  • Objective: This study identifies the difference among the heights of a chair's backrest (High, Mid, No), the biomechanical changes chair users undergo over time, and the variables that can measure musculoskeletal disorders, eventually providing information on the appropriate type of backrest. Method: Eleven healthy subjects in their 20s and 30s who had no experience with musculoskeletal disorders or surgical operations within the last 6 months participated in this study. Computer typing tasks were randomly designated and performed according to the type of chair backrest, and evaluation was performed for Flexion-Relaxation Ratio (FRR) analysis after the computer typing tasks. This study used eight infrared cameras (sampling rate: 100 Hz) and nine-channel electromyography (sampling rate: 1,000 Hz). ANOVA with repeated measures was conducted to verify the results, with the statistical significance level being α = .05. Results: Although there was no significant difference in craniovertebral angle (CVA), this study showed time and interaction effects depending on the height of the backrest (p<.05). When working without the backrest, the head-spine angle was lower compared to the chairs with backrest, based on the computer work. As for the head angle, the higher the back of the chair was, the less the head flexion and the body angle became, whereas the body flexion became less when there was a backrest. In addition, the body flexion increased over time in all types of backrests (p<.05). The muscle activity of the upper body tended to be high in the high backrest chair. On the other hand, a lower muscle activity was found with a low backrest. Conclusion: These results show that a chair is more ergonomic when the body angle is correctly set without bending and when it is supported by a low backrest. Accordingly, this study determines that the backrest affects shoulder and neck musculoskeletal disorders during typing and that medium-height backrest chairs can help prevent musculoskeletal disorders, contrary to the expectation that high-backrest chairs are preferable.

  • In this study, the surface of Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) disks was modified to have a hydrophilic surface by applying a coating of Polyethylene glycol (PEG), Hyaluronic acid(HA), and Poly-Dopamine(PDA). The investigation aimed to examine whether the coated surfaces showed enhanced bioactivity for orthopedic applications compared to the pure PEEK. The microstructure, surface characteristics, and wettability of PEEK coated with PEG, HA, and PDA were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), FT-IR spectrophotometer, Roughness Measurement System, Micro-Vickers, and Contact angle measurement. The mechanical properties were analyzed using a tensile testing machine, while the MTT assay for cell activity was analyzed using a microplate reader to measure optical density. According to the SEM and FT-IR results, the composition and crystal structure of PEG, HA and PDA coated surface were verified. Also, roughness, hardness, and contact angle were all improved in the coating group compared to the pure PEEK. We checked the HepG2 cell proliferation by using MTT assay on 7th days. In MTT assay results, HepG2 cell proliferation was increased with time, at 7 days, cell viability on discs coated with PDA was significantly higher than pure PEEK, PEG, HA coated group. PDA coated PEEK exhibited the highest surface roughness, hardness, contact angle, and cell activity. The mechanical properties were not affected by the presence of the coating.

  • Fe-Ni-Pt nanocatalysts were loaded on carbon black powders which were synthesized by a spontaneous reduction reaction of iron (II) acetylacetonate, nickel (II) acetylacetonate and platinum (II) acetylacetonate. The morphology and the loading weight of Fe-Ni-Pt nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analyzer. The amount of Fe-Ni-Pt catalyst supported on the carbon black surface was about 6.42-9.28 wt%, and the higher the Fe content and the lower the Pt content, the higher the total amount of the metal catalyst supported. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller Analysis (BET) specific surface area of carbon black itself without metal nanoparticles supported was 233.9 m2/g, and when metal nanoparticles were introduced, the specific surface area value was greatly reduced. This is because the metal nanocatalyst particles block the pore entrance of the carbon black, and thereby the catalytic activity of the metal catalysts generated inside the pores is reduced. From the I-V curves, as the content of the Pt nanocatalyst increased, the electrolytic properties of water increased, and the activity of the metal nanocatalyst was in the order of Pt > Ni > Fe.

