Classification of Characters in Movie by Correlation Analysis of Genre and Linguistic Style

  • The character dialogue created by AI is unnatural when compared with human-made dialogue, and it can not reveal the character's personality properly in spite of remarkable development of AI. The purpose of this paper is to classify characters through the linguistic style and to investigate the relation of the specific linguistic style with the personality. We analyzed the dialogues of 92 characters selected from total 60 movies categorized four movie genres, such as romantic comedy, action, comedy and horror/thriller, using Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC), a text analysis software. As a result, we confirmed that there is a unique language style according to genre. Especially, we could find that the emotional tone than analytical thinking are two important features to classify. They were analyzed as very important features for classification as the precision and recall is over 78% for romantic comedy and action. However, the precision and recall were 66% and 50% for comedy and horror/thriller. Their impact on classification was less than romantic comedy and action genre. The characters of romantic comedy deal with the affection between men and women using a very high value of emotional tone than analytical thinking. The characters of action genre who need rational judgment to perform mission have much greater analytical thinking than emotional tone. Additionally, in the case of comedy and horror/thriller, we analyzed that they have many kinds of characters and that characters often change their personalities in the story.

Public Health Center Service Experiences and Needs among Immigrant Women in South Korea

  • Purpose: To support implementation of comprehensive, person-centered healthcare, this study aimed to explore immigrant women's public health center (PHC) service experiences and needs while considering Photovoice's feasibility for this purpose. Methods: This qualitative study included 15 marriage-based immigrant women. Participants were recruited from churches and multicultural family support centers using purposive and snowball sampling. Data were collected through four focus group interviews and were subjected to inductive content analysis. Results: Five categories of experiences were identified: language barriers, hectic environment, affordable and practical primary healthcare, feeling ignored and discriminated against, and feeling frustrated. In addition, five categories of needs were identified: language assistance services, ease of access, healthcare across the lifespan, expansion of affordable healthcare, and being accepted as they are. This study provides preliminary evidence that the Photovoice approach can facilitate the interview process in a qualitative inquiry involving participants with limited ability to express their perspectives in the researchers' language. Conclusion: Study findings highlight the need to implement institutional policy and procedural changes within PHCs and to provide culturally competent, personcentered care for South Korea's marriage-based immigrant women and other ethnic minority populations. The findings also provide evidence-based direction for PHC service planning.

Emotional Reactions, Sentiment Disagreement, and Bitcoin Trading

  • Purpose - This study aims to explore the influence of emotional discrepancies among investors on the cryptocurrency market. It focuses on how varying emotions affect market dynamics such as volatility and trading volume in the context of Bitcoin trading. Design/methodology/approach - This study involves analyzing data from Bitcointalk.org, consisting of 57,963 posts and 2,215,776 responses from November 22, 2009, to December 31, 2022. Tools used include the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) software for classifying emotional content and the Python Pattern library for sentiment analysis. Findings - The results show that heterogeneous emotional feedback, whether positive or negative, significantly influences Bitcoin's intraday volatility, skewness, and trading volume. These findings are more pronounced when the underlying emotion in the feedback is amplified. Research implications or Originality - This study underscores the significance of emotional factors in financial decision-making, especially within the realm of social media. It suggests that investors and market strategists should consider the emotional landscape of online forums when making investment choices or formulating market strategies. The research also paves the way for future studies regarding the behavioral impact of emotions on the cryptocurrency market.

고등학교 한국지리 GIS 관련 평가 문항 분석: 7차 교육과정 고등학교 3학년 전국 규모 평가를 대상으로 (An Analysis on the GIS-related Test Items of High School Korean Geography: Focusing on the Nationwide Tests for the 12th Graders in the 7th National Education Curriculum)

  • 이 연구의 주된 목적은 7차 교육과정 한국지리 교과 내용 중 GIS에 관련된 평가 문항을 분석하여 그 특성을 밝히고, 그것이 시사하는 바를 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 선행연구 및 7차 교육과정 교과서에 대한 내용 분석을 토대로 평가의 내용 요소와 행동 요소에 초점을 둔 분석의 틀을 제시하였다. 이에 기초하여 대학 수학능력시험을 포함, 2004~2012년에 시행된 전국규모평가를 대상으로 문항의 특성과 정답율을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 문항의 유형과 관련하여서는 특정 문항에의 집중이 크게 나타나고 있었으며, 정답율의 경우 전체 평균 보다 다소 높았으나 문항의 유형별로 상이한 결과를 보였다. 이 분석의 결과를 바탕으로 평가 과정 및 교실 수업에 시사하는 바를 제시하였는데, 지형이나 인구와 같은 일반 교과 내용과의 연계, 탐구 지향형 평가의 문항의 강화 및 적정 난이도 유지 등이 개선 방향이 될 것으로 판단된다.

