  • The KJC and KCI services operated by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) need to refer to the global citation index database to set the service direction that researchers want and develop new functions. Therefore, in this study, the usability of Korea's KJC and KCI web databases was evaluated. In addition, FGI verification was performed for a group of experts on KJC and KCI improvement measures derived by academic information experts. The evaluation committee consisted of the researcher group, the society related group, the publisher (academic information distribution organization) group, and the policy-making organization group. A total of 16 experts performed usability evaluation and service improvement proposals for KJC and KCI services. As a result of usability evaluation of KJC and KCI web database using SUS measurement tool, KJC service was evaluated as 73.44, and KCI service was evaluated as good as 64.38. KJC improvement proposals were evaluated positively with 4 points or more for all improvement items, and KCI improvement proposals were positively evaluated with 3.5 points or more for all improvement items. Overall, KJC and KCI error improvements were evaluated with a score of 4 or more, showing strong affirmations. In the future, it is hoped that the improvement proposals and improvements proposed in this study will be applied to the development of KJC and KCI services, so that more quality services will be used by domestic researchers.

  • Graduate University in Korea is independent graduate school which runs only M.A./Ph.D. course. This study aims to investigate the current situation of graduate university library in Korea, to grasp the problems and to examine how to improve it. Comparing the data based on several statistics with a related standard, graduate university library is very poor except a facility section. This current inferiority of graduate university library seems to result from poor financial fundamental of graduate university, and grow by imperfect laws and ordinances. To solve such problems, initially we need to satisfy the followings. First, we must establish or revise laws and ordinances concerned, and then a minimum standard should be presented. Second, we will lead university to reform voluntarily by improving university information disclosure. Finally, the effort and cooperation with related organizations is necessary.

Based on the analysis results of metadata and related words using BIGKinds, a news big data system, this study presented analysis of simple frequency, classification and classification of the keywords 'information', 'informatization' and 'library'. Based on the results, we compared and analyzed the tendency of informatization in the media through comparison with the 'Information White Paper' which is the publication of government agencies and with research about the research topic of 4 academic journals in the Library and Information Science field. This study tried to interpret the trends of informatization based on the media and it is meaningful that we analyzed the big data of newspaper article which is the long term and time series data. Based on the results of the study, implications of the growth and development of libraries with domestic informatization were suggested. It is expected that we will be able to create a basic framework for developing library informatization policy through the further studies.

  • Information users depend more and more on portal sites for Internet navigation. These circumstances are reflected in academic information market especially. As the path of contacting public knowledge information, many institutions of information creation and services are collaborating with portal sites. At this point in time, it is necessary to consider linking libraries services with portal sites. Especially university libraries which have been recognized as private facilities of each university must to be considered as public facilities of local community. So it is desirable to develop method for linking university library services with portal sites for revitalizing university library services. This paper presents methods linking library OPACs with portal sites, through surveying oversea's cases and situation of domestic portal sites.

  • As circumstances of scholarly communication have been changed over time, there is a growing interest among academic institutions in collecting, preserving, and creating value-added services from digital contents being created by members of the academic community. The purpose of this study is to build an open access based Institutional Repository(IR) in the university for scholarly communication. For this study, this paper analyzes the example of, and makes a full range of process and implementation plan, and then suggests a realistic model of IR which is for dissertations/theses, academic journals, working papers, etc. The intellectual property right issues related to IR are also discussed.

  • While many organizations believe that cloud computing has the potential to reduce operational cost by abstracting capital assets like data storage center and processing systems into a readily on demand available and affordable operating expenses, still many of these organizations are not aware of the factors determining the performance of cloud computing technology. This paper provides a systematic literature review focusing on the factors determining the performance of cloud computing. In trying to come up with this review, the following sources were searched for relevant articles: ScienceDirect, Scientific.Net, ACMDigital Library, IEEE Xplore, Springer, World Scientific Journal, Wiley Online Library, Academic Search Premier (via EBSCOHost) and EdITLib (Education & Information Technology Digital Library). In first search strategy, approximately 100 keywords related to the research domain like; "Cloud Computing" and "Cloud Services" were used. In second search strategy, 65 keywords more related to the research domain were selected. In the third search strategy, the primary materials were identified and classified according to the paper types (Journal or Conference), year of publication and so on. Based on this study, twenty (20) factors were found that determine the performance of cloud computing. The IT organization needs to consider these twenty (20) factors in order to adopt cloud computing.

  • This study aims to identify the core competencies required in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) and to propose curriculum design strategies based on these competencies. The expansion and increasing demand for librarian certification pathways have led to the weakening of professional expertise and growing uncertainty in the job market. In response, this research collected competency-related data from the websites of 16 four-year LIS programs at universities across the country and qualitative data through in-depth interviews with professors from related academic fields and public library managers. The analysis identified five core competencies in LIS: information management and processing, information technology and data utilization, library management and collaboration, user services and communication, and cultural and community understanding. Based on these competencies, the study suggests curriculum design strategies across institutional, practical, and educational dimensions. This research serves as a foundational resource for improving LIS curricula and certification systems and is expected to facilitate collaborative discussions between educators and practitioners in the field.

In other words each library implemented an average 3.67 different methods operating.(2) Twelve universities initiated their improvement schemes in 2008, ten universities initiated their improvement schemes in 2007, nine universities initiated their improvement schemes in 2005, eight universities initiated their improvement schemes in 2010 and seven universities initiated their improvement schemes in 2009. Most university libraries implemented their improvement after 2005.(3) Most university libraries improvement schemes entailed online tours, special events, personal customized services, and SMS services. We noted that online reference services such as the Wiki Service, Twitter, Facebook, Cyworld were not initiated.

  • The easily use of WWW and Web browser of INTERNET makes the world our stage. But when we search for the information and resource that we want, the information supplied by search engine (e.g., Yahoo, Lycos, WebCrawler, Alta Vista) is inadequate to acquire the necessary and related information of research issues. This paper surveys AMT(Advanced Manufacturing Technology) which is the research topics recently on the WWW(WorLd Wide Web) and provides searching methods and information for academic research, technical report, proceedings, software, etc. It also briefly surveys WWW-VL(Virtual Library) and reviews the major three technology, CALS (Commerce At Light Speed), AMS(Agile Manufacturing System), CE(Concurrent Engineering), that is recently the focus of the research issue of Industrial Engineer.

  • The purpose of this study was to prepare basic data for improving school library information service by investigating the information usage behavior of specialized high school students. Preferred information sources for each situation requiring information and the level of solving information problems using information sources were investigated, and difference analysis was conducted by department and grade. As a result of the survey, the percentage of students who preferred Internet portal services, personal information sources (teachers, friends, parents), and social media was high, while the percentage of students who preferred traditional print information sources and mass media was very low. The average score of the information problem solving level was 3.55, and the problem solving level in the areas of employment and career/admission was relatively low. Preferred sources of information were similar regardless of grade and department, and the difference between departments in information problem solving level was not statistically significant, but the difference between grades was statistically significant. In addition, there is an academic contribution in this field that specific examples of youth information use behavior have been added. Based on the results of the study, librarians should make efforts to verify the reliability of Internet portal site information, improve and promote library information sources, and expand library use education. In future studies, it was suggested to develop customized information services.
