Sodium chloride plays an important role as the main condiment at daily meal. It is well known that humans require sodium chloride as an essential nutrient to keep the homeostasis of electrolytes. The amounts of salt intake may be a reflection of geography, culture and food habit rather than necessity. Lee has reported (1962) that Koreans ingest high amounts of sodium chloride in their meals, with an intake of excess carbohydrate (80-90% of total Calories) and low protein in their diet. This includes large amounts of rice, Kimchi and other fermented soybean products common in the Korean diet. This investigation was designed to study the dietary relations of sodium chloride to other nutrients in the Korean diet. Twenty four albino male rats, weighing from 290-300g, were divided into four dietary groups according to the amounts of carbohydrate, protein and fat in the basal diet. Each diet contained a rice powder as a carbohydrate source. Diet I was a control diet, Diet II, low protein, Diet III, low protein and low fat diet and Diet IV, low fat diet. All rats were provided with 3% sodium chloride solution. Diet and salt solution were given ad libitum. The experiment was carried out for 9 weeks during which time the body weight, the food intake, and 3% sodium chloride solution consumption were determined. At the 9th week, the urine was collected the blood sample from the artery of each rat for the analysis of sodium and potassium and other chemical studies. The rats were sacrificed and the kidney, adrenal, liver and spleen were measured, and observed changes of the pathological tissue in the kidney and adrenal. The results were summarized as follows: 1) The growth rate was higher in Diet I than in the other experimental diets (II, III and IV) after 4 weeks. There was no significant difference found between the experimental Diets II, III and IV. 2) The daily food intake was greater in the experimental diets II, III and IV than in the control diet. However, there was no difference among the high carbohydrate diets Diet II, III and IV. 3) The daily water (3% sodium chloride solution) intake was also greater in the Diets II, III and IV, than in the control diet. However, there was no difference between Diets II, III and IV. 4) The concentration of sodium and potassium in the blood were within the normal range in all diets. 5) The amount of sodium chloride in the urine was significantly greater in Diets II, III and IV than in the control diet. Diets II, III, IV had a larger amount of sodium solution consumption. 6) Observation of pathological tissue in the experimental diets found a cell proliferation in the glomerlulus of the kidney, while such change was not found in the control diet.
The purpose of this study aims guarana ingestion to possibly be Ergogenic Aids(EA) for elite male athletes who do long time exercises. Participators who play long distance belong to H-university. They are measured HRmax by polar and treadmill, and they do run on the treadmill for 60 minutes with HRmax 70%. Participators ingest 200ml guarana and water for 5 times. They were drawn blood for 3 time such as before 30 minutes, after finish, and after 30 minutes later. Data processing was repeated of the measuring, two way repeated ANOVA, according to guarana ingestion, water ingestion, and treatment time. The result of this study identifies that guarana ingestion is more positive effect with glucose, Free fatty acid, and lactic acid than water. Hence, guarana ingestion is including function of EA to increase reserving energy on the body for rising kinetic ability.

This study was conducted to investigate extract, total phenolic compounds, total flavonoid compounds, free radical scavenging activities (DPPH assay, ABTS assay), and reducing power (Oyaizu's assay, FRAP assay) of soybean sprout according to cooking process (non-blanched, blanched, seasoned). This research was carried out in order to demonstrate the superiority of Korean traditional cooking methods 'Namul'. Soybean sprout sample extracts were prepared using 80% ethanol extraction. Extract yield of non-blanched soybean sprout was 1.42% while that of blanched soybean sprout was 0.65%. On the other hand, the yield of seasoned soybean sprout was 6.50%. Total contents of phenolic compound and total flavonoid seasoned soybean sprout were $79.52{\pm}1.41$ mg GAE/100 g FW (fresh weight) and $6.21{\pm}0.16$ mg CE/100 g FW, respectively. Seasoned soybean sprout extracts showed higher contents compared to non-blanched and blanched sprout extracts. Total antioxidant activities were in the order of seasoned soybean sprout > non-blanched soybean sprout > blanched soybean sprout. The overall results of this study demonstrate that cooked soybean sprout by seasoning would be the most efficient way to ingest antioxidant compounds.

