need to establish a systematic weight control system, along with gathering subsequent basic data.

서울 일부 지역 여고생의 체중조절 및 이와 관련된 요인 (A Study of Weight Control and Associated Factors among High School Female Students)

  • The study purpose was to examine weight control status and related factors among 370 high school girls in Seoul. Factors examined included interest toward weight control, body satisfaction, body image, beliefs regarding weight control and self-efficacy. $65.1\%$ had attempted to control weight and were categorized into attempt group. Those in the attempt group had higher body weight (p < 0.001) and BMI (p < 0.001) than the counterparts. They tried to control weight 2.9 times on average (22.4 days each time). The major information sources for weight control were internet ($62.8\%$), and TV/radio ($17.1\%$). Exercise was most commonly used for weight control, followed by reducing meal amount and skipping dinner. The attempt group was less satisfied with body size (p < 0.001) and perceived their body size as heavier than the counterparts (p < 0.001), but they showed more interest toward weight control (p < 0.001). The ideal body size of society or the body size that they want was very thin in both groups. Twelve out of 20 beliefs regarding weight control were significantly different between the two groups. The attempt group believed more strongly on the advantages such as increased self-confidence, appearance, attractiveness (p < 0.001) and 'good for making friends' (p < 0.01) In contrast, the attempt group believed less strongly about the disadvantages including harmful effects on health (p < 0.001), parents' dislike, feelings of discouragement (p < 0.01) and becoming (p < 0.05). The attempt group showed lower overall self-efficacy to control overeating (p < 0.05) than the counterparts. Especially, the attempt group felt less control of overeating in situations such as eating-out, after school, when they are with family (p < 0.01) or with friends, when they feel hungry, during examination periods and when others offer food (p < 0.05). This study suggested that weight management education for adolescents include strategies for changing body image and beliefs regarding weight control, as well as increasing self-efficacy to control overeating. 중학생의 체형에 대한 인식 및 체중 조절태도 - 강원도 영월군을 중심으로- (The Recognition of Body Shape and the Attitude toward Weight Control of Middle School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition of body shape, the difference between self-evaluated obesity and obesity index of RBW, and attitude toward weight control of middle students. The questionnaires were completed by 195 male and 189 female students of liveing in Yongwol county. The average stature of the boys is 166.97$\pm$6.21cm, the girls is 158.13$\pm$5.83cm, and the average weight of the boys is 57.97$\pm$12.39kg, the girls is 52.88$\pm$8.35kg. 2. In the present body structure of them, the underweight structure is 6.0%, the normal weight structure is 87.2%, and the overweight structure is 6.7%. In the recognition of their own body structures, there are meaningful differences between boys and girls. 3. In the contentment degree of the present body structure of their own, the underweiht structure is much more satisfied with it.(p〈0.001) It shows a meaningful difference between boys and girls. 25.6% boys are satisfied with their own body structures, and 7.4% girls are satisfied with it.(p〈0.001) 4. In the interest degree about the weight's control, 87.1% is interested in it, it is lower in the underweight structure. 88.0% girls and 77.4% boys are interested in the weight's control. There is a meaningful difference between boys and girls, too.(p〈0.001) Each of the weight groups has differences in a experienced or experiencing for the weight's control. 5. The recognition degree of the present body structure showed the meaningful positive relation to the contentment degree of the present body structure and the weight's control.(p〈0.001)

속초시 고등학생의 체중조절에 대한 태도와 식생활 항동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Weight Control Attitude and Food Behavior of High School Students in Sokcho)

