We investigated the phase noise of an oscillator with a extremely high-Q resonator used as the resonant element. A TE$_{011}$ mode rutile-loaded resonator with high-temperature superconductive (HTS) $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) films used as the endplates is prepared for this purpose. At 23.5 K, the unloaded Q and the loaded Q are 863000 and 180000, respectively. The phase noise of -104.8 dBc/Hz at 1 KHz offset was observed for the oscillator having a resonator with $Q_{L}$ =180000 at the $TE_{01\delta$ mode resonant frequency of 8.545 GHz at 23.5 K Such oscillators with very low phase noise are expected to be used for building up communication systems capable of efficient use of the frequency band and high-speed data transmission as well as for Doppler radars. Frequency tuning could be realized for the resonator by using a piezoactuator Applicability of the tunable rutile resonator for fabricating tunable oscillators of high performances is discussed.
In the wireless communication systems, the power consumption of a mobile device is very important issue due to its battery limitations. Hence most of the standards for wireless networks including a mobile WiMAX system are supporting their own power saving mode in way that a mobile device is able to reduce its energy usage while in the mode. However, those standards just define the arrangement of special time intervals, called a paging listening interval, during which the device needs to receive the paging-related control messages, and they do not specify how to effectively reduce the power in many different network environments. This means the amount of power spent by the device is very dependent on the implementations of individual device-vendors, and undesirable paging loss may happen according to the channel conditions. To reduce unnecessary power usage and the risk of paging loss, this paper proposes the effective frequency/BS selection algorithm applicable to a mobile device operating in the power saving mode, which serves the device with better BS based on the tracking for channel variation. This algorithm consists of the channel estimation phase during each paging listening interval, the tracking phase for the measured results, the frequency reselection phase based on the tracking activity, and the preferred BS reselection phase. Thus the proposed method can improve the paging performance while the device is moving in the network. Also the simulation result shows that the presented scheme is superior to other candidates in energy efficiency due to the channel-adaptive frequency/BS selection.

The power line communication channel has characteristic variation problems which are caused by load. The spread spectrum technique has been used to overcome these problems. One of that is the direct sequence spread spectrum(DS/SS) system which is not necessary to additional hardwares. The BER of DS/SS system is decreased by longer length of PN code, but data transfer rate is decreases, so data transfer rate is hard to satisfies their own specifications especially in narrowband PLC systems. Spread Spectrum system with Dual-processing Gain tries to reflect cyclic characteristics of power line noise. But that system assumes that shapes of power line channel are symmetrical with respect to the 1/4 point of main frequency(60Hz in Korea), therefore cannot achieves various shapes of real power line noise. Thus in this paper, noise adaptive DS/SS system which PN code is changed by noise levels for various channel noises is proposed and simulated. The different kinds of noises are modeled and measured for simulation, the proposed system is verified that has lower data transfer rate and lower error rate than conventional system by simulation results.

Presently, there are many different technologies used for position detection. However, as signal-receiving devices operating in different locations must detect the precise position of objects located at long distances, it is essential to know the precise time at which an object's or a user's terminal device sends a signal. For this purpose, the existing time of arrival (ToA) technology is not sufficiently reliable, and the existing time difference of arrival (TDoA) technology is more suitable. If a TDoA-based electric surveillance system and other tracking devices fail to achieve precise time-synchronization between devices with separation distance operation, it is impossible to obtain correct TDoA values from the signals sent by the signal-receiving devices; this failure to obtain the correct values directly affects the location estimation error. For this reason, the technology for achieving precise time synchronization between signal-receiving devices in separation distance operation, among the technologies previously mentioned, is a core technology for detecting TDoA-based locations. In this paper, the accuracy of the proposed time synchronization and the measurement error in the TDoA-based location detection technology is evaluated. The TDoA-based location measurement error is significantly improved when using the proposed method for time-synchronization error reduction.

A loosely coupled message broker system is a popular method for integrating distributed software components. Especially, a distributed broker structure with multiple brokers with active-standby or active-active message replicas are used to enhance availability as well as message processing performance. However, there are problems in both active-standby and active-active replica structure. The active-standby has relatively low processing performance and The active-active structure requires a high synchronization overhead. In this paper, we propose an active-active structure of replicas to increase the availability of the brokers without compromising its high fault-tolerancy. In the proposed structure, standby replicas process the requests of the active replicas so that load balancing is achieved without additional brokers, while the distributed coordinators are used for the synchronization process to decrease the overhead. We formulated the overhead incurred when synchronizing messages among replicas, and the formulation was used to support the experiment results. From the experiment, we observed that replicas of the active-active structure show better performance than the active stand-by structure with increasing number of users.

