  • This study was carried out to investigate the benthic polychaetous community and benthic ecosystem quality status on the adjacent continental shelf of Jeju Island, and field surveys were conducted at 31 stations in July and August, 2020. The surface sediment was generally composed of muddy sand facies and sandy mud facies, and the average particle size was medium silt (6.1±1.6∅). The benthic polychaetous community revealed a total of 73 species with a mean density of 242 ind./m2. The major dominant species were Notomastus latericeus, Ampharete arctica and Onuphis shirikishinaiensis. By the cluster analysis and nMDS results based on species composition of the benthic polychaetous community, the study area was divided into three station groups arranged from east to west by the water depth and sedimentary facies. The station group located in the west was subdivided into two station groups from south to north. From results of correlation analysis and PCA, it was found that the benthic polychaetous community in the study area had a strong correlation with the sedimentary environment and water depth. The benthic faunal community (or ecosystem) on the adjacent continental shelf of Jeju Island was assessed to be in a healthy state by biotic indices such as AMBI and BPI.

  • Since big data platform services for the public library began January 1, 2016, libraries have used big data to improve their work performance. This paper aims to examine the use cases of library big data and attempts to draw improvement plan to improve the effectiveness of library big data. For this purpose, first, we examine big data used while utilizing the library big data platform, the usage pattern of big data and services/policies drawn by big data analysis. Next, the limitations and advantages of the library big data platform are examined by comparing the data analysis of the integrated library management system (ILUS) currently used in public libraries and data analysis through the library big data platform. As a result of case analysis, big data usage patterns were found program planning and execution, collection, collection, and other types, and services/policies were summarized as customizing bookshelf themes for the book curation and reading promotion program, increasing collection utilization, and building a collection based on special topics. and disclosure of loan status data. As a result of the comparative analysis, ILUS is specialized in statistical analysis of library collection unit, and the big data platform enables selective and flexible analysis according to various attributes (age, gender, region, time of loan, etc.) reducing analysis time. Finally, the limitations revealed in case analysis and comparative analysis are summarized and suggestions for improvement are presented.

  • ISFRA (Integrated SFR Analysis Program for PSA) computer program has been developed for simulating the response of the PGSFR pool design with metal fuel during a severe accident. This paper describes validation of the ISFRA aerosol model against the Aerosol Behavior Code Validation and Evaluation (ABCOVE) experiments undertaken in 1980s for radionuclide transport within a SFR containment. ABCOVE AB5, AB6, and AB7 tests are simulated using the ISFRA aerosol model and the results are compared against the measured data as well as with the simulation results of the MELCOR severe accident code. It is revealed that the ISFRA prediction of single-component aerosols inside a vessel (AB5) is in good agreement with the experimental data as well as with the results of the aerosol model in MELCOR. Moreover, the ISFRA aerosol model can predict the "washout" phenomenon due to the interaction between two aerosol species (AB6) and two-component aerosols without strong mutual interference (AB7). Based on the theory review of the aerosol correlation technique, it is concluded that the ISFRA aerosol model can provide fast, stable calculations with reasonable accuracy for most of the cases unless the aerosol size distribution is strongly deformed from log-normal distribution.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the characteristics of nurses' medication errors during three years. Methods: Retrospective survey study design was used to analyze medication errors by nurses among patient safety accidents. Data were collected for three years from January, 2017 to December, 2019. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, 𝑥2-test, and logistic regression with SPSS 26.0 program. Results: Of a total 677 medication errors, 40.6% were caused by nurses. Among the medication errors, near miss (n=154, 56.0%), intravenous bolus injection (n=170, 61.8%), wrong dose (n=102, 37.1%) and carelessness for repetitive work (n=98, 35.6%) were the most common. Medication errors differed by department, and nurses' career, and patient safety accident type. The results of the logistic regression analysis showed that the risk factors of adverse events were medication of fluids (OR=3.93, 95% CI: 1.26~12.27), insulin subcutaneous injection (OR=39.06, 95% CI: 4.58~333.18), and occurrence of extravasation/infiltration (OR=7.26, 95% CI: 1.85~28.53). Conclusion: The simplest and most effective way to prevent medication errors is to keep 5 right, and a differentiated education program according to department and nurse career is needed rather than general education programs. Hospital-level integrated interventions such as a medication barcode system or a team nursing method are also necessary.

