  • Recently ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) package has been on of important issues in developing information systems in many Korean companies. The main objectives of this study are to analyse the case of implementing ERP system in Samsung Display Devices Co. which is rated to be successful, and to derive significant implications for effective ERP implementation. First, this study focused on showing the detailed roadmap of performing ERP implementation project which largely consists of 5 stages(planning and organizing, visioning. process redesign and mapping, testing and arrangement, and installation and roll-out to overseas subsidiaries), and explaining key activities in each stage. Second, the performance of this project was evaluated on the basis of both process-centered critieria and result-centered ones. Finally, this study intended to discuss and explicate the bottlenecks and the critical success factors in implementing this project. The findings of this case study are thought not only to be useful as a practical guideline in carrying out ERP implementation project but also to provide significant basis for constructing the theoretical framework of effective ERP implementation.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the renewable energy dissemination programs in Korea, using peer-review. Especially, we used the peer review method which was suggested to evaluate the renewable energy program in U.S. by EERE, DOE. Before we implemented the peer review, we modified this method suitable for evaluating the renewable energy dissemination programs in Korea by getting advice from expertise in renewable energy policy. From this procedure, we have verified six evaluation criteria as Quality, Productivity, Accomplishments, Relevance and Management. We interviewed renewable energy policy expertise and corporation to evaluate the programs against these criteria. The result shows that overall programs were performed more than average. In addition, both the policy expertise and corporation perceived that "oan Guarantee Program" and "ompulsory Installation of Renewable Energy Facility in Public building" fulfilled its role to a great extent. However, the respondents pointed out that all of the programs need to be improved on its management.

  • QFD (Quality Function Deployment) was defined by the American Supplier Institute in 1987 as a system for translating consumer requirements into appropriate company requirements at every stage, from research, through product design and development, to manufacture, distribution, installation, and marketing, sales and services. Although QFD has complex and tedious procedure to complete, it has now been in use in the world for at least 15 years because QFD enables us to catch a lot of fruitful information on the given system. The objective of this paper is to provide and analyze the trend on the choice of subject courses of university students using QFD. The data are collected by questionnaires. The samples for this study are randomly chosen from the universities in Seoul, Kangnung, and Samchok during 3 months (2000. 3∼2000.5). The results of this study will play an important role not only for service of students but also for opening of courses.

  • Age replacement policy is a commonly policy in maintenance management of spare part. It means that a spare part is always replaced at failure or fixed time after its installation, whichever occurs first. An optimal age replacement policy of spare parts concerns with finding the optimal replacement time determined by minimizing the expected cost per unit time. The age of the part was generally assumed to be a random variable in the past literatures, but in many situations, there are few or even no observed data to estimate the probability distribution of part's lifetime. In order to solve this phenomenon, a new uncertain age replacement policy has been proposed recently, in which the age of the part was assumed to be an uncertain variable. This paper discusses the optimal age replacement policies by dealing with the parts' lifetimes as different distributed uncertain variables. Several results on the optimal age replacement time are provided when the lifetimes are described by the uncertain linear, zigzag and lognormal distributions.

  • An automated machining system involves concurrent use of manufacturing resources, alternative process plans, and flexible routings. High investment in the installation of automated facilities requires an efficient scheduling system that is able to allocate the resources specified for operations over a scheduling horizon. The primary emphasis of this paper is to generate schedules that accurately reflect details of the automated environment and the objectives stated for the system. In this paper, a scheduling algorithm for automated machining is presented. Using the previous simulation research for this topic, a rule-based scheduling system is constructed. An architecture for an intelligent scheduling system is proposed, and the system has a high potential to provide efficient schedules based on the task-specific knowledge for the dynamic scheduling environment

  • Recently, ordinary mail is decreasing continuously by the development of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) including E-mail, messenger service, and etc. On the contrary, parcel post is increasing by the increase of online shopping, home shopping, and etc. Aside from these changes, the demand for various mail acceptance and delivery means is increasing with the increase of single households and dual-income couples. To overcome these environmental changes, Korea Post installs unmanned post offices which are composed of various unmanned mail acceptance and delivery postal systems. In this paper, we propose the methodological approach for the site selection of unmanned post office among the existing post offices and the installation standard of unmanned postal system considering the operation cost by the mail volume.

  • This paper considers a facility location problem, which is concerned with locating facilities on a supply chain network and installing the associated equipments at the facilities to meet a given set of demands. The objective function is to minimize the sum of setup cost (facility opening cost and equipment installation cost), operation cost, and distribution cost. For the equipments, various choices of equipment modes need to be determined. Moreover, in the problem, overwork is allowed each facility but at expensive operation cost. The proposed problem is characterized as being NP-hard problem, so that a heuristic algorithm is derived. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, computational experiments with various numerical instances are conducted.

  • In this paper we are to explain the development of circuit breaker characteristic tester for 25.8kV Gas Insulated Switchgear. Because of hermetically sealed cubicle, we have the difficulties of installation and usage of tester. Therefore we developed measuring tester and software. This tester can measure CB close/trip time, coil current, stroke, chattering time. And it has CB positive/ negative discrimination program, trend management program, DB management program.

  • This paper is application of System Assurance(SA) for the rolling stock. As railway systems become more complex, design teams are increasingly under pressure to deliver, design solutions, which integrate both technical and Systems Assurance(SA). Systems Assurance is the application of management methods and analysis techniques to ensure that a design meets Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) criteria. It should be clearly understood that the intent of System Assurance is not just to provide analytical techniques as a metric on performance, but more importantly it should provide a management tool with which to co-ordinate and assure the whole design. System Assurance encompasses the ongoing requirement to consider safety, and RAM through each stage of a Project, from feasibility study through to commissioning and operation. If System Assurance is undertaken properly at feasibility study at the design stages of a Project, the benefits of such analyses can be significant in identifying potential problems early enough for action to be taken before manufacture or installation. At commissioning, RAMS demonstration activities are undertaken to validate the predictive and analytical techniques undertaken during the design.