지리교과를 통한 시민성 교육의 내재적 정당화 (Intrinsic Justification of Citizenship Education through Geography Subject)

  • 본 연구는 지리교과를 통한 시민성 교육의 가능성을 탐색하기 위한 것으로서 '시민성'과 '시민성의 공간' 에 대한 내재적 정당화에 관한 논의이다. Peters의 지식의 형식과 입문으로서의 교육관에 따라 지리적 지식의 형식을 검토하여 시민성을 내재적으로 정당화하였다. 지리학은 탈실증주의 패러다임의 언어와 이데올로기의 도입을 통해 기존의 '공간' 중심에서 '인간'과 '사회'에 더욱 관심을 가지는 방향으로 나아가고 있는데 이는 다름아닌 시민성의 공간으로의 전환을 의미한다. 즉, 사회공간이론을 통해 가치중립적인 물리적 공간 개념을 거부하고, 가치내재적인 '시민성의 공간'으로 전환을 모색하고 있다. 이러한 지리적 지식의 형식의 변화가 지리교과의 내용지식의 변화를 주도한다고 볼 때, 시민성은 내재적으로 정당화될 수 있다. 이와 같이 지리교과의 내용지식으로서의 시민성은 사회과 교육목적을 그대로 수용하는 외재적 정당화가 아니라, 지리적 지식의 형식을 통해 내재적으로 정당화될 때 의미를 지닌다. 그리고 시민성 공간에 토대한 시민성이라는 가치와 신념으로의 입문으로서의 지리교육은 학생들로 하여금 어떤 목적지에 도달하도록 하는 것이 아니라, 다른 관점을 가지고 나아가도록 해야 한다는 것을 의미한다.

중학교 과학교과서 부록에 관한 조사 연구 (Investigation on Appendices of Science Textbooks in Korean Middle Schools)

  • Investigation on the appendices was carried out to acquire teaching materials about improvement of a appendices and development of teaching-learning activities for science textbooks in Korean middle schools. We analysed the appendices for 30 kinds of science textbooks used in Korean middle schools during $1969{\sim}1994$ years. In the results there were three kinds of pattern for the appendices, such as appendix, non-appendix, and similar appendix without appendix title. The content of appendices were summarized as six categories. such as list of science and scientist history, SI unit-constants and symbols, handling methods of instruments for basic experiments, measuring methods and inquiry activity, safety and precautions, and supplementary data with figures and tables. The appendices of six categories were mostly a content of general and integrated science, and were concentrated in the first grader's textbooks. There were many appendices about the methods for basic experiments such as 'How to Use of Experimental Appliances' in the first grader's science textbooks, but there was no or lack of them in the second and the third grader's science textbooks in the middle school. By the ratio to the pages of appendices which were included according to curriculum changes. the ratio was found to be 4.47% which was the highest in middle school science textbooks at the second curriculum and to be 3.47% which was the highest in high school biology textbooks at the second curriculum. The results of this study indicated that the science textbooks should include as many appendices as possible, because teachers could utilize them in teaching activities and students should be able to be given much help in self-learning.