  • 본 연구는 속초시에 소재한 남녀공학 고등학교 1학년 405명(남학생 197명, 여학생 208명)을 대상으로 외모에 대한 관심과 체중조절에 대한 태도, 식생활 행동에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 대부분의 학생들은 외모에 관심이 많았으며, 체형에 대한 인식은 남녀간에 유의한 차이가 있었다(P<.001). 자신의 체형에 대한 만족도는 남학생의 22.8%가 만족한다고 한 반면 여학생은 9.6%만이 만족하는 것으로 조사되었다. 체중조절에 대한 관심도는 남학생의 43.7%, 여학생은 79.8%가 관심을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 체중조절 관심도와 체형에 대한 인식과의 관련성은 남녀 모두 체중조절에 관심 있는 집단, 보통집단, 관심 없는 집단간에 유의한 차이(p<.001)를 보였다. 전체적으로는 체중조절에 관심 있는 집단의 학생들 41.3%가 자신의 체형이 약간 살찐 편이라고 인식하고 있었으며, 남학생의 경우 자신이 마른편이라고 생각하는 학생들도 체중조절에 관심이 많은 것으로 나타난 반면 자신이 말랐다고 생각하는 대부분의 여학생들은 대체적으로 체중조절에 관심이 없었다. 체형에 대한 만족도는 남녀 모두 체중 조절에 관심이 있는 집단. 보통집단. 관심이 없는 집단간에 유의한 차이(p<.001)를 나타냈다. 또한 조사대상자들의 아침식사는 매우 불규칙했으며, 저녁은 밥을 먹는다는 학생이 85.9%로 비교적 규칙적으로 식사를 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 매 끼니의 결식률도 저녁이 가장 낮아서 한번도 거르지 않는다는 학생은 46.4%였다. 식사를 매일 거르는 경우가 가장 많은 식사는 아침으로 남학생 17.8%, 여학생 28.9%로 전체 23.5%의 학생이 매일 아침식사를 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 결식이유는 아침식사의 경우 65.1%의 학생이 시간이 없어서이고, 귀찮아서 식사를 거른다는 경우는 점심식사(39.8%)와 저녁식사(31.3elo)에서 큰 비중을 차지했다. 체중을 줄이기 위해 식사를 거른다는 경우는 아침(1.3%)보다는 점심(7.0%)이, 점심보다는 저녁(13.8%)이 높았다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해서 고등학생 대상의 체중조절 관련영양교육에서는 우선 체형에 대한 올바른 인식을 심어주고, 체형 만족도를 높여주어야 하겠다. 또한 체중조절과 하루 세끼 균형잡힌 식사를 하는 것에 대한 중요성이 강조되는 영양교육과 구체적인 방안을 제시해야 할 것으로 사료된다.

패밀리 레스토랑 고객 특성에 따른 영양과 건강메뉴에 대한 태도 연구 (Family Restaurant Patrons' Attitudes toward Nutrition & Healthy Menus)

  • This study sought to determine family restaurant patrons' attitudes toward nutrition and healthy menus. A written questionnaire was handed out to 300 dine-in customers at the three different sites of T brand family restaurant. A total of 265 questionnaires were usable for data analysis, resulting in 88% response rate. Two attitude statements eliciting the strongest agreement were that 'Diet and chronic diseases risk are closely connected each other(4.44)' and 'Koreans are more nutrition & health conscious than they were in the past(4.41)'. The attitude statement-that nutrition is important when I eat out- received the lowest scores(2.92), which indicated that nutrition was not yet considered the most important factor when dining out. 23% of the respondents were interested in healthful foods, while 30% said they were unconcerned. Nutrition conscious group showed significantly (p<.000) higher attitude scores for most of statements than unconcerned group. Significant differences were found in age groups(p<.05, p<.01, p<.001), income levels(p<.05), educational levels(p<.05), health status groups(p<.05), and weight control interest groups(p<.05). Older respondents, respondents with higher income and educational levels were more interested in nutrition and healthy menus. Respondents who reported good health status and showed higher interest in weight control were more interested in nutrition and healthy menus. These findings indicate that restaurant firms should respond to consumers' increased interest in nutrition and healthy menus by offering healthful menus and increasing nutrition marketing activities. This may positively result in increasing customer counts and revenue as well as customer satisfaction level and brand image of restaurant firms. Moreover, restaurant firms are strongly encouraged to play an active role in promoting public's nutritional and health status because increasing consumption of meals away from home will seriously affect good health of our consumers.

  • Recently, the desire for low body weight, which is an abnormal weight construct along with obesity, has become an evident and serious problem in teenagers. In Korea, the desire for low weight is not perceived as an important problem, but it is rapidly expanding relative to the physical changes and developmental issues teenagers experience. The social atmosphere presented through mass media is the key influencer for the increasing low weight occurrence in teenagers. Because thoughts about beauty have changed among people, and since there is apparent blind interest in slim body shape and appearance, already low-weight individuals are attempting to lose weight along with obese persons. Thus, we consider it necessary to guide teenagers toward having correct perceptions with regard to weight and their own body shape, and that a healthy and appropriate weight is beautiful. Therefore, for this study, we investigated body perception, abnormal weight, attitude toward weight control, and factors related to eating behavior among teenage girls, who are considered the at risk group for overt body weight control behavior. Based on this, we have attempted to set in motion a systematic and active nutrition education program that will allow us to increase body satisfaction by educating on nutritional issues related to development, and ultimately, implant healthy body shape perceptions.

