저압용 SPD가 설치된 전력선통신에서 데이터전송 성능 향상 (A Method for Enhancing Data Transmission Performance in the Power-Line Communication Channel with Low-Voltage Surge Protective Devices)

  • Low-Voltage power lines should equip surge protection devices which protect electronic equipments and human lives against lightning and abnormal voltages. Data transmission capacity of the power line is determined by frequency characteristics of the surge protective devices. To analyze the effects of surge protective devices on the data transmission performance, various combinations of installation methods are tested which include ZnO varistor elements that is compatible with class I, class II and class III. The result claims that ZnO varistor for class III is found to be one of the main factors that deteriorates the transmission performance. To overcome this problem a serial connection methed between Gap type SPD and ZnO varistor is proposed. With the proposed scheme, laboratory experimental results show that the data transmission performance can be improved up to 91.9[%] with proper SPD combination.

Multi-objective optimization of stormwater pipe networks and on-line stormwater treatment devices in an ultra-urban setting

  • In a highly urbanized area, land availability is limited for the installation of space consuming stormwater systems for best management practices (BMPs), leading to the consideration of underground stormwater treatment devices connected to the stormwater pipe system. The configuration of a stormwater pipe network determines the hydrological and pollutant transport characteristics of the stormwater discharged through the pipe network, and thus should be an important design consideration for effective management of stormwater quantity and quality. This article presents a multi-objective optimization approach for designing a stormwater pipe network with on-line stormwater treatment devices to achieve an optimal trade-off between the total installation cost and the annual removal efficiency of total suspended solids (TSS). The Non-dominated Sorted Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) was adapted to solve the multi-objective optimization problem. The study site used to demonstrate the developed approach was a commercial area that has an existing pipe network with eight outfalls into an adjacent stream in Yongin City, South Korea. The stormwater management model (SWMM) was calibrated based on the data obtained from a subcatchment within the study area and was further used to simulate the flow rates and TSS discharge rates through a given pipe network for the entire study area. In the simulation, an underground stormwater treatment device was assumed to be installed at each outfall and sized proportional to the average flow rate at the outfall. The total installation cost for the pipes and underground devices was estimated based on empirical formulas using the flow rates and TSS discharge rates simulated by the SWMM. In the demonstration example, the installation cost could be reduced by up to 9% while the annual TSS removal efficiency could be increased by 4% compared to the original pipe network configuration. The annual TSS removal efficiency was relatively insensitive to the total installation cost in the Pareto-optimal solutions of the pipe network design. The results suggested that the installation cost of the pipes and stormwater treatment devices can be substantially reduced without significantly compromising the pollutant removal efficiency when the pipe network is optimally designed.

  • This paper presents the protection effect of SPDs according to installation conditions. To develop the effective protection countermeasures of information and communication equipments against lightning surges, actual-sized experiments in relation to the protection effects on the installation positions of surge protective devices(SPDs), the length of branch circuit the materials and long of conduit were conducted. The best method for protecting the electronic equipments from surges is to install the SPD at the front point of the devices to be protected. The installation method of the metal conduit bonded with common ground conductor were more effective than that of the PVC conduit.

첨단경고장치가 사업용 차량 운전자의 운전행태에 미치는 영향 분석 (Identifying the effects of advanced warning devices on the driving behaviors of commercial vehicle drivers)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to analyze how the installation of advanced warning devices affects individual drivers' driving behaviors with operating record data collected from 100 vehicles. METHODS : With collected data, the changes in individual drivers' driving behaviors, such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), were investigated with respect to the cumulative distance traveled and driving time. For the analysis, operating record data collected from 100 vehicles for seven months were used. RESULTS : The results showed that individual drivers' driving behaviors could be categorized into six different types. In addition, most of the drivers showed unstable warning patterns in the initial stage after installation of an advanced warning device. Approximately 40% of vehicles equipped with advanced warning systems were found to have positive effects, indicating that the frequencies of both FCW and LDW had been continuously decreasing after installation of the system. CONCLUSIONS : The warning device might be helpful for making drivers' driving behaviors safer. Driving behaviors during the initial stage of the system installation, which might be regarded as an adaptation phase, were found to be very unstable compared with normal situations, indicating that adequate education and training should be provided to all the drivers to prevent operator disruption at the initial installation of the system.

