  • As numerous security breaches on a variety of information assets such as personal information, corporate secrets, computer servers, and networks have occurred, information security has emerged as a critical social issue. However, researches on economically rational information security decision-making have been few. Such researches are especially rare in South Korea where information security is considered to be a discipline of engineers. This study aims to identify the preferred themes and methodologies of information security economics research in the field of information systems by reviewing papers published in Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Management Science (MS), and Information and Management (I&M). We hope that the results of the study will be helpful in rational managerial or policy decision-making for practitioners and suggest future research topics for researchers.

The results of this study are as follows. First, the subjects of the journal articles are difference from the articles by publication period. The core subjects of the research have been changed over the years. Second, the subjects of library and information science literatures in foreign languages cited in the journal articles are difference from the literatures by citation period and by literature age. Third, the subjects of other disciplinary literatures in foreign langauges cited in the journal articles is difference from the literatures by citation period and by literature age. Fourth, although the half-life of library and information science literatures cited in the journal articles is difference from the literatures by subject, the half-life of the literatures of this discipline is 10-year.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare research trends in the information and communication technology (ICT) field between North and South Korea and analyze the differences by using data mining. Frequency analysis, clustering, and network analysis were performed using keywords from seven South Korean and two North Korean ICT academic journals published for five years (2015-2019). In the case of South Korea (S. Korea), the frequency of research on image processing and wireless communication was high at 16.7% and 16.3%, respectively. North Korea (N. Korea) had a high frequency of research, in the order of 18.2% for image processing, 16.9% for computer/Internet applications/security, and 16.4% for industrial technology. N. Korea's natural language processing (NLP) sector was 11.9%, far higher than S. Korea's 0.7 percent. Student education is a unique subject that is not clustered in S. Korea. In order to promote exchanges between the two Koreas in the ICT field, the following specific policies are proposed. Joint research will be easily possible in the image processing sector, with the highest research rate in both Koreas. Technical cooperation of medical images is required. If S. Korea's high-quality image source is provided free of charge to N. Korea, research materials can be enriched. In the field of NLP, it calls for proposing exchanges such as holding a Korean language information conference, developing a Korean computer operating system. The field of student education encourages support for remote education contents and management know-how, as well as joint research on student remote evaluation.

  • The goal of this study is to determine domestic and overseas research trends of archives and records management. To overcome limitations of existing research trends analysis, we selected 8 international journals and visualized impact factors geographically based on published articles from 2000 to 2017. And then we performed timeline based contents analysis. To compare with domestic and overseas trends, we selected 6 domestic journals of archives and records management and analyzed by same ways. Based on the results, we investigated the marco trends in archives and records management, identified the difference among countries, and finally predicted the future research trends.

  • Emotional semantics are the highest level of semantics that can be extracted from an image. Constructing a system that can automatically recognize the emotional semantics from images will be significant for marketing, smart healthcare, and deep human-computer interaction. To understand the direction of image emotion recognition as well as the general research methods, we summarize the current development trends and shed light on potential future research. The primary contributions of this paper are as follows. We investigate the color, texture, shape and contour features used for emotional semantics extraction. We establish two models that map images into emotional space and introduce in detail the various processes in the image emotional semantic recognition framework. We also discuss important datasets and useful applications in the field such as garment image and image retrieval. We conclude with a brief discussion about future research trends.

  • This study aims at analyzing research trends of library management and suggesting future tasks of this area in Korea. This is a study following the previous study which was done in 2014. For this purpose, this study analyzed 323 papers of library management area among the library and information science papers which have been published from 2014 to 2020 at the four academic journals of the National Research Foundation of Korea. As a result, it was found that 46 papers in library management had been produced annually. The amount of papers in library management has increased, compared to 36 papers annually published which were checked at the previous study. The analysis on the research trends of sub-fields of library management showed that high research performance has been done at the sub-fields like 'general management', 'human resource management', 'measurement and evaluation'. However, there has still been less performance in the sub-fields like 'marketing', 'organization management', 'budget management', which was also shown at the previous study.

  • Social Q&A sites such as Yahoo! Answers and Naver Knowledge-iN have become a viable method for information seeking and sharing on the Web. Considering their immense popularity and growing concerns about their validity as information sources, questions about the credibility of the information provided on social Q&As are timely. Therefore, this paper summarizes recent research on credibility related to the social Q&A context, identifies research gaps, and presents a research agenda for future research to advance this newly developing area.
