This study attempted to develop a beacon scanner based ward monitoring service in order to respond to the new paradigm of medical environment which is trying to introduce ICT technology as medical service to track and manage the spread path of large infectious diseases such as MERS. The study also included beacon hardware development, firmware development for the beacon low-power bluetooth 4.0, and server and web-based dashboard UI development. Using these, we have developed a customized monitoring system that provides functions such as locating patients by location based service and monitoring based on web UI. It is possible to maximize the efficiency of offline hospital services and to value active infection control and patient safety by integrating online technology into the area where online technologies such as beacons are not properly integrated.
In analyzing the issues of ecotourism, collecting opinions of local residents and participants is an essential process because ecotourism needs to keep ecological sensitivity and respect local residents' ecological lives. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the local participants' attitude in resident-oriented ecotourism. Maha ecotourism site, as a study site, is located in Pyeongchang-gun, one of the twelve ecotourism sites designated by the Ministry of Environment. This site has drawn attention since the local government of Pyeongchang-gun transferred its management right on Maha ecotourism sit to the organization of local residents in 2013. This study uses Q methodology which is the most popular research method in analyzing people's subjectivity, that is, viewpoint and attitude. This study have found that there are four features in the subjectivities of participants toward ecotourism site: first group is the people who want more autonomous management right of local residents on Maha ecotourism site. Second group is the people who only want to stand by the ecotourism management. Third group is the people who focus on the migration of talented persons into their neighborhood owing to the program. Lastly, fourth group is the people who focus on the quality of the ecotourism program. In case of the second group, though they have negative opinions of the program, they have much interest in successful cases in other countries managed similar programs with Maha ecotourism. It would be effective for the group to have opportunities to experience successful ecotourism cases in other countries. On top of it, having seminars regarding ecotourism or holding community councils frequently would be very helpful for encouraging the second group of people to join in the ecotourism program actively like other groups of people. Supplying more manpower and developing various programs are also necessary in order to support other three groups.
The energy problem has occurred because of the effects of rising temperature and growing population and GDP. Prediction for the energy demand is required to respond these problems. Therefore, this study will predict heating and cooling energy consumption in residential sector to be helpful in energy demand management, particularly heating and cooling energy demand management. The AIM/end-use model was used to estimate energy consumption, and service demand was needed in the AIM/end-use model. Service demand was estimated on the basis of formula, and energy consumption was estimated using the AIM/end-use model. As a result, heating and cooling service demand tended to increase in 2050. But in energy consumption, heating decreased and cooling increased.

A treatment for improving the characteristics of a surface is very important in increasing the life of machine parts. Many studies have been carried out on the surface characteristics after such treatments. For enhanced eco-technology, an alternative to a conventional chemical surface treatment process is essential. Ultrasonic nano-crystal surface modification (UNSM) technology is a physical environmentally friendly surface treatment method. This technology was developed in domestic and currently being used. As the mechanism of UNSM technology, a ball tip attached to an ultrasonic vibration device strikes the metal surface at nearly 20,000 times per second. The resulting modified surface layer improves the surface characteristics. This paper describes a self-developed fast tool servo system applied to the UNSM process as a vibration module within a high-frequency bandwidth. After describing the surface modification process based on the material and process changes, the surface characteristics are compared.
Goats (Capra hircus) are one of the oldest species of domesticated animals. Native Korean goats are a particularly interesting group, as they are indigenous to the area and were raised in the Korean peninsula almost 2,000 years ago. Although they have a small body size and produce low volumes of milk and meat, they are quite resistant to lumbar paralysis. Our study aimed to reveal the distinct genetic features and patterns of selection in native Korean goats by comparing the genomes of native Korean goat and crossbred goat populations. We sequenced the whole genome of 15 native Korean goats and 11 crossbred goats using next-generation sequencing (Illumina platform) to compare the genomes of the two populations. We found decreased nucleotide diversity in the native Korean goats compared to the crossbred goats. Genetic structural analysis demonstrated that the native Korean goat and cross-bred goat populations shared a common ancestry, but were clearly distinct. Finally, to reveal the native Korean goat's selective sweep region, selective sweep signals were identified in the native Korean goat genome using cross-population extended haplotype homozygosity (XP-EHH) and a cross-population composite likelihood ratio test (XP-CLR). As a result, we were able to identify candidate genes for recent selection, such as the CCR3 gene, which is related to lumbar paralysis resistance. Combined with future studies and recent goat genome information, this study will contribute to a thorough understanding of the native Korean goat genome.