  • The explosionproof apparatus is a devices that is enclosed in a case capable of withstanding an explosion of a specified gas or vapor that may occur within it and of preventing the ignition of a specified gas or vapor surrounding the enclosure by sparks, flashes, or explosion of the gas or vapor within, and that operates at such an external temperature that a surrounding flammable atmosphere will not be ignited thereby This kind of exeplosionfproof devices should be installed suitable for the characteristics of the space or process condition that should be protected to prevent explosion or fire. But, due to the lack of information and techniques on the explosionproof technology, some dangerous area is not properly protected from an explosion or it cost too much to implement the explosionproof devices. In this report, the basic guidelines and several case studies of explosionproof devices installation will be introduced to be of help to field safety engineer.

  • Recently, damages of electronic equipments due to lightning surges coming from AC power lines are increasing. In this work, to propose the effective installation methods of surge protective devices(SPDs), the protective performances of SPDs in actual-sized test circuits were experimentally investigated. In order to obtain the lowest limiting voltage and best protection, long leads of SPDs in installation practices are significantly undesirable. An effective installation method of SPDs for AC mains was proposed. The way of installing SPDs at every branch circuits is more effective than that of installing a SPD near the point of entry.

  • 고도 정보화 사회의 발달과 함께 정보통신 설비는 빠른 전송속도를 필요로 하며, 지능형 산업설비와 행정, 금융, 교통시스템과 같은 사회시스템은 집적회로와 초소형 반도체로 구성되므로 원격감시, 조작에 의해 점차적으로 자동화 되어가고 있다. 이와 같은 현대의 초소형 전자회로는 뇌 서지에 의해 흔히 손상을 입을 수 있으며, 뇌 과전압으로부터 전자회로의 보호에 관심이 집중되고 있다. 본 논문은 일반주택에서 뇌 서지로부터 초소형 컴퓨터와 같은 전자기기의 효과적인 보호방법을 제안하기 위하여 전원계통의 접지방식에 따른 서지보호기의 보호효과를 실험적으로 분석하였다. 또한 서지보호기의 효과적인 설치방법을 조사하고 제안하였다. 기존의 설비에 추가적으로 서지보호기를 설치하는 것은 서지보호기까지의 긴 접속선으로 인한 인덕턴스 때문에 높은 잔류전압이 나타난다. 서지보호기의 설치에 있어 두 접속선을 꼬는 방법이 급격하게 상승하는 과도과전압에 매우 효과적이다.

  • The carbody underframe of TTX vehicle should be modified a lot for the installation of new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody of TTX vehicle, because the carbody underframe is one body structure consisting of a center sill welded with a carbody bolster. Modification operation of the carbody takes a lot of time and cost, because the huge sized carbody structure should be moved to a machining apparatus and machined to guarantee the manufacture accuracy of new device installation brackets. For this reason, modification operation improvement is needed to install new devices more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This paper introduce the development of 'bogie/carbody interface bolster' that not only supports the carbody weight but also enables new devices to be installed more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This development has advantage to reduce working time and cost to install new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody by minimizing the modification of the carbody of TTX vehicle.

부가적으로 설치된 장치 결함으로 인한 차량화재 사고사례 분석 (Analysis of Vehicle Fire Accident Caused by Defect of Optionally Established Equipment)

  • This paper deal with due to the additional equipment established on the vehicle fire accident cases. Recently, vehicle was recognized as other living spaces and it was increasing installation of additional devices such as a black box, multivision, additional battery and so on. However, these additional devices were established on the vehicle by non-specialists such as the general public user or manufacturing and distributors of additional devices since the vehicle factory. Resulting from the additional equipments due to installation errors in these additional equipments connected to the electrical wiring insulation damage or electrical breakdown occurs, and finally leading to a fire caused by the additional equipments. Therefore, additional equipment established on the vehicle due to a fire in order to prevent accidents during the manufacturing process of these devices are installed. If not installed unless the manufacturing process, the installation of additional equipments established by professional who knows the vehicle structure that will be able to prevent the fire.

PCB회로 보드장치내의 안정적 방열설계를 위한 연구 (The stable design of radiant heat inside PCB circuit board device)

  • In this study, the heat flow analysis compatible commercial code CFX 11 was used to develop the structure inside PCB circuit board devices, which could stable radiant heat as well as the cooling device within it. In case of modifying the arrangement of electronic parts on the PCB inside the multi channel temperature measurement board devices, radiant heat effects did not show a rising tendency, whereas the overall temperature went down in case of installing the vents in the outer case of PCB circuit board devices. In terms of installation location, it was the most appropriate to install it on the electronic parts with no heat. Besides, in case of mounting the fan as a cooling device by considering various user environments for multi channel temperature measurement board devices, the radiant heat effects were shown higher than in case of installing the vents, and the middle sections were the most appropriate to its installation location. In case of changing the wind quantity of the fan from its selected installation location, the best radiant heat effects were shown at high speed as expected.
