  • In this paper we are concerned with optimal control problems whose costs am quadratic and whose states are governed by linear delay equations and general boundary conditions. The basic new idea of this paper is to Introduce a new class of linear operators in such a way that the state equation subject to a starting function can be viewed as an inhomogeneous boundary value problem in the new linear operator equation. In this way we avoid the usual semigroup theory treatment to the problem and use only linear operator theory.

  • We present accurate analytical solutions of the lineshapes of birefringence (rotation) and dichroism (absorption) spectroscopy for a circular anisotropic medium composed of atoms of the transition $J_g=0{\rightarrow}J_e=1$. The susceptibility of a weak probe beam was analytically calculated and was averaged over a Maxwell-Boltzmann velocity distribution. The lineshapes of the two spectroscopies were then presented in analytical forms at arbitrary values of the linewidths of the inhomogeneous (Doppler) broadening and the homogeneous (natural) broadening of the atoms.

  • The development of deformation texture in FCC polycystalline metals during rolling was simulated by the finite element analysis using a large-deformation, elaatic-plastic, rate-dependent polycrystalline model of crystal plasticity. Different plastic anisotropy due to different orientation of each crystal makes inhomogeneous deformation. Assuming plane strain compression condition, the simulation with a high rate sensitivity resulted in main component change from Dillamore at low rate sensitivity to Brass component.

  • This paper is concerned with a mixed Lagrangian formulation of the wiscous, stationary, incompressible Navier-Stokes equations $$ (1.1) -\nu\Delta u + (u \cdot \nabla)u + \nabla_p = f in \Omega $$ and $$ (1.2) \nubla \cdot u = 0 in \Omega $$ along with inhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on a portion of the boundary $$ (1.3) u = ^{0 on \Gamma_0 _{g on \Gamma_g, $$ where $\Omega$ is a bounded open domain in $R^d, d = 2 or 3$, or with a boundary $\Gamma = \partial\Omega$, which is composed of two disjoint parts $\Gamma_0$ and $\Gamma_g$.

  • The purpose of this paper is to consider the inhomogeneous initial value problem (Fig.) in a Banach space X, where Z is the generator of an exponentially bounded C-semigroup in X, f9t) : [0, T].rarw.X and x.mem.X. Davies-Pang [1] showed the corresponding homogeneous equation, this is, the equation with f(t).iden.0, has a unique solution depending continuoously on the initial value x.mem.CD(z) in the $C^{-1}$-graph norm on CD(Z) when T=.inf..

  • In this paper, a class of initial value problem of hyperbolic equations for fourth order with multiple characteristics is considered and can be solved analytically by variable transforms. Also, similar to Goursat's problem we present a direct integration technique for finding a new solutions of an inhomogeneous hyperbolic equation of fourth order such that the attached conditions are given on its multiple characteristics.

  • In this paper, the depth and attenuation coefficient are estimated from the mutilayered liver tissue which contained a inhomogeneous one using reflected ultrasonic signals and the abnormal one is detected quantitatively. Regarding a liver tissue as several reflectors, we analyzed each one by the frequency spectral difference method and discussed its attenuation characteristics. For the verification of this method, the liver pantom and acryle are used. And also we proved the usefulness through the experiment.

  • In this paper, the reconstruction of complex permittivity distribution on a rectangular cross section of inhomogeneous dielectric cylinders is performed by employing the spectral inverse scattering scheme. Numerical simulations provide the superresolution to the permittivity profiles nearly regardless of the measurement locations of the scattered field and the permittivity distributions on the cross section.

  • Electrical impedance tomograpy(EIT) determines the resistivity distribution inside an inhomogeneous target by means of voltage and current measurements conducted at the target boundary. In this paper, a simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation(SPSA) approach is proposed for the solution of the EIT image reconstruction. Results of numerical experiments of EIT solved by the SPSA approach are presented and compared to that obtained by the modified Newton-Raphson(mNR) method.