This paper presents the scientific basis for the significance and physiological activity of gongyang as tributes, focusing on the four summer fruits, i.e., grapes, watermelons, oriental melons, and dragon fruits, which were used as one of the yukbeopgongyang in Yeongsanjae's thorough literature review (yeongsanjae and 2010.3~2020.2 published fruit research). As a result of the study, the fruit is not obtained from fruit trees, but from enlightenment. Chemically, the fruit had a high content of antioxidants, such as polyphenol and flavonoid. The fruit had excellent DPPH and ABTS+ radical scavenging activities and reducing power. The skin of the fruits, the non-edible part, had higher physiological activity than the flesh, the edible part. Therefore, further studies on the physiological activity in each part of dragon fruit and regarding how to ingest and utilize the peel of the four fruits need to be conducted.
Although the Dongjin Au-Ag-Cu mine had been abandoned since about forty years ago, the results of this study on the dispersion patterns and contamination level of heavy metals in the hydrologic system flowing via the waste rump show that the environmental impacts from the mine wastes are still significant. The stream water in the vicinity of the waste rump is severely acidified (pH 3.8 to 4.4) and highly enriched in various dissolved heavy metals. The heavy metal contents of the stream water and stream sediments are systematically attenuated with increasing distance from the mine area. However, it is worth to note that continuous attenuation of heavy metal contents in both media were reenriched in downstream area more than 800 m apart from the mine because it can be acted as a secondary source of heavy metal pollution. The heavy metals, especially Cd, Cu and Zn of polluted downstream sediments mainly occur in Fe-Mn oxides and organic materials, which indicates that these elements are the main pollutants from the waste rump of the Dongjin mine. The heavy metal contents of crops, such as sesame, perilla, red Pepper and brown rice, collected from the polluted farm land in the downstream area are lower than those of land plants from stream sides, but significantly higher in Cd, Cr, Cu and Zn than those from the unpolluted farm land. Especially, almost all of the crops in polluted farm land have been severly contaminated by Cd (>0.4 ppm). On the other hand, the heavy metal contents of the crops collected from refreshed farm land by means of a soil addition method shows significantly lowered level comparing with those of polluted area, which indicates that a soil addition method was effective for the refreshment of polluted farm land by toxic metallic pollutants. Wormwoods from this area showed very high contents in a11 the heavy metals even in unpolluted area (Cd > 1 ppm, Cr > 1 ppm, Cu > 11 ppm, Pb> 4 ppm, Zn > 55 ppm), indicating that a special caution must be payed when one takes ingest them.
A vast amount of riverine spatial dataset have recently become available, which include hydrodynamic and morphological survey data by advanced instrumentations such as ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler), transect measurements obtained through building various river basic plans, riverine environmental and ecological data, optical images using UAVs, river facilities like multi-purposed weir and hydrophilic sectors. In this regard, a standardized data model has been subsequently required in order to efficiently store, manage, and share riverine spatial dataset. Given that riverine spatial dataset such as river facility, transect measurement, time-varying observed data should be synthetically managed along specified river network, conventional data model showed a tendency to maintain them individually in a form of separate layer corresponding to each theme, which can miss their spatial relationship, thereby resulting in inefficiency to derive synthetic information. Moreover, the data model had to be significantly modified to ingest newly produced data and hampered efficient searches for specific conditions. To avoid such drawbacks for layer-based data model, this research proposed a relational data model in conjunction with river network which could be a backbone to relate additional spatial dataset such as flowline, river facility, transect measurement and surveyed dataset. The new data model contains flexibility to minimize changes of its structure when it deals with any multi-dimensional river data, and assigned reach code for multiple river segments delineated from a river. To realize the newly developed data model, Seom river was applied, where geographic informations related with national and local rivers are available.