여고생의 체중조절, 영양지식, 식태도, 식행동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Weight Control, Nutritional Knowledge, Dietary Attitudes and Eating Behaviors among High School Female Students)

  • This study was designed to examine weight control, nutritional knowledge, dietary attitudes and eating behaviors of 370 high school girls and to investigate if there were differences in these variables by weight control status. The weight control attempters (65.1%) had significantly higher body weight and BMI (p<0.001). The difference between desired and current body weight was -9.1 kg in the attempters, showing a significantly higher difference than the counterparts (p<0.001). The attempters also showed more interest toward weight control (p<0.001), but were less satisfied with their body size (p<0.001). Most of subjects (88.1%), especially in the attempters (96.7%) responded that they would try to control their weights in the future. The regular exerciser was 22.9% in the attempters while the percentage of the counterparts was 11.9% (p<0.05). The use of internet or television watching was not significantly different by weight control status. Subjects scored 15.8 out of 20 on a nutritional knowledge scale, which showed a moderate level of knowledge. The nutritional knowledge score was 15.7 for the attempters and 15.8 for the counterparts. None of the nutritional knowledge items reached statistical significance, although the percentages of correct answers regarding weight control or balanced meals were slightly lower in the attempters. The attempters showed more favorable eating attitudes than the counterparts (p<0.001), especially in the attitudes of applying nutritional knowledge to daily life (p<0.01), attitudes for modifying diets (p<0.01) and importance of having adequate meals (p<0.01). The eating behavior was moderate, with mean scores of 31.1 (possible score: 15 - 45). Subjects showed problems in eating a variety of foods, eating meals regularly, eating slowly, eating breakfast and consumption of some food groups (e.g., dairy foods, fruits). The attempters consumed seaweeds more frequently than the counterparts (p<0.05). Although there were not many significant differences by weight control status, this study suggested that nutrition education for adolescent girls should be planned to provide nutrition information regarding desirable weight control as well as modifying diets and eating behaviors.

미소경 드릴링 머신의 시작과 감시에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development and the Monitoring of Micro Hole Drilling Machine)

  • Recently, the trends toward reduction in size and weight of industrial products increased the application of micro hole for manufacturing gadgets of high precision and gave rise to a great deal of interest for micro hole drilling M/C. Quite a few research work is performed on micro drilling on domestic basis compared with the tendency of analyzing cutting mechanism, adaptive control, monitoring of generally available drills of diameter greater than 1mm. This study adresses the design, manufacturing and controlling a micro hole drilling M/C with the overload detection instrument and the step feed mechanism. Controlling and monitoring of the drilling process are acomplished on PC basis for more user interfaces and effectiveness. The test machine of the results of this research shows a good foundation for extending further micro hole machining technique.

여고생의 아침식사와 라이프스타일, 외모 가꾸기 관심도 및 아침식사관련 태도의 관련성 (Association between breakfast and lifestyle, interest in beauty care, and attitude toward breakfast in high school girls in Incheon)

