  • Recent works in the area of multimedia studies focus on a wide range of issues from the impact of multimedia on culture to its impact on economics and anything in between. The interconnectedness of the issues raised by this new practice is complicated by the fact that media are rapidly converging: in a very real way, multimedia is becoming a media prism that reflects the way in which media continually influence each other across disciplines and cultural borders. Thus, the impact of multimedia reflects a complicated crossroads where media, human experience, culture and technology converge. An effective design is generally based on shaping aesthetics for function and utility, with an emphasis on ease of use. However, in designing for cyberspace, it is possible to create narratives that challenge the interactor by encoding in the design an instructional aspect that teaches new approaches and forms. Such a design offers an equally aesthetic experience for the interactor as they explore the meaning of the work. This design approach has been used constructively in many applications. The crucial concern is to determine how little or how much information must be presented for the interactor to achieve a suitable level of cognition. This is always a balancing act: too much difficulty will result in interactor frustration and the abandonment of the activity and too little will result in boredom leading to the same negative result In addition, it can be anticipated that the interactor will bring her or his own level of experiential cognition and/or accretion, to the experience providing reflective cognition and/or restructure the learning curve. If the design of the application is outside their present experience, interactors will begin with established knowledge in order to explore the new work. Thus, it may be argued that the interactor explores, learns and cognates simultaneously based on primary experiential cognition. Learning is one of the most important keys to establishing a comfort level in a new media work. Once interactors have learned a new convention, they apply this cognitive knowledge to other new media experiences they may have. Pierre Levy would describe this process as a "new nomadism" that creates "an invisible space of understanding, knowledge, and intellectual power, within which new qualities of being and new ways of fashioning a society will flourish and mutate" (Levy xxv 1997). Thus, navigation itself of offers the interactors the opportunity to both apply and loam new cognitive skills. This suggests that new media narrative strategies are still in the process of developing unique conventions and, as a result, have not reached a level of coherent grammar. This paper intends to explore the cognitive aspects of new media design and in particular, will explore issues related to the design of new media interfaces. The paper will focus on the creation of narrative strategies that engage interactors through loaming curves thus enhancing interactivity.vity.

Carboxypeptidase E, Identified As a Direct Interactor of Growth Hormone, Is Important for Efficient Secretion of the Hormone

  • We have identified 88 interactor candidates for human growth hormone (GH) by the yeast two-hybrid assay. Among those, we focused our efforts on carboxypeptidase E (CPE), which has been thought to play a key role in sorting prohormones, such as pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC), to regulated secretory vesicles. We found that CPE colocalizes with and interacts with GH in AtT20 pituitary cells. Downregulation of CPE led to decreased levels of GH secretion, consistent with involvement of CPE in GH sorting/secretion. Our binding assay in vitro with bacterially expressed proteins suggested that GH directly interacts with CPE but in a manner different from POMC.

  • 본논문은 행렬비로 기미되는 다입.출력 연속시간 시스템에 대한 기준 모델형 적응제어에 관하여 고찰한다. 제어기는 monopoli - Narendra type 으로서 파라메타 적응칙에 시변리득행렬을 도입하였으며 가조정 제어기를 포함한 플랜트의 전달함수 행렬이 기준모델의 그것에 점차 따라가도록 한다. interactor 행렬에 대한 지식을 비롯한 약간의 가정하에서 단일 입.출력 시스템의 경우의 알고리즘이 적절하게 적용될 수 있음을 보인다. 적응칙의 수렴성은 안정도 이론을 이용하여 증명하며 전체 시스템의 안정성은 해석적인 고찰에 의해 보여 준다.

  • 최근 전자상거래가 급증하면서 택배시장이 급속히 성장하고 있다. 전자상거래를 통하여 거래가 이루어진 상품은 택배서비스를 통해 소비자에게 배송되고 있기 때문에 전자상거래를 통한 택배물량은 향후 지속적으로 증가할 것으로 예상되고 있다. 실제 전자상거래 업체들은 자체적인 택배시스템을 갖추지 않고 아웃소싱 형태로 전문 택배업체들에게 상품 운송을 전담시키고 있으며, 고객들도 욕구가 다양해져 자신이 원하는 장소까지 빠른 시간에 정확히 운송되는 택배를 선호하고 있다. 이와 함께, 택배업체들도 전화 뿐만 아니라 인터넷을 통해 주문요청을 받고 있어 택배수요를 더욱 촉진시키고 있다. 그러나 택배수요에 대한 증가에도 불구하고 상품 배달비용이 전체 구매가격에서 차지하는 비중이 상대적으로 높기 때문에 전자상거래를 통한 소액상품의 경우에 물류비 부담이 상당히 높아지고 있으며, 상품 판매 후 최종 소비자에게 전달되는 과정에서 상품의 안전성, 배송의 신속성 등의 미흡으로 대고객 서비스가 상당히 취약한 실정이다. 즉, 급증하는 전자상거래 물품 운송을 택배시스템의 하부구조가 제대로 지원하고있지 못하다는 지적이 나오고 있으며, 택배서비스에 대한 고객들의 욕구도 제대로 충족시키지 못하고있는 상황에 있다. 반면 일본의 야마토운수(주)와 같은 택배업체들은 고객의 욕구를 충족시키기 위하여 터미널이나 집배차량과 같은 하부시설과 화물추적정보시스템 부문에 과감한 투자를 하고 있고, B2B 또는 B2C 화물 접하 서비스, 인터넷을 통한 화물추적 등을 위안 새로운 택배서비스를 개발하여 고객의 욕구를 충족시키고 있을 뿐만 아니라 전자상거래의 활성화에도 기여하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전자상거래시대 택배업의 일반적 개관을 살펴보고, 선진외국의 택배업 사례분석 및 시사점을 도출하여, 이를 바탕으로 국내 택배업의 경쟁력 향상 방안을 제시하여 보고자 한다.orms. Design of CCV adaptive flight control system under microburst type disturbances

