  • As increasing gastrointestinal pathologies, general and thoracic surgeries using circular staplers have been dramatically increased. Because of convenience for surgical procedure, recently, various circular staplers for anastomosis have been used widely. Since the circular staplers conventional have used the displacement control method, however, the anastomosis could have various biomechanical conditions. To do that, biomechanical system of gastrointestinal soft tissue should be examined to control the anastomotic condition. In this study, a new intelligent robot used in circular anastomosis. The intelligent robot driven by a stepper motor and controlled by a digital signal processor.

  • Intelligent Space (iSpace) is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment comes to have intelligence. In iSpace, the locations of multiple humans and other objects are obtained and tracked by using multiple camera and color-based method. In addition, we describe a context-aware information system which is based on Spatial-Knowledge-Tags (SKT). SKT system enables humans to access information and data by using spatial location of human and stored information in storage. The proposed tracking method is applied to the intelligent environment and its performance is verified by the experiments.

  • In this paper, the informative space is proposed to implant ubiquitous functions into physical spaces. We merge physical and virtual spaces through the space structurization using an RFID system, and solve the space localization and mapping problem for a robot to navigate through the distribution and synthesis of information and knowledge. To distribute knowledge flexibly and reliably to changing environment and also to develop a system which allows a robot to invoke and merge the distributed knowledge more freely, we employ a novel approach of knowledge management based on Web services. The proposed method is verified by building a physical space with two kinds of RFID tags and a virtual space with knowledge database based on Web services.

  • The controllability and stability of power systems can be increased by Flexible AC Transmission Devices (FACTs). One of the FACTs devices is Interline Power-Flow Controller (IPFC) by which the voltage stability, dynamic stability and transient stability of power systems can be improved. In the present paper, the convenient operation and control of IPFC for transient stability improvement are considered. Considering that the system's Lyapunov energy function is a relevant tool to study the stability affair. IPFC energy function optimization has been used in order to access the maximum of transient stability margin. In order to control IPFC, a Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) and PI controller have been used. The utilization of the new controller is based on the emotion-processing mechanism in the brain and is essentially an action selection, which is based on sensory inputs and emotional cues. This intelligent control is based on the limbic system of the mammalian brain. Simulation confirms the ability of BELBIC controller compared with conventional PI controller. The designing results have been studied by the simulation of a single-machine system with infinite bus (SMIB) and another standard 9-buses system (Anderson and Fouad, 1977).

Optimal Vibration Control of Vehicle Engine-Body System using Haar Functions

  • In this note a method of designing optimal vibration control based on Haar functions to control of bounce and pitch vibrations in engine-body vibration structure is presented. Utilizing properties of Haar functions, a computational method to find optimal vibration control for the engine-body system is developed. It is shown that the optimal state trajectories and optimal vibration control are calculated approximately by solving only algebraic equations instead of solving the Riccati differential equation. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique.

  • Optimization system for convergence point control is required for train control system, this paper introduces the way of enhanced optimization for convergence point with data of intelligence full prediction system. Also the result of the intelligence full prediction system is useful for train control system at the convergence point and passenger will take more accurate information from the prediction system.

  • The fluid system such as, the quantity control of raw water, chemicals control in the purification, the waste water system as well as in the feed water or circulation system of the power plant and the ventilation system is controlled with the valve and moter pump. The system's performance and the energy saving of the fluid systems depend on control of method and delicacy. Until, PI controller use in these system but it cannot control delicately because of the coupling in the system loop. In this paper we configure a single flow system to the multi variable system and suggest the application of 2-DOF PID controller and the tuning methods by the neural network to the electrical power of the flow control system. the 2-DOF controller follows to a setpoint has a robustness against the disturbance in the results of simulation.   • The Intelligent Cruise Control system, ICC, is a driver assisting system for controlling relative speed and distance between two vehicles in the same lane. The ICC may be considered as an extension of a traditional cruise control, not only keeping a fixed speed of the vehicle, but correcting the speed also to that of a slower one ahead. This paper presents a real-time self-tuning fuzzy control algorithm to develop ICC. The self-tuning fuzzy control law is adopted to reduce the effects of nonlinearities of the vehicle and various road environments. In the self-tuning algorithm an interior penalty method is applied to preserve the inherent order of membership functions and is modified as an on-line algorithm for real time application. Via simulations, the performance of the suggested control algorithm is compared with a PID and a fuzzy control without self-tuning. The suggested control algorithm is implemented on PRV III and the results of the test driving on a local road are given.

  • User interface of intelligent home must control and manage information appliances connected to the home network. But there are properties that users are inconvenient and confused using user interface of intelligent home by reason of many appliances, different control way according to types of ones, and so on. This Paper proposes the new method taking the level of convenience up and the level of complexity down which is out of many obstacles to expand intelligent home system, and implements this. The proposed interface is designed and implemented that user could model cyber space on a living space of user, and arrange home appliances on cyber space as like doing real living space and control intelligent home system. It is possible for user to read the state and location of home appliance in home, and to select and control the information appliance as using the proposed interface.

Image Retrieval Method Based on IPDSH and SRIP

  • At present, the Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system has become a hot research topic in the computer vision field. In the CBIR system, the accurate extractions of low-level features can reduce the gaps between high-level semantics and improve retrieval precision. This paper puts forward a new retrieval method aiming at the problems of high computational complexities and low precision of global feature extraction algorithms. The establishment of the new retrieval method is on the basis of the SIFT and Harris (APISH) algorithm, and the salient region of interest points (SRIP) algorithm to satisfy users' interests in the specific targets of images. In the first place, by using the IPDSH and SRIP algorithms, we tested stable interest points and found salient regions. The interest points in the salient region were named as salient interest points. Secondary, we extracted the pseudo-Zernike moments of the salient interest points' neighborhood as the feature vectors. Finally, we calculated the similarities between query and database images. Finally, We conducted this experiment based on the Caltech-101 database. By studying the experiment, the results have shown that this new retrieval method can decrease the interference of unstable interest points in the regions of non-interests and improve the ratios of accuracy and recall.