  • 본 연구는 아침결식률이 높은 청소년기 여고생을 대상으로 아침결식과 관련된 요인을 규명하고자 인천지역에 거주하는 여고생 581명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 아침식사 빈도에 따라 주 2회 이하 아침식사를 하는 대상자를 아침결식군 (250명, 43.0%), 주 3회 이상 아침 식사를 하는 대상자를 아침식사군 (331명, 57.0%)으로 분류하여 일반적 사항, 라이프스타일, 체중조절과 외모에 대한 관심도, 식행동, 아침결식의 원인 및 증상, 아침식사에 대한 태도를 비교 분석하였다. 연구대상자의 평균 연령은 16.5세였고, 아침결식군과 아침식사군의 평균 연령 및 학년의 분포는 유의적 차이가 없었다. 아침결식 여부와 용돈 간에는 유의적인 관련성이 제시되어 아침결식군이 한 달에 사용한 용돈이 10만원 이상인 비율 (36.4%)에서 아침식사군 (22.1%)에 비해 유의하게 높았다. 취침 시간의 분포는 아침결식군과 아침식사군 간에 유의적인 차이가 없었으나, 기상 시간은 아침결식군이 아침식사군에 비하여 6시 이전에 일어나는 비율이 낮았고, 7시 반 이후에 일어나는 비율이 유의적으로 높았다. 등교 전 가장 많은 시간을 소요하는 활동에는 아침결식군의 경우 화장 등 미용이 38.8%로 가장 높은 비율을 보였고, 아침식사군의 경우 아침식사가 42.6%로 가장 높아 두 군 간에 유의적 차이를 보였다. 체중조절 관심도와 외모 가꾸기에 대한 관심도는 유의적인 차이를 보이면서 두 항목 모두 아침결식군이 높았다. 오후 간식과 야식, 편의점 편의식, 가공음료는 아침결식군이 아침 식사군에 비하여 더 자주 먹는 것으로 나타난 반면, 저녁식사 섭취는 아침결식군이 아침식사군에 비하여 결식하는 비율이 높았다. 아침결식 이유로 아침결식군과 아침식사군 모두 시간이 없어서가 각각 72.3%, 74.1%로 가장 높았고, 군 간에 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 아침 결식군의 경우 아침결식시 나타나는 증상으로 학습과 관련된 부작용인 수업시간에 졸림, 기억력 감퇴와 같은 증상을 호소한 비율이 아침식사군에 비하여 높은 반면, 아침식사군의 경우는 기운이 없고, 배가 아프거나 속쓰림과 같은 신체 증상을 호소하는 비율이 높았다. 아침식사에 대한 태도는 아침결식군이 아침식사군에 비하여 아침식사가 학습, 기억력, 건강에 미치는 중요성에 대한 인식이 낮았다. 이상과 같이 여고생의 아침결식은 늦은 기상 시간, 외모를 가꾸기를 위한 미용, 다른 식사의 불규칙성 및 간식, 편의식, 가공음료 등의 섭취 증가, 아침식사에 대한 잘못된 태도와 관련되어 있었다. 특히 아침결식률이 높은 여고생들은 바쁜 아침시간에 화장과 같은 외모 가꾸기에 많은 시간을 소요하며, 아침식사의 섭취를 소홀히 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 여자 청소년들을 대상으로 아침식사가 학습능률 향상 및 균형적인 영양섭취를 통한 건강증진과 건강을 기반으로 한 신체적 아름다움까지 영향을 줄 수 있음을 인식시키고, 아침식사의 중요성에 대한 인식과 태도를 향상시켜 아침식사 섭취를 능동적으로 실천할 수 있도록 하는 영양교육이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

초등학교 고학년 대상 영양교육의 효과 평가 (Evaluation of a Nutrition Education Program for Elementary School Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to implement and evaluate the nutrition education program for elementary school children Subjects were 5th graders (n = 142) of an elementary school in Seoul, and 138 children completed four sessions of nutrition education during March-April, 2008. One group pretest-posttest design was used to evaluate the program effectiveness. Anthropometric measurements and measurements on nutrition knowledge, eating attitudes and eating behavior were done before and after education. Data were analyzed using paired t-test, t-test and ${\chi}^2-test$. After completing nutrition education, body mass index (from 19.3 to 18.9), fat mass (from 10.9 kg to 10.1 kg), percent body fat (from 25% to 23.3%) of subjects decreased significantly (p < 0.001). Percentages of overweight or obese children were 24.6% at pretest and decreased to 20.3% at posttest, although it did not reach statistical significance. Total score of nutrition knowledge increased significantly from 11.9 (59.5/100) at pretest to 14.7 (73.5/100) at posttest (p < 0.001). After nutrition education, percentages of correct answers increased significantly in 10 knowledge items out of 20 items. These included items such as desirable weight control, energy requirements for boys, food groups, snack, and function of fat and balanced meals (p < 0.001). Total score of eating attitudes increased significantly from 35.1 to 36.9 (p < 0.001). Attitude of applying nutrition knowledge to daily life (p < 0.001), interest toward nutrition and health (p < 0.001), attitude of moderating food intake (p < 0.01), and attitude toward eating habit and future health (p < 0.05) were significantly different between pretest and posttest. Total score of eating behaviors increased significantly from 46.7 (possible score: 20-60) to 49.5 by nutrition education (p < 0.001). Improvement in eight eating behaviors were noticed after nutrition education. These included eating meals slowly, eat protein foods (p < 0.001), eating breakfast, eating meals regularly, eating meals with diverse foods, having dairy foods, eating foods using plant oils (p < 0.01), and having grains (p < 0.05). Subjects evaluated quite positively in attractiveness of program, understanding of program contents, helpfulness of program in improving nutrition knowledge and meal management. Study results show that the nutrition education program was effective in improving nutrition knowledge, eating attitudes and changing eating behaviors of children. This program can be used in nutrition education of children at school or at public health centers.