  • Radioisotopes tend to play important roles in many fields, such as industry, healthcare, agriculture, aerospace, etc. Radioisotope production is mainly through accelerators or research reactors, and high flux research reactor is one of the most effective approaches for radioisotope production. The physical basis of preparing radioisotope relies on nuclear reactions occurring in the reactor core, which includes fission, (n,γ), (n,α), and (n,p) reaction, etc. Among them, fission and (n,γ) reaction are most important in the nuclear reactor. For example, the 99Mo could be generated by uranium fission and extracting from the fission products, or through the radiative capture reaction from enriched 98Mo. As for the fission method, the irradiation target is gradually transitioning from high enriched uranium (HEU) target to low enriched uranium (LEU) target due to the requirement of non-proliferation. In this paper, studies on the impacts of different fission targets on radioisotope productions are conducted. Moreover, an optimized study on the radiative capture method is performed to improve the production efficiency. It is concluded that it is advantageous to use radiative capture method to generate radioisotopes in high flux reactor, which helps to improve the specific activity with environmental friendliness.

  • Despite the uncertainty and risky factors of startups, the special and critical role of accelerators in carrying out professional nurturing and investment for them is becoming increasingly significant in the startup social-system. However, academic research on investment determinants that have a profound impact on the survival of accelerators is lacking, and there are only a few empirical studies on the classification and importance of factors, and they do not enjoy the benefits of theoretical studies. This study proposes a business model innovation framework based on the business model innovation theory that reflects the nature and properties of startups that are investment targets of accelerators and derives 12 investment decision factors. The framework defines that the target, direction, and performable force of startup innovation are a business model, strategy, and dynamic capability. Besides, the framework analyzes the investment decision factors of the existing accelerators based on the business model innovation framework to verify the suitability and sufficiency of the composition. As a result of the analysis, first, most of the items were faithfully composed from a static point of view of business model innovation, but it was found that the factors related to the core activities to evaluate the activity and customer relationship were insufficient. Second, from the strategic point of view, the necessity of developing factors that can encompass the definition and content of core resources, which are internal strategic factors, was raised. Third, from the dynamic point of view, it was found that many of the investment determinants of accelerators were concentrated on the lower level of dynamic competencies. This can be judged as a result of reflecting the characteristics of a startup that needs to develop a solution with few resources and a small number of team members. In addition, the roles and interrelationships between each factor are not clear, thus it was found as a limiting point for startups to view and evaluate the direction and process in which startups dynamically innovate their business models. This study is considerably differentiated in that it provides a business model innovation framework and offers a theoretical basis for investment determinants by deriving the investment determinants of accelerators based on the framework and design the foundation for subsequent research. The business model innovation framework presented in this study has great implications in that it contributes to the achievement of startups, accelerators, and startup support organizations.

  • More than 1200 microorganisms were isolated from soil samples collected from various sources and localities. Among the isolates, 2 actinomyces (TH-04 and BA313) and 1 Bacillus sp. (CJ3) were selected as antagonists to pepper anthracnose fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. These 3 isolates inhibitied mycelial growth of C gloeosporioides and the inhibition rates were over 70% on PDA. When the isolates were co-cultured with conidia of C. gloeosporioides in potato dextrose broth, conidial germination was severely inhibited and the inhibition rates of TH-04, BA313, and CJ3 at 24 hours were 75%, 72%, and 68%, respectively. The inhibition rates at n hours incubation were not much different from the rates at 24 hours. To check the activity on the plant, each isolate was mixed with equal volume of conidial suspension of C. gloeosporioides and wound-inoculated on green pepper fruit. After 6 days, the anthracnose lesions on the fruits inoculated with the mixture were much smaller than the lesions caused by the C. gloeosporioides itself. The lesion areas of TH-04 or BA313 treated pepper were less than 30% of the check. TH-04 and BA313 also showed antagonistic activity to Phytophthora spp. and Botrytis cinerea. By scanning electron microscopy and fatty acid analyses (MIDI), TH-04 and BA313 were identified to Streptomyces halstedii and S. violaceusniger, repectively.

  • There is significant interest in finding new sources of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors for use in treating Alzheimer's disease, since only a few AChE inhibitors are available for clinical use, such as galanthamine, physostigmine, and tacrine. The ethanol extract of Chrysanthemum indicum Linne flowers was analyzed and found to markedly decrease AChE activity. Acaciin and $acacetin-7-O-{\beta}-D-galactopyranoside$ were identified as the active compounds responsible for the AChE inhibition by using an activity-guided fractionation strategy. The relationship between structure and activity for five flavonoids (acaciin, $acacetin-7-O-{\beta}-D-galactopyranoside$, luteolin, and two other commercially available flavonoids, i.e., apigenin and acacetin) was also investigated, revealing that the presence of methoxy groups at C-4' in the B ring and a sugar at O-7 in ring A appear to be essential for the inhibition of AChE.
