Information Domain Curriculum Composition Direction in Subject-Centered Curriculum (교과중심 교육과정에서의 정보영역 교육과정 구성 방향)

  • This study is about the direction of how to compose the information domain curriculum in the domestic subject matter centered curriculum system. To this end, subject-centered and competency-centered curriculum were compared and analyzed, and how the information domain was organized in two types was suggested. In spite of emphasizing competency, the domestic curriculum was judged to be inclined to the subject-centered curriculum because it emphasized the presentation of national-level educational goals, a subject learning model, and textbooks. As examples of the information domain subject-centered curriculum, the information domain of the elementary practical subject and the middle school information curriculum were presented, and the SW convergence curriculum was presented as an example of a progressive curriculum. Under such circumstances, it was emphasized that in order for the learner to lead a life in an intelligent society in the future through the information domain including SWAI content, it must be explicitly described in a subject-centered perspective with computer science as the parent study.

A Study on Current Status Analysis and Improvement of Computer Curriculum for National University of Education (교육대학 컴퓨터교육과정 실태 분석 및 개선방안 연구)

  • With rapid advances in information and communication technologies, our education as well as daily life has been changed quickly. However, school computer education curriculum has been shrunken. In this situation, curriculum reform of national university of education can be affected by current computer education curriculum. The purpose of this paper is to search new direction of computer education curriculum of national university of education. With this purpose, we first analyze current status of computer education curriculum of nation-wide universities of education based on extensive surveys from students, teachers, and professors. Based on thorough analysis, we propose a revised computer education curriculum. We hope that the proposed curriculum is helpful for the future revision of computer-related curriculum.

  • Computer education currently executed at elementary schools showed problems of system of education curriculum, repetition, and lack of consistent system as a result of analyzing index for information and communication technology, education curriculum, and related literatures, and most of the education contents have difficulty to nurture logic thinking and problem-solving ability since they are composed mainly of software function learning. Concerning this issue, this study suggests an innovated computer education curriculum with reinforced information ethics field with computer principle, algorithm, and programming, in other words, a corrected and supplemented version of former content system based on computer science guidance cases of ACM education curriculum model of USA, computer education curriculum of state Tennessee, and information technology education curriculum of Great Britain judging that introduction of computer science factors are desperate to improve computer education curriculum in elementary schools.

Analysis of Research Trends in Elementary Information Education According to Changes in Curriculum (교육과정 변화에 따른 초등 정보교육 연구 동향 분석)

  • Contents related to computers in the curriculum have been presented from the 5th curriculum released in 1987. The practical education curriculum of the 2015 revised curriculum is composed of software-related content from the existing ICT-related contents. Related research needs to be preceded in order to revise the curriculum according to the times and social needs. Research on elementary school information education is mainly conducted by the Korean Society for Information Education. Therefore, in this study, based on the thesis of the Society for Information Education, the research trends of the society were analyzed by a period of change in the curriculum. Research Results The research of the society shows a change in research trends similar to the change in the curriculum. And it can be seen that the research of society precedes the change in the curriculum.

Designing demand side education of information security professionals (수요자 중심의 정보보호 전문 인력 양성을 위한 교육과정 설계)

  • There has been a lot of growth more than 10% in the information security industry. In accordance with the industrial growth, it increased needs for the information security manpower development as a national problem. But there is an imbalance between demand and supply of the information security manpower in terms of the quantity and quality. It is mainly caused by the curriculum of the information security is made considering for suppliers not for demanders. As a resolution to solve this problem, we suggest the curriculum of information security for vocational education and training. As the information security area is wide in view of required knowledge and technology, we design the curriculum by selecting major occupation type from the information security manpower distribution and products and then by investigating the job description using NCS(National Competency Standard). And we compared the curriculum to that of two or three year diploma courses in Korea.

  • According to the 2015 revised curriculum, the software education was provided to elementary school education in Korea. In Korea, information education became a necessary education. However, in Korea elementary school, information education is still not operated as an independent subject. This study examines the information education curriculum and information education textbook contents at the national level of Korea and China. The implications of this study can help establish the direction of information education in Korea.

A Critical Analysis of the Draft Proposal of 2022 Revised Practical Arts (Technology·Home Economics) Curriculum (2022 개정 실과(기술·가정) 교육과정 시안에 대한 비판적 검토)

  • The government has proposed various policies to 'extend the time for teaching information education in elementary schools'. However, in the 2022 revised practical arts (technical·home economics) curriculum, information education is still organized for only 17 hours the same as before, and there is not enough connection with the middle school information subject. In this study, policies related to information education in elementary schools such as National Strategy of Artificial Intelligence, Comprehensive Plan of Information Education, Education Policy Direction and Core Tasks in the Artificial Intelligence Era, and Digital Talent Education Plan were analyzed. In addition, after the '2022 revised national curriculum guidelines' was announced in 2021, the problems of the practical arts curriculum were analyzed by analyzing materials of the draft proposal of the curriculum and comments posted on the Public Participation Communication Channel. Finally, I suggested a plan to link the 2022 revised practical arts (technology·home economic) curriculum to the information subject of middle school in detail, and to expand information education in elementary schools.

A Study on the Administration of Computer Curriculum for Commerce·Information High School Considering College Education of Same Major (동일계 상급학교 진학을 고려한 상업·정보계 고등학교의 컴퓨터 교육과정 운영 방안 연구)

  • The number of college-oriented students in vocational high schools is increasing every year. For this reason, it is necessary to revise the curriculum of vocational schools, so that it is properly connected to college level education. In this paper, we try to find problems in computer curriculum by analyzing computer related courses currently taught by information computer departments in commerce information high schools. Based on the findings, we propose a desirable computer curriculum for commercial information high schools. We include the contents of each course, and suggest the way to administer the proposed curriculum in three year course of study.

  • After the computer education become essential in elementary school, computer subject which was absorbed by the other subjects is educating in independent way. However, since the contents of computer education in elementary school is based on the ICT literacy education, sequential disconnection problem appears between elementary school and secondary school computer education curriculum. Therefore, information ethics education that is one part of computer education also has same problems. To solve these problems of information ethics education, it is necessary to set the goal of information ethics education that should be educated through the whole courses of elementary and secondary school and to reorganize the contents. In this study, we analyzed the contents of information ethics education included in ICT literacy education and computer curriculum, and analyzed the contents of information ethics education included in U.S. computer curriculum. Based on these analysis, we designed a curriculum model for information ethics education in computer education.

  • The interest in artificial intelligence education in education is also high based on recent social interest in artificial intelligence. Accordingly, Korea is preparing a foothold for revitalizing artificial intelligence education in the future, such as announcing an artificial intelligence education plan by expanding from software (SW) education that has become a regular curriculum after the 2015 revised curriculum, and various studies are being conducted. However, research on the curriculum related to what and how to educate in artificial intelligence education is still in its infancy and further research is needed. A look at related research shows many similarities and differences in research related to domestic and foreign AI curriculum, because there are differences in the areas and content elements that each research focuses on. Therefore, in this study, in preparation for the future independence of the information subject and the formalization of AI education, literature studies on domestic and foreign AI curriculum are conducted, and based on this, the direction of the curriculum composition for elementary school AI education is to be explored.