The data response speed is a critical issue of cloud services because it directly related to the user experience. As such, the in-memory database is widely adopted in many cloud-based applications for achieving fast data response. However, the current implementation of the in-memory database is mostly based on the linked list-based hash table which cannot guarantee the constant data response time. Thus, cuckoo hashing was introduced as an alternative solution, however, there is a disadvantage that only half of the allocated memory can be used for storing data. Subsequently, bucketized cuckoo hashing (BCH) improved the performance of cuckoo hashing in terms of memory efficiency but still cannot overcome the limitation that the insert overhead. In this paper, we propose a data management solution called Wall Cuckoo which aims to improve not only the insert performance but also lookup performance of BCH. The key idea of Wall Cuckoo is that separates the data among a bucket according to the different hash function be used. By doing so, the searching range among the bucket is narrowed down, thereby the amount of slot accesses required for the data lookup can be reduced. At the same time, the insert performance will be improved because the insert is following up the operation of the lookup. According to analysis, the expected value of slot access required for our Wall Cuckoo is less than that of BCH. We conducted experiments to show that Wall Cuckoo outperforms the BCH and Sorting Cuckoo in terms of the amount of slot access in lookup and insert operations and in different load factor (i.e., 10%-95%).

In this research, one common chapter, Problem Solving and Programming, in seven different types of high school informatics textbooks was analyzed in terms of the aspect of learners' explorations. These textbooks were newly developed based on the 2015 revised national curriculum. Romey's analysis was used to the textbooks along with four analytic elements: texts, data, activities, and evaluation. The study results showed that the textbooks can highly encourage learners' further explorations according to the four analytic elements reflected in the seven textbooks: one out of the six textbooks well designed for texts, three for data, six for activities, two for evaluation. In terms of Romey's involvement index points, six of the seven textbooks had low indexes of texts, ranging from 0.175 to 0.393. Data indexes were extremely low in four out of the seven textbooks, ranging from 0.058 to 0.226. Five out of the seven textbooks had very high indexes of evaluation in the broad range of 2 to 6.333 points. Furthermore, these newly designed textbooks can more greatly facilitate students' explorations than previously existing textbooks in three elements: texts, data, and activities. Evaluation indexes significantly increased in these new textbooks from 0.916 to 3.914, which had excessive points in terms of promoting students' explorations. Further methods to improve the textbook quality is proposed based on the results from this analysis.

Block cipher is not expected to be safe for quantum computer, as Grover's algorithm reduces the security strength by accelerating brute-force attacks on symmetric key ciphers. So it is necessary to check the post-quantum security strength by implementing quantum circuit for the target cipher. In this paper, we propose the optimal quantum circuit implementation result designed as a technique to minimize the use of quantum resources (qubits, quantum gates) for SIMECK lightweight cryptography, and explain the operation of each quantum circuit. The implemented SIMECK quantum circuit is used to check the estimation result of quantum resources and calculate the Grover attack cost. Finally, the post-quantum strength of SIMECK lightweight cryptography is evaluated. As a result of post-quantum security strength evaluation, all SIMECK family cipher failed to reach NIST security strength. Therefore, it is expected that the safety of SIMECK cipher is unclear when large-scale quantum computers appear. About this, it is judged that it would be appropriate to increase the block size, the number of rounds, and the key length to increase the security strength.
Mobile WiMAX provides wireless broadband services for data communication based on IP protocol. The limitation of physical bandwidth in the radio links may cause performance degradation in providing wireless broadband services in WIMAX. To enhance the efficiency of the radio link utilization, Payload Header Suppression (PHS) is defined as an optional header compression mechanism for mobile WiMAX. It has, however, a very limited compression capability since it has very restrictive compression fields. In this paper, hence, we assumed the application of Robust Header Compression (ROHC), a header compression scheme proposed for links characterized by high bit error ratios, long round-trip times (RTT), and scarce resource, to Mobile WiMAX, and studied its performance. Previous studies on ROHC performance merely focused on the impact of high bit error rate. However, bit error is virtually transparent to ROHC in the wireless systems like WiMAX, since the MAC provides the bit error checking function. In order to evaluate the performance of ROHC in the Mobile WiMAX environments, therefore, we evaluated the performance of ROHC with respect to the packet losses instead of bit error. We investigated the impact of the ROHC parameters that are recommended for the implementation in the ROHC and compared the performance of ROHC with PHS.

Since transmissions of large amounts of data are frequent, users require more bandwidth, and the need for communications networks having greater bandwidth is increasing. One communications network satisfying this need is an optical communications network. Therefore, studies to increase the transmission capacity of optical communications systems have been carried out. However, in a general optical communications system, a signal transmitted through optical fiber (a transmission medium) is detected through direct detection in the receiving system. This method has a disadvantage in that the entire bandwidth of the optical signal cannot be utilized. Also, when transmitting an optical signal, there is a problem where the signal-to-noise ratio is affected by neighboring channels. To overcome this situation, various studies are being conducted to minimize the influence of external interference and noise. This paper overcomes the situation by transmitting spectrum-sliced signals using the digital transmission system, FSK. Analyzing the characteristics of the signals detected in the receiver of the optical communications system, Gaussian distribution is used for the PDF of the spectrum-sliced signal, and the signal at the receiving end of the optical communications system is assumed to have a k-square distribution. The results of the analysis confirmed it is better to transmit the spectrally divided signal rather than transmit the laser source.
