  • The morphological analyzer is expected to tell attested word forms from imaginable yet unattested ones. An account of the inflectional morphology of English verbs is given in the framework of Word-and-Paradigm morphology, developed mainly by Matthews (1972, 1974, 1991) and further by Aronoff (1994) and Zwicky (1985, 1988), which is free of overrecognition. Thirteen inflectional classes are identified according to the patterns each of them exhibits in filling the slots in the paradigm. Peculiarity in orthography is also considered in assigning each verb lexeme to a class. Modules of a C program which gives associated morphosyntactic properties to all and only attested verb forms are written so that details of this framework can be evaluated explicitly. This program is shown to be superior to existing programs in economy and in the generality it achieves.

  • A rectangular type circulating fluidized bed (CFB) with an internal nozzle and two partition walls was proposed. In this modified CFB, an internal nozzle and two slanted partition walls were additionally set in the riser. This cold mode apparatus was made of acrylic resin; the riser was 1500mm high and $1000{\times}1000mm^2$ in the cross sectional area, the internal nozzle was 200mm high and 10mm in the inner diameter, and the partition wall was 7mm thick. Glass beads of $91{\mu}m$ in the mean diameter were employed as bed materials. In the cold mode by using the proposed CFB with an internal nozzle, it was possible to change the particle hold up by changing the gas flow ratio of the nozzle to the total(Qn/Qt). It was found that the inflection point which devided the bed structure between the dense and the dilute phase in the riser varied with Qn/Qt.

  • In this paper, a study was conducted for the optimization through shear web of shape the Edison program in wind power blade. We measured the displacement and stress distribution through two optimization methods to select the model with the smallest displacement and stress values. Before running the analysis, We try to find the inflection point through the shear web of the model and then analyze by introducing the geometric nonlinearity. The first optimization variables are introduced by the pitch angle and three web shapes. Third model such a honeycomb structure is good way to get an advantage for bending test. According to a method of previous optimization, third model is chosen and then the thickness of the web and blade as a variable is introduced, it is extracted as a result of displacement and the maximum stress per mass.

  • The writing styles of TIME and Newsweek are analyzed using a specially developed linguistic program. These two news magazines were chosen because of their wide popularity. As for the results, it became obvious that both the frequency curve of words and that of characters have not changed for the past 60 years. Also, we have found that the frequency curves have some inflection points and that the genre of English writings can be identified by these points. After counting the percentage of required vocabulary for junior high school students and high school students in English writings, we can derive the relative difficulties of them using fuzzy reasoning. Fuzzy rules are constructed using features of the characteristic curves. We feel it would be a good guide index when selecting textbooks or supplementary readers.

  • Traffic engineering is a technology that guarantees quality of service that users want and maximize inflection degree of network resources at the same time as evenly distributing traffic to whole network. To improve performance of network at traffic and resources level, traffic engineering aims at utilizing network resource efficiently and effectively and must be satisfied performance requirement concerned with traffic. In this paper, two models to embody traffic engineering are analyzed and finally functional structure of IP/WDM traffic engineering is explained.

  • Aortic AIx(augmentation index) has been used to measure aortic stiffness and evaluate ventricular load quantitatively. Algorithm for the detection of augmentation point gradually increases the differential order to detect inflection point rather than detects the distinctive point that appears after a specific time. Developed algorithm for AIx is proved to provide more accurate results than the ones developed by previous studies with the deviation from $-11.5{\pm}14.34$ points to $-3.75{\pm}1.26$ points. Results could provide the basis for the measurement of aortic stiffness using easily-measurable radial artery pulse waves, and could be extended to develop a system for early diagnosis of various vascular diseases.

  • A flexible incremental roll forming process has been developed by adopting the advantages of the incremental forming process and the roll forming process: i.e., inherent flexibility of the incremental forming process and continuous bending deformation of the roll forming process. It has an adjustable roll set as a forming tool composed of one upper center roll and two pairs of lower support rolls, which plays a key role during forming process. Through the experiments based on the various combinations of process parameters, it is shown that the incremental roll forming process is so effective as to manufacture various doubly curved sheet metals including concave-convex combination shapes in which there exists a line of inflection. The proposed relationship of the experimental parameters and the radius of curvature of the formed sheet boundary is found to be useful in prediction and control of the final shape.

  • Electrical conductivites of polycrystalline yttrium sesquioxides containing 1.6 and 3.2 mol % of holmium sesquioxdes have been measured from 650 to $1050^{\circ}C$ under oxygen partial pressures of $1{\times}10^{-5}$ to $2{\times}10^{-1}$ atm. Plots of log conductivity vs. 1/T at constant oxygen partial pressures are found to be linear away from the two inflection points. The low- and high-temperature dependences of conductivity show different defect structures of yttrium sesquioxide. The plots of log conductivity vs. log $PO_2$ are found to be linear at $PO_{2'}$s of $10^{-5}$ to $10^{-1} atm. The electrical conductivity dependences on $PO_2$ are found to be $1}5.3$ at $950-1050^{\circ}C$, $\frac{6}{1}$ at $800-950^{\circ}C$ and ($\frac{6.2}{1}$) - ($\frac{6.5}{1}$) at $650-800^{\circ}C$, respectively. The defect structures and conduction mechanisms have been suggested.

Barrier Height from Ⅴ-Ⅰ Characteristics of Semiconductor Contact: Reaction of Absorbed Oxygen with Carbon Monoxide on ZnO (1010)

  • Barrier height on the surface was monitored at 77 K by observing the inflection of V-I characteristics of ZnO(1010)-ZnO(1010) contact in the surface reaction of oxygen species with carbon monoxide. The contact showed inflections at 10-20 mV and 10-50 mV for the sample adsorbed oxygen at 298 K and 573 K, respectively. When the sample adsorbed oxygen at 573 K was exposed to carbon monoxide at 298 K and 573 K, inflections were observed at 10-40 mV and 10-30 mV, respectively. The results indicated that the adsorption of oxygen on ZnO increased the surface barrier height, and the reaction of carbon monoxide with the oxygen-preadsorbed (at 573 K) ZnO decreased the surface barrier height.