Effects of natural plant extracts on kochujang and it's sensory evaluation were investigated. Natural plant extracts was added to the general kochujang and then investigated the changes of free amino acids composition after fermentation at $30^{\circ}C$ for 60 days. The content of glutamic acid among the free amino acids was highest, and those of aspartic acid, proline, valine, histidine were also presented higher than the general kochujang, Sensory properties of natural plant extract-added kochujang were unchanged in color, hot taste, salty taste but, properties presented better in flavor, savory taste, sweet taste, overall preperence. Therefore, we may conclude that kochujang added natural plant extracts was more acceptable than general kochujang.

This study proposes an approach for simulating high spatial resolution satellite images acquired under arbitrary sun-sensor geometry using existing images and 3D (three-dimensional) data. First, satellite images, having significant differences in spectral regions compared with those in the simulated image were transformed to the same spectral regions as those in simulated image by using the UPDM (Universal Pattern Decomposition Method). Simultaneously, shadows cast by buildings or high features under the new sun position were modeled. Then, pixels that changed from shadow into non-shadow areas and vice versa were simulated on the basis of existing images. Finally, buildings that were viewed under the new sensor position were modeled on the basis of open library-based 3D reconstruction program. An experiment was conducted to simulate WV-3 (WorldView-3) images acquired under two different sun-sensor geometries based on a Pleiades 1A image, an additional WV-3 image, a Landsat image, and 3D building models. The results show that the shapes of the buildings were modeled effectively, although some problems were noted in the simulation of pixels changing from shadows cast by buildings into non-shadow. Additionally, the mean reflectance of the simulated image was quite similar to that of actual images in vegetation and water areas. However, significant gaps between the mean reflectance of simulated and actual images in soil and road areas were noted, which could be attributed to differences in the moisture content.
This paper describes a new test rig for identification of rotordynamic force coefficients of squeeze film dampers (SFDs) in automotive turbochargers (TCs). Prior studies have mainly concentrated on relatively large-sized SFDs used in aircraft engines, turbocompressors, and turbopumps. The main objective of the current study is to propose a test rig for identification of dynamic force coefficients of small-sized SFDs (a journal diameter of ~11 mm). The current test rig consists of a journal, a SFD cartridge, four support rods, an upper structure, a data acquisition (DAQ) system, and an oil circulation unit. The annular gaps between the journal outer surface and SFD cartridge inner surface create SFD film lands. The damper has two parallel film lands separated by a central groove, having an axial length and depth of 3 mm. Each film land has a length of 4 mm with a $40{\mu}m$ radial clearance. The static load and dynamic impact tests identify the structural characteristics (i.e., stiffness and natural frequency) of the journal and assembled test rig. The measurements show good agreement with predictions. The SFD performance data from this test rig will be used to develop innovative TC rotor systems with improved NVH and reliability characteristics incorporating advanced SFD technology.
In order to shed some light on the historical change of biodiversity concepts, this paper reviews the science and technology studies (STS) literature on the history of biological research on human genetic diversity. By doing that, I show how the notion of genetic diversity in the human population - from "race" to "population" to "biogeographical ancestry" - has changed with methodologies and techniques over the last hundred years. In the meantime, I point out contexts and situations, despite conceptual and methodological developments, that show that current human genetic diversity research is slipping into the past mistakes of scientific racism. This article offers biodiversity researchers an opportunity to consider their own scientific practices on classifying species more reflectively.
This study analyzed trends and contents of ancestral ritual foods of Korean traditional Jong-ga as a domestic thesis. In searching the keywords related to ancestral ritual foods using a thesis search site, a total of 15 theses in seven journals were selected for analysis. Three theses from 1996 to 1999, six theses from 2005 to 2008, and another six theses from 2012 to 2016 were announced. In measuring frequency by dividing case families analyzed in the thesis into region, there were 83 families, including seven families from Gyeonggi (8.4%), seven families from Chungcheong (8.4%), two families from Honam (2.4%), and 67 families from Yeongnam (80.8%). Fifty-four families out of 67 families from Yeongnam were located in Andong-si, occupying 65.1% of the 83 families. The family showing the highest frequency was 'Seoae Jong-ga' (12 times). The family clan with the highest frequency was eight families of the 'Jinseong Lee clan' In the future, it would be necessary to understand the research flow through analysis of research trends in ancestral ritual foods of Jong-ga as well as interdisciplinary research and methodological diversification of studies on ancestral ritual foods of Jong-ga.