  • In this paper we deal with a design of CCV adaptive flight control system having adaptive observer under the mircroburst circumstances. First, based on the observerbility indices of the controlled system, which is a general multi-variable one, the adaptive observer is constructed, and the unknown interactor matrix can be estimated by using the identified parameters. Next, CCV adaptive flight control law is calculated based upon the estimated ones. Finally, the proposed CCV adaptive flight controller is applied to STOL flying boat and numerical simulations under the microburst circumstances can be show to justify the proposed scheme.

  • Until now various model matching systems have been proposed for linear system, but very little has been done for nonlinear system In this paper, a design method of discrete time flight control system using nonlinear model matching is proposed. This method is based on Hirschorn's algorithm and facilitates easy determination of the control law using the relationship, between the output and the input, which is obtained by the time shift of the output. Also as a result, this method is the extension of the linear model matching control system proposed by Wolovich, in which the control law is obtained by left-multiplying the output by the interactor matrix. At the end of paper, the proposed control system is applied to CCV flight control system of an aircraft and the feasibility of the proposed approach is shown by the numerical simulations.

NMR and Fluorescence Studies of DNA Binding Domain of INI1/hSNF5

  • INtegrase Interactor 1 protein (INI1/hSNF5) or BRG1-associated factor 47 (BAF47) is a SWI/SNF-related matrix associated actin dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily B member. DNA binding domain of INI1/hSNF5 is cloned into E.coli expression vectors, pET32a and purified as a monomer using size exclusion chromatography. NMR data show that $INI1^{DBD}$ has folded state with high population of ${\alpha}$-helices. By fluorescence-quenching experiments, binding affinities between $INI1^{DBD}$ and two double stranded DNA fragments were determined as $29.9{\pm}2.6{\mu}M$ (GAL4_1) and $258.7{\pm}5.8$ (GAL4_2) ${\mu}M$, respectively. Our data revealed that DNA binding domain of INI1/hSNF5 binds to transcriptional DNA sequences, and it could play an important role as a transcriptional regulator.

A Genome-wide Scan for Selective Sweeps in Racing Horses

  • Using next-generation sequencing, we conducted a genome-wide scan of selective sweeps associated with selection toward genetic improvement in Thoroughbreds. We investigated potential phenotypic consequence of putative candidate loci by candidate gene association mapping for the finishing time in 240 Thoroughbred horses. We found a significant association with the trait for Ral GApase alpha 2 (RALGAP2) that regulates a variety of cellular processes of signal trafficking. Neighboring genes around RALGAP2 included insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1), pallid (PLDN), and Ras and Rab interactor 2 (RIN2) genes have similar roles in signal trafficking, suggesting that a co-evolving gene cluster located on the chromosome 22 is under strong artificial selection in racehorses.

An Intrarenal Adrenocortical Carcinoma Arising in an Adrenal Rest

  • We describe a case of a 61-year-old Korean man who was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma that was discovered on abdominopelvic computed tomography obtained after the patient complained of back pain. A radical nephrectomy was performed, and the surgical specimen showed a relatively well-circumscribed and yellowish lobulated hard mass. Microscopically, the tumor showed sheets and nests of hypercellular pleomorphic cells with thick fibrous septation, frequent mitoses, and areas of adrenal cortical-like tissue. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that the tumor cells were positive for inhibin-${\alpha}$, vimentin, synaptophysin, and melan A. It also revealed that the tumor cells were negative for pan-cytokeratin, epithelial membrane antigen, paired box 8, ${\alpha}$-methylacyl-coenzyme A racemase, CD10, cytokeratin 7, carbonic anhydrase 9, c-Kit, renal cell carcinoma, transcription factor E3, human melanoma black 45, desmin, smooth muscle actin, S-100, chromogranin A, CD34, anaplastic lymphoma kinase, and integrase interactor 1. Based on these histopathological and immunohistochemical findings, we diagnosed the tumor as intrarenal adrenocortical carcinoma arising in an adrenal rest. Several cases of intrarenal adrenocortical carcinoma have been reported, although they are very rare. Due to its poor prognosis and common recurrence or metastasis, clinicians and pathologists must be aware of this entity.
