  • Recent advances in Internet-of-Things and wearable computing have established computationally sufficient infrastructure to remove the barriers of physical locations. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the use of remote collaboration, work-from-home, teleconferencing, online education, digital twin, and metaverse enriched with various configurations of augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, and extended reality. Beyond specialized niche wearable applications in the medical and entertainment domains, we aim to identify the underlying characteristics of smartglass-enabled killer applications for everyday use. In this paper, we analyze intermediary roles in remote collaboration consisting of authoritative supervisors, synergetic collaborators, and speculative explorers. We also propose technical components for smartglass-assisted interactive remote collaboration composed of personal tracking, teleconference, and interaction components. More specifically, the application tasks of each intermediary role and objectives of three functional components are defined and elaborated.

  • This study aimed to examine an augmented reality-based teaching simulation in a mobile application. We examined how AR-enabled interactions affect users' perceived scenario usefulness and avatar realism. The participants were forty-six undergraduate students. We randomly grouped them into two conditions: AR and Non-interactive video groups with equal sample sizes. This study employed an experimental design approach with a one-way multivariate analysis of variance with repeated measures. The independent variable is the presence/absence of AR interaction with a mobile application. The dependent variables were avatar realism and scenario usefulness. The measures explored how the student avatar's emotional intensity in a scenario influences user perception. The results showed that participants in the AR-interaction group perceived avatar realism significantly higher than those in the non-interactive video group. Also, participants perceived the high emotional intensity scenario (aggression toward peers) to be significantly higher usefulness than the low emotional intensity scenario (classroom disruption).

  • Recently, many interactive artworks produce through convergence of art and scientific technology. Artists or designers should cooperate with other areas for analysis in order to share database. According to these requirements, In this study, we analyze Kandinsky's works which are more emphasis on subject area than the emphasis to background area by using a number of colors, faces, and brightness levels. Due to this approach, it determines how to represent for stable screen composition attracting viewer's eyes. As a result, the subject area has more a number of colors, faces, and brightness levels than the background area. In addition, we produce the interactive artwork based on the analyzed data. According to the requirement of convergence and collaboration in the historical background, this study will be able to contribute to make the collaboration by sharing common information between artists and professionals in other areas. In addition, it is expected that other production makers who do not have the background of arts education will be able to configure the visual screen.

  • Tabletop display can take the benefits of the interactive device due to its possible user friendly input and display facilities simultaneously. Using this device, immersive edutainment content is effectively implemented with the convenient interactive interface. So considering this usefulness, tabletop display can be a very efficient device for constructing the edutainment system. In this paper, we describe a digitalized cooking edutainment contents based on the tabletop display interface. Enjoying our contents, we use the intuitive touch gestures for handling a variety of cooking actions. In the education effects such as the immersive strengthening and co-operation, the proposed system is more efficient interface than any other existing system. We implement the contents with the tabletop display and make sure about the efficiency of our proposed system. In the future, we will add more gestures to enhance the applicability of the intuitive interactive interface.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the interactive patterns between teacher and students in middle school earthh science classroom, identify difference of discourse types between earthh science classes taught by majored and non-majored teacher, find the relationship between the discourse pattern and the type of teachers' questions. For that purpose, the participants in this study included four teachers and their students of three middle schools in Seoul. The data consisted of two parts. First, we categorized interaction between teacher and students into the types of discourses by the use of Mortimer and Scott's analytical framework(2003). Second, we classified teachers' questions into four different types of question based on MNeill & Pimentel's classification scheme(2009) to examine for the relationship between the discourse pattern and the type of teachers' questions. As a result, all teachers used interactive/authoritative discourse most in middle school earth science class. Therefore, there was more authoritative discourse to non-majored teacher in comparison with majored teacher. And study demonstrated that the discourse pattern was more related to feedback about student's response rather than the type of teachers' question. In other words, the dialogic discourse showed up more frequently when the teacher used delayed feedback with positive and accepting attitude.

  • This study aimed at understanding the characteristics of interactive discourses between docents and visitors in natural history museums. Two docents participated in this study. One worked in Seodaemoon Natural History Museum and the other in Gwacheon National Science Museum. To analyze the characteristics of interactive discourses, especially understanding the mediation of visitors' learning, Pedagogic Discourse Analysis method was adopted. The results show two contrasting types of interactive discourses, Encouraging Visitors' Meaningful Participation (EVMP) and Encouraging Visitors' Simple Participation (EVSP). In the EVMP discourse, structural cohesion is strong in thematic flow and information flow. Docent and visitors share the role of information provider and "Themes" are developed through the interactions between the docent and the visitors. On the contrary, in the EVSP discourse, structural cohesions are weak. Even though the visitors participate in the discourse, their discourse scarcely contribute to develop "Themes" in the discourse. Most of the information is developed and expanded by the docent. These results helped us to suggest that docents have to understand and use visitors' prior knowledge as a discourse "Theme." It is also suggested that docents need to have not only the competent content knowledge about exhibitions but also the capability to lead discourses that allow the visitors to participate meaningfully during the education processes.

  • A class is a complex and interactive process between a teacher and students. This paper describes a software design and implementation of the tool easily to analyze and quantize teaching ability. Our proposed software is implemented based on Flanders linguistic method. The software can easily represent the linguistic analysis results by abstracted graphic drawings. We carry out the performance test of our implemented software targeting incumbent teachers. In the experimental, we could demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of our implemented software.

  • We have implemented an interactive multimedia education system for C programming. The system consists of two pars. One is multimedia contents to help students better understand C language syntax, programming style, and program logic and the other is a web-based compilation support system that compiles C programs at the server side which are submitted trough Web by students and returns their execution results to the students' PC. Although there are currently some restrictions that students should replace the inputs functions such as scanf(), getc() and getch() with assignment statements or fscanf(fp, , ), since the system has been implemented using general web technologies and shareware C compiler, the education system could be one solution that education institutions seek to reduce annual immense expenditure of money on C complier.

  • This study proposes an approach to Product Data Management (PDM) education for collaborative product data management, which can support collaborative product development process. This approach introduces social media and a PDM system into a framework for PDM education supported by consistent product development process and product data model. It has been applied to two PDM classes and the result shows that the social media in PDM education can support not only experiences of the collaborative product data management but also interactive and informal communications among instructors and participants using integrated social media with product data during courses.