불간섭주의와 교사협력 - 과학수업을 위한 두 초등교사의 교사협력 사례 연구 - (Noninterference and Teacher Collaboration - The Case Study of Two Elementary School Teachers' Collaboration for Science Classes -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction of science PCK between two elementary school teachers by the teacher collaboration within the school. We chose the case that two teachers collaborated spontaneously in the 5th-grade science classes. Even though they had similar teaching experiences, one of them had the science PCK while the other did not. As a result of this study, two teachers began to collaborate to avoid comparisons of science classes between them. They shared the same teaching plan but practiced science teaching individually. During they taught science, they usually collaborated on the instructional sequences, student's activities, and the content of assessments. They had an in-depth collaboration when the teacher who lacked the science PCK asked help to teach problem-centered learning by science inquiry. During the collaboration, their science PCK components, especially the knowledge of instructional strategies for teaching science, shared and it affected the teacher's science practices who lacked the science PCK. However, they did not usually share the knowledge of teaching for their everyday science classes because two teachers had the perception of noninterference about their science classes. This case has the limitation that it is hard to generalize the results but teacher collaboration shows the possibility to develop the elementary school teachers' science professionalism by having peers in the school who can help them in science classes.

통계분석에 의한 현장 타설 콘크리트의 품질 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties of Ready Mixed Concrete Quality in Site by Statistical Analysis)

  • 현장에서의 레디믹스트 콘크리트(이하 레미콘) 품질에 대한 신뢰도의 정량적 평가를 위해 동일 규격 레미콘에 대하여 타설시기에 따른 슬럼프값, 공기량, 염분함유량 및 재령에 따른 압축강도의 품질 특성값의 변동정도를 비교하고 각각의 시험값들을 통계적인 분석도구를 이용하여 그 품질변동 요인 및 품질값을 분석하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 통해 7일강도와 28일강도 사이의 상관식과 공기량 및 슬럼프의 품질 신뢰도를 파악하였으며 이에 대한 결과 고찰 및 콘크리트 품질 확보를 위한 관리방안을 모색하고자 하였다.

과학사 과목의 전통 천문의기 학습을 위해 필요한 학습 요소 및 관련 성취기준 위계성 분석 (Hierarchy Analysis of Learning Elements and Related Achievement Standards for Traditional Astronomy in the History of Science Subject)

  • 본 연구에서는 고등학교 과학과 진로선택과목 중 하나인 과학사 과목에 대한 학생들의 선택률이 낮은 문제 상황을 개선하기 위해 과학사 과목의 한국의 전통 과학 단원에서 다루는 전통 천문의기 9종과 관련한 학습 요소 및 성취기준을 분석하여 내용의 적합성과 위계성을 분석하였다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 학년군을 달리한 과학과 교육과정에서 각각의 천문의기를 교수·학습에 활용할 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 출발점으로 하여, 전통 천문의기와 관련된 구체적인 성취기준 또는 탐구 활동을 개발하는 후속 연구가 이루어질 수 있다면 한국의 전통 과학문화에 대한 학생들의 인식을 제고할 수 있고, 더 나아가서 과학사 과목에 대한 학생들의 선택률을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

챗봇 활용 핵심광물 탐구에서 나타난 학생과 생성형 인공지능의 상호작용 (Interaction Between Students and Generative Artificial Intelligence in Critical Mineral Inquiry Using Chatbots)

  • This study used a Chatbot, a generative artificial intelligence (AI), to analyze the interaction between the Chatbot and students when exploring critical minerals from an epistemological aspect. The results, issues to be kept in mind in the teaching and learning process using AI were discussed in terms of the role of the teacher, the goals of education, and the characteristics of knowledge. For this study, we conducted a three-session science education program using a Chatbot for 19 high school students and analyzed the reports written by the students. As a result, in terms of form, the students' questions included search-type questions and non-search-type questions, and in terms of content, in addition to various questions asking about the characteristics of the target, there were also questions requiring a judgment by combining various data. In general, students had a questioning strategy that distinguished what they should aim for and what they should avoid. The Chatbot's answer had a certain form and consisted of three parts: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. In particular, the conclusion included commentary or opinions with opinions on the content, and in this, value judgments and the nature of science were revealed. The interaction between the Chatbot and the student was clearly evident in the process in which the student organized questions in response to the Chatbot's answers. Depending on whether they were based on the answer, independent or derived questions appeared, and depending on the direction of comprehensiveness and specificity, superordinate, subordinate, or parallel questions appeared. Students also responded to the chatbot's answers with questions that included critical thinking skills. Based on these results, we discovered that there are inherent limitations between Chatbots and students, unlike general classes where teachers and students interact. In other words, there is 'limited interaction' and the teacher's role to complement this was discussed, and the goals of learning using AI and the characteristics of the knowledge they provide were also discussed.