  • A survivability-analysis program has been developed to analyze the ground collision risk of atmospheric reentry objects, such the upper stages of a launch vehicle or satellites, which move at or near the orbital velocity. The aero-thermodynamic load during the free fall, the temperature variation due to thermal load, and the phase shift after reaching the melting point are integrated into the 3 degree-of-freedom trajectory simulation of the reentry objects to analyze the size and weight of its debris impacting the ground. The analysis results of the present method for simple-shaped objects are compared with the data predicted by similar codes developed by NASA and ESA. Also, the analysis for actual reentry orbital objects has been performed, of which results are compared with the measurement data.

  • Many of today's environmental problems are regional in scope and their effects overlap and interact. The purpose of this paper is to developed a simple method for an integrated assessment of environmental conditions across the Mid-Nakdong River Region, by combining data on land use, impervious cover, roads, streams, riparian areas, forest patches, population, pollutant loadings, soil erosion and topography. A cluster analysis was used to identify groups of sub-watersheds with similar environmental characteristics. The mean value for each group was used to find watershed that may be more vulnerable to future environmental degradation. Watersheds in cluster I and II had high amount of forest, but the amount of riparian vegetation was low. Watersheds in cluster III, which located in the middle Geumho River and the main course of Nakdong River, had a greater proportion of their agriculture, a greater proportion of agriculture on steep slopes, and less forest adjacent to streams. Watersheds in cluster IV and V were in the most urbanized areas of the region. The principal adverse impacts for watersheds in this group were high scores for urban area, impervious cover, pollutant loadings, population density, forest fragmentation, and low amounts of forest and riparian forest cover. Notwithstanding the exploratory nature of cluster analysis, it appears to be a useful tool for grouping watersheds with similar environmental characteristics.

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of an 8-week complex attention concentration program on the brain function index and attention concentration in adolescents with ADHD. The subjects of the study were 18 male adolescents from H School located in I City, divided into three groups: 6 participants in the complex attention concentration program group, 6 in the target-related physical activity group, and 6 in the no-treatment control group. Data analysis included calculating means and standard deviations for group comparisons, and two-way (2RM×6RM) ANOVA was conducted to test differences at various measurement points. Post-hoc tests were performed to examine significant interaction effects (p<.05). The results indicated that the integrated attention training program had a more positive effect on brain function sub-indices compared to both the target-related physical activity group and the no-treatment group. Similarly, the program showed a more positive effect on attention levels compared to the other two groups. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the integrated attention training program significantly improves overall brain function in ADHD students and is advantageous due to its ease of participation. It is suggested that this program could be widely used due to these benefits.

  • Most of a BIPVS (Building Integrated Photovoltaic System) is installed on the rooftop or wall of a building. Therefore, the main factor to consider for selecting the installation site is the shadow effects produced by the surrounding buildings. On the other hand, when the photovoltaic was installed on soundproof walls, shadow effects were produced by not only surrounding buildings but also the surrounding trees. Therefore, a different data model and algorithm with the BIPVS case are essential for proper installation sites selection of a SIPVS (Soundproof wall Integrated Photovoltaic System). This paper deals with the DSM (Digital Surface Model)-based proper installation site analysis for SIPVS. First, the solar incident and altitude angles of the installation candidate sites (solar panel) during the year were calculated. Second, the shadow effects (shadowed or unshadowed) were determined for the candidate sites at each time with the DSM. Third, the amount of solar radiation was calculated with the incident angle for the candidate sites at an unshadowed period. The proper installation site of the SIPVS could then be selected by comparing the accumulated annual solar radiation for each candidate. The proposed algorithm was implemented as a prototype (Java program). From the experiment, the order of the installation suitability was determined among the nine candidates. The proposed algorithm could be used for proper BIPVS installation site analysis aimed at the lower part of a building and calculation of the expected power production.
