This study is to assess the reduction of greenhouse gas emission and economic contribution by operating nuclear power plants in Korea. According to the results of applying greenhouse gas emission coefficients to the current nuclear power generation and the estimated nuclear power generation of national energy master plan, it is confirmed quantitatively that nuclear power contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emission, controlling inflation, and substituting import of fossil energies. For the reliable and cost-effective supply of energy and the active respondency to climate change, a continuous expansion of nuclear power is implied to be necessary.
Brain dead (BD) patients remain the largest source of solid organs for transplantation. BD has shown to decrease graft function and survival in rodent models. The aim of this study was to evaluate how brain death affects graft viability in the donor and kidney tolerance to cold preservation as assessed by survival in a canine transplantation. 13 Beagle dogs were used for the study. Brain death was induced by the sudden inflation of a subdural balloon catheter with continuous monitoring of arterial blood pressure and eletroencephalographic activity (n=3). Sixteen hours after conformation of brain death, kidney graft were retrieved (n=6). Non-BD donors served as controls (n=4). All kidneys were flushed with University of Wisconsin (UW) solution and preserved for 24 hours at 4$^{\circ}C$ before transplantation. Recipient survival rates, serum creatinine level were analyzed. Brain death induced the well-known Cushing reaction with a severe increase in blood pressure and tachycardia. Thereafter, cardiac function returned progressively to baseline within 8 hours and remained stable until the end of the experiment. All of dogs in both group transplanted were survived until 7 days (100%), and the kidneys showed functional early rejection at 8.3$\pm$0.5 days and 8.5$\pm$0.5 days after transplantation, in BD and allograft group, respectively. BD kidneys were functionally similar to control kidneys for 7 days after transplantated. Brain death has no deleterious effect on preservation injury and survival of dog kidney transplantation, although it induces changes in hemodynamic parameters. This study reveals that kidneys from BD donors do not exhibit more ischemia reperfusion injury, and support good early function and survival.

Augustine volcano, located along the Aleutian Arc, is one of the most active volcanoes in Alaska and nearby islands, with seven eruptions occurring between 1812 and 2006. This study monitored the surface displacement before and after the most recent 2006 eruption. For analysis, we conducted a time-series analysis on data observed at the permanent GPS(Global Positioning System) observation stations in Augustine Island between 2005 and 2011. According to the surface displacement analysis results based on GPS data, the movement of the surface inflation at the average speed of 2.3 cm/year three months prior to the eruption has been clearly observed, with the post-eruption surface deflation at the speed of 1.6 cm/year. To compare surface displacements measurement by GPS observation, ENVISAT(Environmental satellite) radar satellite data were collected between 2003 and 2010 and processed the SBAS(Small Baseline Subset) method, one of the time-series analysis techniques using multiple InSAR(Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar) data sets. This result represents 0.97 correlation value between GPS and InSAR time-series surface displacements. This research has been completed precise surface deformation using GPS and time-series InSAR methods for a detection of precursor symptom on Augustine volcano.

Each tire has a critical speed at which a standing wave phenomenon occurs along the circumferential direction. If the standing waves are formed, the tire temperature is rapidly increased and it leads to tire failure eventually. As the formation of the standing waves is closely related to the tire stiffness, the effect of the tread pattern needs to be studied numerically. The standing wave phenomenon of a tire model with tread pattern is predicted by an explicit finite element method. The critical speed of the tire with tread pattern is in a good agreement with the experiment and is $15{\sim}20\;km/h$ lower than that of the tire without tread pattern. The effects of the inflation pressure and the vertical load on the critical speed are also investigated by using the tire model with tread pattern.

In the last years there has been growing interest in concepts of positive dependence for families of random variables such that concepts are considerable us in deriving inequalities in probability and statistics. Lehman introdued various concepts of positive dependence for bivariate random variables. A much stronger notions of positive dependence were later considered by Esary, Proschan, and Walkup. Ahmed et al and Ebrahimi and Ghosh also obtained multivariate versions of various bivariate positive dependence as descrived by Lehman. See also Block al. Glaz and Johnson an Barlow and Proschan and the references there. Multivariate processes arise when instead of observing a single process we observe several processes, say $X_19t), \cdots, X_n(t)$ simultaneously. For example, in an engineering context we may want to study the simultaneous variation of current and voltage, or temperature, pressure and volume over time. In economics we may be interested in studying inflation rates and money supply, unemployment and interest rates. We could of course, study each quantity on its own and treat each as a separate univariate process. Although this would give us some information about each quantity it could never give information about the interrelationship between various quantities. This leads us to introduce some concepts of positive and for multivariate stochastic processes. The concepts of positive dependence have subsequently been extended to stochastic processes in different directions by many authors.
This is a case report that 24 heads of cattle suddenly died without clinical signs in a Hanwoo farm. The cause of death was Clostridium perfringens enterotoxemia resulted from them with feeding leftover food. The clinical signs were observed just before the death; increase of heart rate, shallow and rapid respiration, amyostasia, spasm and so forth. In autopsy, blood coagulation disorder, a little abdominal inflation, hepatomegaly and different size of red spots, congestion hemorrhage and undercurrent of bloody exudation were observed in the entire parts of small and large intestines. C. perfringens were isolated from the substantive organs, and a unique fragment of 405bp C. perfringens was amplified by PCR. Therefore, this case was diagnosed as enterotoxemia caused by ${\alpha}$-toxin of C. perfringens A type.

Two kinds of experimental modal analyses have been performed on a radial tire for passenger car under fixed axle. One is the modal analysis to obtain three-dimensional modes of tire using accelerometers and the other is the one to identify cavity resonance frequency using a pressure sensor. From the first analysis, we have obtained three-dimensional natural modes and their decomposed 3-D modes in each direction, which make it possible to grasp the features of the modes that cannot be identified in the conventional 2-D modes and to classify the vibrationall modes into symmetric, non-symmetric, and antisymmetric modes in a simple way by using the experimental results. From the second experimental analysis, the cavity resonance frequency is found. Coomparing the results of the two analyses, we have Identified the three-dimensional mode of the cavity resonance. We also haute shown that natural frequencies of structural vibration depends on inflation Pressure while the cavity resonance does not.

Maintaining proper tire air pressure is an essential element in ensuring vehicle safety. UHP Tires that boast of many safety features are increasing in the market. In particular, the development of "Self-Inflating Tire" technology is accelerating around the globe. Self-inflating tire refers to a technique for maintaining appropriate tire pressure. An internal regulator senses when tire inflation pressure has dropped below the set air pressure. The tire boosts air through the valve when rolling and compressed air enters into the tire. This procedure keeps the tire air pressure at an appropriate level and increases tire safety. Flow analysis of the internal tube is required to examine self-inflating tires. In this study, a method of tube flow analysis using the FSI Method is proposed. The valve system is also implemented to optimize the regulator and sensor.

A Non_Pneumatic tire (NPT) has spoke to replace air of the pneumatic tires. A NPT appears to have advantages over the conventional pneumatic tire in terms of flat proof and maintenance free. And a NPT can also be used in the space environment since it uses no air for inflation. In this study, the static contact pressure of NPTs with auxetic honeycomb spokes is investigated as a function of vertical loading and is compared with that of a pneumatic tire. The finite element based numerical simulation of the local stress of an airless tire is carried out with ABAQUS for varying vertical force and honeycomb spokes geometries.