The purpose of this study was to survey the recognition and the actual state of use of Native pork. The recognition on Native pork were examined using a questionary to eight hundred males and females in Kyeongbuk and Daegu. The results were as follows : The meats which they often ate in the order of pork, beef and chicken. When people eat out, 43.7% of those ate pork and 42.7% of those ate beef, the younger people liked pork more than the older people. The recognition on pork dishes showed the a high mean value of 3.38 to "I like Pork dishes" 53.5% of the respondants liked three-ply flesh and 33.6% of those liked rib among the part of pork. The favorite pork dish was pork roast meat at 48.1 o/e, Kimchichige at 13.6%, and sweet and sour pork 10.9%. Suitable and garnish food with pork were lettuce, sesame leaf and garlic, and alcoholic drinks such as soju. The standards for the contents of glyphosate and glufosinate in foods are specific and well categorized. However, the standard of content in animal feeds is relatively inadequate and the classification is insufficient. There is also constant debate about the risk of glyphosate and glufosinate to human health, but the risk to animals has not been well studied. In this study, we established an analytical method in feeds that is estimated to be the path for animals to ingest glyphosate. The solvent extraction was carried out using 25% methanol. After centrifugation, samples were purified using solid phase extraction (SPE) and quantitatively analysed using LC-MS/MS after concentrated. Assessment of validation was conducted through detection limits, accuracy, and precision tests. The detection limits for the established method were 1.8 of ${\mu}g/kg$ of glufosinate and $2.4{\mu}g/kg$ of glyphosate. Accuracy was ranged from 94.4% to 103.4% and precision was range from 1.5% to 7.2%. Glufosinate was detected in one sample ($ND{\sim}8.8{\mu}g/kg$) and glyphosate was detected in all but one sample ($ND{\sim}337.0{\mu}g/kg$) by applying the analytical method to animal feeds (n=13).

Purpose: Doxylamine is antihistamine drug that is used as a hypnotic. It is also used for suicidal attempts because it can be easily purchased at the pharmacy without a prescription. There were many articles about the complications after doxylamine intoxication such as a rhabdomyolysis, but only a few articles have reported on seizure. We reviewed the cases of doxylamine intoxication with seizure that were treated in the emergency department. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of the patients who were over 15 years old and who were intoxicated by doxylamine at 3 emergency medical centers from January 2006 to June 2010. We reviewed the patients' age, gender, the dose of doxylamine ingested, if gastrointestinal decontamination was done, the time from intoxication to hospital arrival, the seizure history, treatment of seizure, the electroencephalography (EEG) results, the brain computed tomography (CT) results and the blood test results. Results: There were 168 patients who were intoxicated by doxylamine during the study period. Twelve patients had a seizure episode. The differences between the patients who developed seizure and the patients who did not were the dose and the serum levels of sodium and creatinine. The only clinically meaningful difference was the amount of doxylamine. The amount of doxylamine ingested (>29 mg/kg) predicted the development of seizure with a sensitivity of 75% and a specificity of 92% on the ROC curve. One patient among the seizure patients expired in the emergency department. Conclusion: In case of doxylamine intoxicated patients, there is close relationship between seizure and ingested amount, so close observation needs to be done for the patients who ingest too much because doxylamine can cause death. Further prospective studies are needed for doxylamine intoxicated patients with a seizure episode.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the difference between male and female in some clinically meaningful aspects and to prevent intentional poisoning in children and adolescents. Methods: Retrograde medical records review of patients who visited the emergency department of two secondary hospitals for drug ingestion from March 2010 through March 2013 was performed. Unintentional ingestion or ingestion by others was excluded. Results: A total of 138 cases were reported, male 25.4% (n=35), female 74.6% (n=103). The reason for poisoning was intentional in 132 cases (95.7%) and misuse in six cases (4.3%). In female patients, non-prescription drugs was the most common cause of intentional poisoning (68.9%). Male patients tend to use life substances for intentional poisoning more frequently (20.0%) than female (3.9%). Seven male patients and 12 female patients had previous psychiatric history and 34.3% of male and 41.7% of female were consulted to the psychiatric department. Conclusion: Female adolescents are more likely to ingest drugs intentionally for suicide attempt than males of comparable ages. The drugs they ingested were, in many cases, obtained with ease from the drug store nearby and, remarkably, most of the drugs they obtained in that way were acetaminophen-containing. This suggests that some guidelines or control in the pharmacy that restrict children or adolescents from obtaining potentially or possibly life-threatening drugs might be necessary. In addition, education regarding drugs is thought to be necessary in school for teenagers as they tend to misuse them with incorrect acknowledgement.
