  • According to previous studies, the effect of intrinsic motivation related variables such as cognitive absorption (CA) on the use of information technology(IT) should be mediated by the conscious intention. However, CA, which is a thought of previous emotional experience, a deep involvement with a software, may be one of environmental cues stimulating the use of IT independently of conscious intention. The objective of this study is to show the direct effect of CA on the automatic use of IT. For this purpose, as well as the relation between CA and use, two relations, CA-intention and intention-use, were also suggested as hypotheses, which will show that conscious intention would not fully mediate the relation between CA and automatic use. Moreover, for seeing the effects of CA as time passes, the proximal effect, which is short term and transitory effect, and the distal effect, which is long term and lingering, were simultaneously included in hyptheses. Finally, the effect of past use was also suggested as a hypothesis which aimed to show that automatic use would be controlled mostly by habit rather than not only intention but also CA. For the empirical validation of the hypotheses, 174 users of 'Cyworld', one of most influential social network services, were longitudinally surveyed, which showed that the hypotheses were accepted.

  • The speed and magnitude of mobile phone adoption is a recent worldwide phenomenon akin to those of the television in the middle of the 20th century and the Internet in the late 20th century. During the 2000s, mobile phone adoption was exploded and subscriptions reached 3 billion around the globe. Korea and Japan have been ahead of the rest of the world in introducing new handset and service capabilities. They were the first markets to launch 3G services and are currently the only markets to have achieved mainstream adoption of 3G with over one-third of customers in both markets subscribing to 3G services. The purpose of this article is to explore the cultural similarities and differences associated with mobile mail by presenting findings from a cross-cultural comparison of perceptions and uses of the technology. The results of the study are as follows:Of the characteristics that make up the mobile text-messaging service in Korea, a person's perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use attitude. Among the characteristics that make up a person's perceived ease of use, perceived enjoyment was found to have a positive effect on use intention. And use attitude was found to have positive effects on use intention. • This study examined the factors influencing the intention to use smartwatches using the integrated model of technology acceptance model (TAM) and innovation diffusion theory (IDT). An online survey was conducted and the data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling (SEM). The results showed that the research model had an acceptable fit, and all paths, except for the one from the perceived ease of use to the intention to use, were supported. Regarding paths from IDT to TAM, it was observed that higher the compatibility, the users perceived greater usefulness. Additionally, both observability and trialability influenced the perceived ease of use. However, perceived ease of use affected the intention only through the mediated effect of perceived usefulness. The implication of the study lies on the major focus on the effects of users' perceptions regarding innovative characteristics of smartwatches on the intention to adopt and attempted to increase the explanatory power of the TAM and IDT by combining both.

  • Smart healthcare, combining ICT (Information and Communications Technologies) and medical technologies, has been rapidly emerging. Accordingly, its market has also increased as interest in disease prevention, management, and diagnosis grows due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, using mobile devices to support medical activities, mobile healthcare has been attracting attention as a leading service in the smart healthcare market. However, the intention to use mobile healthcare apps may vary depending on individual beliefs and attitudes. Many studies on the intention to use mobile healthcare apps have used the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), but there is a lack of studies that have been verified from the perspective of users' health beliefs. This study aims to identify the factors that affect the intention to use mobile healthcare apps based on the HBM (Health Belief Model). Furthermore, it investigates how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the user's mHealth literacy, the ability to find and understand health information through mobile. This study contributes to the empirical examination of the intention to use mobile healthcare apps through the HBM. It also offers insights for app providers and public health officials to increase the use of mobile healthcare apps.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was verifying factors that affect to intention to use AI financial services and finding a way of building an user oriented AI ecology. Methods: This study used the UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) model with independent variables such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, trust, personal innovativeness and AI understanding as moderating variable. The data was collected through online & offline survey with questionnaire from 330 financial customers. Results: As a result, the analysis suggested that the performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, personal innovativeness are statistically significant to the intention to use AI. It was also found that AI knowledge of users differently influence the intention to use through the moderating effect on the facilitating conditions. Conclusion: Performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, personal innovativeness have positive causation to the intention to use in AI financial service. On the facilitating conditions, unlike other variables, it was found that the user's intention to use was different by the level of AI understanding. It means that customers could have the strong intention to use AI even though they don't have enough pieces of knowledge on the factors. Customers seem to be of recognition that the technology has certain benefits for themselves. The facilitating factors are significantly affected by AI understanding and differently effect on the intention to use AI.

  • This study investigates the attitude and intention of consumers to use customized golf gloves depending on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). TAM consists of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. To conduct the quantitative research, we collected data from 182 consumers. SPSS 14.0 was used for statistical analysis. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test and path analysis were implemented. The results of this study are as follows. First, the subjects were divided into two groups with one group higher in purchase intention. The difference between the two groups was significant. The higher purchase intention group was higher in the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and positive attitude toward customized golf gloves than the lower purchase intention group. In the lower group, the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influenced the intention to use through the attitudes of consumers. On the other hand, in the higher group, the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influenced the intention to use directly as well as through the attitude of consumers. Therefore, a different marketing strategy must be designed according to purchase intention in marketing innovative products.

  • The object of this article is to assess the factors affecting the behavioral intention of young retail customers to use digital banking services in Vietnam. In this article, multivariate data analysis techniques including Cronbach's Alpha, Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Structure equation model (SEM), and Bootstrapping are used to analyze the data collected from 525 young respondents under the age of 35 who are using or having opportunities to experience digital banking services. The people taking part in the survey were mainly University students with incomes of most of them under VND 5 million. The result from the analysis illustrates that (1) perceived ease of use positively affects intention to use, (2) social influence positively impacts intention to use, and (3) customer support has a positive impact on the intention of young people to use digital banking services. While technology self-efficacy, convenience, and perceived security were found to have an impact on intention to use services in former studies, the influences of these factors on intention to use digital banking services are found insignificant in this research. From these results, the author provides implications for commercial banks to increase the intention to use digital banking of young people in Vietnam.
